In unprecedented move, Israelis advised to avoid all travel abroad over virus

Health Ministry warning sees ‘high probability’ pathogen has now spread worldwide and is no longer containable; Israelis returning from Italy ordered to 14-day quarantine

In a dramatic statement Wednesday, Israel’s Health Ministry urged Israelis to seriously consider refraining from traveling abroad, as the country looked to isolate itself from the novel coronavirus outbreak rapidly spreading across the globe.

“If you don’t genuinely have to fly — don’t do so,” the ministry said in a travel warning.

In making the announcement, Israel became the first country to urge its citizens to refrain from international travel entirely because of the outbreak, which started in China in December and has since infected over 80,000 worldwide and claimed well over 2,000 lives, almost all of them in China.

The move comes after a series of additional countries announced they had identified cases of the virus on their soil over the past two days, including Brazil’s announcement of the first confirmed case in Latin America and uncontained outbreaks in Germany, Italy and other European countries.

Tuesday marked the first day since the start of the outbreak that more new cases were recorded abroad than in China, which has been the epicenter of the epidemic.

The statement also expanded a previous travel warning for northern Italy to the entirety of that country and ordered all Israelis returning from Italy to a 14-day home quarantine, effective immediately.

Israel has already banned the entry of any foreigners who have been to China, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand Singapore, South Korea and Japan in the 14 days prior.

Israeli officials said the new reports of coronavirus cases in Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Croatia, all announced over the past two days, appear to have arrived in those countries from travelers originating in Italy.

Other hotspots have been identified in South Korea and Iran.

“The current assessment is that there is a high probability that the pathogen has spread to additional areas in Europe and in many other places around the world,” the travel warning said.

The Wednesday statement advised the cancellation or delay of all international conferences and gatherings in Israel in the coming months, and to refrain from traveling to such events abroad, where the threat of contagion from multiple countries is higher.

It also urged the avoidance of travel to “events of a religious character at which people from many different nations gather together,” an apparent reference to Hajj, which falls in July.

Israel’s Health Ministry has taken an active approach to combating the spread of the virus here, going far beyond other countries in banning visitors from some countries and forcing Israelis returning from there into self-quarantine.

The ministry has faced some criticism for unnecessarily panicking people and causing economic and diplomatic damage to the country.

Ministry Director General Moshe Bar Siman-Tov told Channel 12 news that the ministry preferred to take harsher measures now than be sorry later.

The Foreign Ministry declined to comment on how the new directives could affect diplomatic work in Israel and abroad.

The Israel Defense Forces did not immediately respond to a question on whether the measures would affect any planned exercises with international partners.

So far, there have only been two confirmed cases in the country — both of whom were on a cruise ship where hundreds were infected and were already in quarantine when diagnosed.

However, over the weekend South Korea informed Israel that several members of a group of pilgrims who returned from a recent visit to the country were found to have the disease. Another four Israelis were being treated in Japan, where they were diagnosed as having the virus while still on the ship. On Tuesday one of the Israelis was given the all-clear to leave the hospital.

On Saturday authorities instructed some 200 Israeli students and teachers to self-quarantine due to their contact with the group of South Korean pilgrims. It is not clear whether the Korean tourists were already infected while in Israel.
Watch Israel do what is needed to be done while the US refuses to do so.

Why pence? He's not a doctor

Sorry guys but can I ask for advice on calming down?
I lurked on /pol/ conspiracies and now I'm genuinely panicking- even though I know that /pol/ tried to predict HAPPENINGS before and failed. But still I can't keep my mind off them because its the type of person I am (I'm easily bothered by things like hiccups and can't make them go away). I know that there's the part of me left that some soldiers won't suddenly come up to my door and assassinate me because I made edgy jokes, I don't know why I'm freaking out like those gangstalker people now.

p-pls help; I admit I have anxiety problems in the past but flinging my shit over something that won't probably happen will not help anything.
What are calming techniques to keep my mind rational and use common sense; mostly on the freaking out over conspiracy part because my brain is trying to believe that I'm gonna die.
I know its dumb but pls help :stress:
Learn to laugh at the darker side of life. Humor isn't just for entertainment, it's great for coping.

Imagine Corona-chan twerking in a crack den. If you can keep a straight face at the thought, make it more absurd.

Since we're all about forewarned is forearmed & trading prepper tips, here's some random info from a former poorfag:

  1. Dollar Tree sells snap & screw lid containers for cheap, helping to keep critters out of your foodstuffs.
  2. Hillbilly toothpaste is 2 parts baking soda to 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide. Both ingredients are cheap & have other uses. The result is much more liquid than conventional toothpaste but very effective. Caveat: if you have any cuts in your mouth, the peroxide will find them; it'll burn for a few seconds & the cut will turn white for a few minutes. Caveat 2: it doesn't taste great, but a drop of extract (mint, cinnamon, etc.) is often used to counteract this. Don't go overboard, that shit's stronger than advertised.
  3. So you've got piles of red/pink/black beans ready for the apocalypse, but either they get boring or this all blows over & the supplies need eatin' up. Brown some meat in a deep pot, toss in pre-soaked beans, cover with water by a few inches, add some hot sauce, bay leaf, salt, & pepper, and boil it uncovered down into sludge. Stir frequently, especially as it thickens. (This will take 4-8 hours depending on quantity, so settle in.) It'll look like cat-sick but be rather tasty, especially with a bit of mustard on top at the end. Makes bland rice palatable if you plop it on top. Congrats because, depending on your choice of meats, you've just made NOLA-style red beans & rice without using Zataran's garbage.
  4. Have a 4+ qt dutch oven & a working heat source? Throw 3 cups flour, 1.25 teaspoons salt, & 0.25 teaspoon dry yeast into a bowl & stir. Add 1 & 1/3 cups water, stir until it's a ball. Kneading not necessary. Cover, let sit overnight (12-18 hours). Plop it out onto a piece of parchment paper, or, failing that, a HEAVILY floured clean towel. Let it rise another 90 minutes. Heat oven to 450*F with the dutch oven (or other big, covered, heat-safe pot) on the low rack to heat up with it. Plop the dough ball into the pot, parchment on bottom, or scoot it off the towel into the pot floured side down. It'll look a mess, don't worry about it. Cover & bake about 30 minutes or until it's peanut-colored. Remove lid & bake more until a deep walnut brown (15-30 mins). Try not to eat by yourself in one sitting nor burn yourself on the verdamnt lid. Goes damn well with herbs & olive oil.

Woman treated for coronavirus again tests positive
https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/news/20200227_12/ (http://archive.vn/HjykE)

Thursday, February 27, 0:13 (UTC)

Officials of Osaka Prefecture, western Japan, say a woman in her 40s, who had been treated for symptoms of the new coronavirus and left hospital early this month, has again tested positive.

The woman is a tour guide living in the city of Osaka.
She was on a bus carrying tourists from Wuhan, China, in mid-January, and tested positive on January 29.

The woman was discharged from a local medical institution on February 1, and was confirmed as virus-free on February 6.

But on February 19, she felt throat and chest pain. After several visits to the doctor, she was tested a week later and tested positive again.

The woman reportedly wore a mask and stayed at home after leaving the medical institution.

She did not go to work, and had no close contact with anyone. She is now hospitalized in the prefecture.

Prefectural officials believe that either viruses that remained in the woman multiplied, or the woman was re-infected.

An expert on infectious diseases at Osaka University says people who are infected develop antibodies, so they can usually avoid re-infection by the same virus.

However, if there had not been enough antibodies, that individual could have been prone to re-infection or viruses that had been undetected in the body could have multiplied.
