If I had to choose between the likelihood that there was some innate resistance in the South American population and the likelihood that it's there and spreading, though no one is noticing yet, I'd bet on the latter.

What would a "I hope coronavirus kill all x" monkey's paw look like? They get replaced with something worse, or their tragic death inspires a boom in their population several years hence?

It kills them so selectively that they actually believe, en masse, the narrative that it was engineered by malicious outsiders for that purpose, and they nuke you for it. Or the modern equivalent of that guy who wrote the Seven Kill Stele believes it, rises up, acquires the nuclear silos, and does the same thing.

It seems that Japan's NHK, in its wisdom, has elected not to test doctors and nurses working aboard the Diamond Princess.

NHK (Nippon Hoso Kyokai) is just the state public broadcaster, kind of like the BBC of Japan, complete with licence fee. They're just reporting the news, not in charge of testing anyone.

Mardi Gras season is also currently underway in the parts of burgerland that celebrate such things. It also happens that two of the biggest destinations for Mardi Gras Celebrations are major international ports - New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama. Given how many gaps seem to exist in the tracking of possible Coronavirus carriers, it wouldn't shock me if a few people were already unwittingly spreading the joy.

I saw someone up-thread point out that Anniston, Alabama was going to have some facilities dedicated to Coronavirus quarantine. I was wondering when those of us 'down south' would get our invitation to the Coronavirus party, and it looks like the invitation is officially in the mail.

Pretty sure that original statement about infected Death Princess passangers not getting on the plane was a lie, so others would not be scared to get on that plague plane and not having to deal with repatriation later in further deteriorated situation. Africa is going to explode into a mushroom cloud of diseased death. They're still dealing with a rampant Ebola outbreak, imagine the Coronavirus sweeping in on top of it, and in one of the most impoverished, ignorant, unhygienic and water-poor regions on Earth.

I'm just surprised that there were infections in India but it has yet to even begin buzzsawing through their overcrowded and notoriously unhygienic populace. There are more people dying in desert regions of the Middle East than there are in India, I just can't believe that they're not getting hosed right now and hiding numbers themselves.

The Aimish have a tendency of rejecting vaccines. Some communities in Ohio are starting to embrace them due to a measles outbreak in 2014. Not as nutty as Christian scientists, but could still cause some issues. They mostly stick to their communities, but it isn't uncommon to see a horse drawn buggy in the states they're common in.

You also have to consider how seemingly random incubation rates are. That and the Beijing hospital leaks show that many infected just wont hardly test positive even if symptoms are overt as fuck.

In the full video the interviewer presses her on that and she replies "we made up the story that no news is good news", presumably claiming that that's what they were telling themselves, not the authorities. The interviewer doesn't seem to buy it and makes a confused "hm" and moves on.
