There might be photos of a funimation VA doing cocaine or drugs.
Should have just put in Miyazaki movies instead of listing them separately. I mean even The Wind Rises had a strong female character in it and it was just a fictional telling of the dude who made the Zero warplane. Also put line in there for Mamuro Hosoda movies too pretty much all his movies have strong female characters even when the theme is not even about women, like the Boy and the Beast. I mean you got Granny from Summer Wars and Hana from Wolf Children being in the OP dept.I've heard of Beta 64. He has an excellent YouTube channel in which he talks about what video games looked like during development before they were officially completed. It is an exhaustive source of information for any diehard video game fan and I would recommend it to anyone whose into classic games. So for him to express grievances over this discord situation on Twitter is very telling.
Forget that Monica is on that video. These people clearly know nothing about anime in general. This “anime is for boys” and “there haven’t been strong female characters in anime until now” rhetoric is nothing but complete bullshit because despite not watching anime for God only knows, I can name a dozen anime heroines off the top of my head:
These aren't just characters that popped out recently. These characters have been around since the 1980's, way before any of us were born. And for God's sake, several former and current Funimation voice actors (Caitlin Glass, Laura Bailey, Colleen Clinkenbeard, Brian Palenica, Luci Christian, Cynthia Cranz, Meredith McCoy, even Monica Rial and Jamie Marchi) worked on these characters. Hell, most of the anime above are currently owned by Funimation in the States. In the words of Tim Robbins from Shawshank Redemption, "how could you be so obtuse?".

- Hikaru, Umi and Fuu (Magic Knight Rayearth)
- Fuu (Samurai Champoo)
- Haruhi Suzumiya
- The entire cast of Azumanga Daioh
- Kaname Chidori (Full Metal Panic)
- Haruko Haruhara (FLCL)
- Yoko and Nia (Gurren Lagann)

The fact that these people think that there aware no strong women in anime while a Miyazaki movie is standing right there is nothing short of pathetic.Should have just put in Miyazaki movies instead of listing them separately. What about Misa Hayase? Without shows like Macross being butchered in the States we wouldn't have had the mini anime boom in the 90s.Lest we forget: Gunbuster is one of the most influential anime of the '80s.

They had to do it. At that time in the 80s it was the norm that a cartoon had 65 episodes in the season. So they stiched together Macross with 2 similar animes and woila Robotech is born. What about Misa Hayase? Fixed it now. :pThe pictures need to be smaller so one doesn't take up my whole screen.
Yeah, but they don't count because reasons. Just forget that they exist and realize that anime has no strong female characters because the industry is sexist and hates women due to it being flooded with incels.

Yep, those were the rules for syndication (at least, back then - I have no idea what they are now). Carl Macek gets a lot of hate for cobbling-together the Frankenstein monster that is Robotech, but it was actually a genius move that took a LOT of planning and hard work and really took a toll on Macek's health. And I'm sure he had no idea what demon of a company Harmony Gold would transmogrify into. They had to do it. At that time in the 80s it was the norm that a cartoon had 65 episodes in the season. Its what hollywood & MSM is doing for the past 4 years.Yeah, but they don't count because reasons. Just forget that they exist and realize that anime has no strong female characters because the industry is sexist and hates women due to it being flooded with incels.
In my opinion Bubblegum Crisis & Macross have the best anime soundtrack.Yep, those were the rules for syndication (at least, back then - I have no idea what they are now). Also, yes, Misa Hayase is an indelible Macross character, along with Lynn Minmei, Claudia LaSalle, Milia Jenius, and hell even the bridge bunnies.
For more anime "strong female characters", look up the original Bubblegum Crisis, one of the best OAV series to come out of the 80's.
BGC is absolutely one of the best. Also, the spinoff "AD Police Files" is equally as good. The original, not the late 90s reboot. In my opinion Bubblegum Crisis & Macross have the best anime soundtrack.

They have TREMENDOUS soundtracks, and even the BGM is amazing. BgC in particular is a sonic treat, as just-about every OAV has a memorable theme track and even great outro songs. And Macross' score and soundtrack is absolutely legendary, with shows like Frontier continuing that tradition (haven't seen Delta yet).In my opinion Bubblegum Crisis & Macross have the best anime soundtrack.

Iamagine the reee puritans would make if you would show them animes from 80s & 90s.BGC is absolutely one of the best. Also, the spinoff "AD Police Files" is equally as good. The original, not the late 90s reboot.
I hated the reboot. I only watched a few episodes, but it had absolutely none of the charm of the original and all the characters just seemed like bitter assholes. I always wondered if this was due, at least to some extent, to ADV partially funding the series and likely having a degree of creative input.BGC is absolutely one of the best.
