Shitty governments, terribad healthcare for everyone not ultra rich/elite, pretty much everyone in a position of power being a superstitious idiot with zero forward thinking or awareness of how basic shit works, an inherent distrust of any warnings from the outside world, and most importantly a government that can and will go all out in censoring the truth and covering shit up for fear of looking weak, thus ensuring shit spreads unabated within their borders as absolutely nobody wants to admit shit is going wrong.

This latter point especially is key, and is why india seems to be doing a hell of a lot better than china despite sharing most the above factors, as those in government and media aint got the proverbial gun to the head to convince them to downplay and deny shit

That excuse falls flat on its ass when the sensible thing to do would be to make all medical facility staff wear masks as a precaution to begin with. They're not saving anyone by prohibiting masks, and they know it. If they didn't want panic, they wouldn't let the infected wander around in plain sight in that joke of a QZ. Non-staff people are starting to wear masks in the hospital here as well. Many patients and the servicemen's families are civilian lives too, and when we start getting infected, what will that do to their perception of panic?

China has some of the smoggiest and dirtiest cities in the world.

Chinks do not smoke. They chainsmoke at a level that would leave most choking. They have made it into an art form.

Your average eastern eurpoor like me smokes a pack or two at worst a week. Its expensive.
Chinks? A day at best, they get it cheaply at home. Plus our air is rather clean, theirs is very bad.

But eastern european health care is at best on par with China.

In Hungary, stores are getting cleaned out of flour and rice, and tinned food is getting a lot of attention too .

Most people are not preppeing for apocalypse, just a month-long quarantine.

There is also the sentiment that Slavs and Huns are STRONK and will bitchslap ching chong disease like a whore's filthy cunt.

Tldr people are mostly afraid of food shortage.

I am sure we'll get hit, prepped two days in advance.

there are a lot of people in cities in iran and not much organization. for example there is a ton of traffic, and very few lights, so watching people drive there is insane.

just sort of doing whatever works surprisingly well for getting people to drive from one place to another, not so great for getting people to stay home when they are sick or to be hygienic. I know china is really disgusting when it comes to hawking up phlegm in public, or letting little kids shit or piss on curbs, maybe Iran has a similar thing.

Aren't people contagious while not showing symptoms / testing negative? I'm wondering if you need a longer period of testing negative before you're finally cured.

I'd be pissed if my commander told me "just a flu Airman Skeltal, take off that mask or I Article 15 you." Considering the containment breaches at Travis, their base commander must be an absolute incompetent tard.
Most desk jockey officers fall into two camps: great at their job, never promoted because he's essential in that position or horrible cocksucker that gets promotions if only to move him out of the unit. I can almost guarantee you that Travis AFB's commander is the latter if he's thumping AFI 36-2903 about face masks when there's a horrid new dread disease in "quarantine" on his base.
It's in his power as base commander to make local orders, including amending AFI 36-2903 (Dress and Appearance) to fit mission requirements. Not having Amn Snuffy's lungs melt out due to Corona-chan is pretty important to maintaining mission readiness.

I remember reading an interview with a doctor that was published a few days ago in some tech newspaper. According to the doctor Sweden only has the capacity to treat around 100 corona patients. Don't you just love the new, exciting Sweden?

1.1 million Doctors
2.6 million Nurses
1.5 Certified Nursing Assistance's

5.2 million of just those 3 not counting all the other people who work in the field.
How many billions of masks do you think there are?
What would happen even if you did have that number of masks but no one else in the US(maybe world) could get one because you are using all of them?

"they should just do X" is the dumbest phrase ever invented by humanity.
