From the way i see it, i think of it as a tactic from some members of the LGBT community to equate their struggle to those in the black community; but according to a historical standpoint, their worlds are far apart from each other.

Black people had all sorts of fucked up shit happen to them for a majority of their tenure in the USA(i.e Lynchings, mutilations, being used as literal bate for animals, segregation, housing discrimination etc.) compared to the average gay person. They don't have the ability to magically peel away their own skin in exchange for a new one compared to a gay person who switches their sexuality every week or a trans who has the luxury of putting on a dress and wig every time they go out in public. As far as i know, the only REAL issue the gay community really had was the WBC/fundies throughout the 90's and mid 2000's; but other than that most of their issues boil down to self-infliction within their own communities.

The comparison would've made sense 20 or more years ago, when you could be ostracized or assaulted because of who you felt attracted to. Hysteria surrounding the HIV epidemic throughout the 70's and 80's certainly didn't help matters either. Today, though? They probably have it just as easy as any straight person, especially since, as you said, you can simply mask your sexuality depending on the situation at hand. If you're going to your aunt's place and they happen to be Christian fundamentalists who think homosexuality is a sin, then there's no reason why you can't just lie and say that you have a girlfriend or boyfriend of the opposite sex. Black people can't do that. They have to wear their identity in public. They have to be able to own the idea that some people just won't like them based on the color of their skin.

...Have you been near fandoms recently? Just take a quick peek at the MLP fandom and tell me they don’t practically worship Faust.

I’m not going to pretend like fandoms have always been innocent and clean but the fact of the matter is social media allows people to be shot to others more anonymously and much quicker than before. In addition to the three major incidents I mentioned there have been a bunch of smaller clusterfucks, all of which involve bullying, harassing, policing, toxic rumor mills, and of course cancel culture...y’know, stuff much worse than just autistically worshipping some hack animator. After awhile, you can’t keep writing this off as just “a few bad apples”.

It's the cult-like mentality that was the problem with the John K. thing. The fact that John encouraged and exploited it was awful, but a lot of the fanboys' talk about John read like Dennis Hopper in Apocalypse Now, if you get my drift.

I can't really think of another cartoon fandom that has this same cult-like mentality. The Bronies are chock-full of disgusting fetishists, the Steven Universe fandom is full of Tumblrites, but they're no worse than a lot of other fandoms out there - which is not a good thing, because those fandoms are pretty bad. Still, none of them feature the same blind obedience to the creator that the John K. fandom had, and that is a big, big plus in my book.
