Just more grandstanding from Fauxcahontas as she tries to salvage her failed presidential campaign. She knows Cocaine Mitch won't let this bill come to the floor, so she can make a lot of noise about "bluh bluh raycis wall FUCK DRUMPF" while knowing that she doesn't actually have to back it up.

Why is this shocking? It's in Mississippi. If it was say a "purple" state like Florida or even a light blue state, then it would be interesting.

The Delta in Mississippi is a pretty blue area, not enough to overcome the rest of the state when it comes to presidential/Senate races but historically represented by a Democrat in the House. Looking at the article, the Dems in question that flipped aren't from there, instead being somewhat red counties southeast of Jackson. The positions are also judges and clerks, not really like state reps or senators flipping from red to blue.

Still, it's interesting that quite a few flipped at once. Could be a one-off thing, but it's not unprecedented; see Jeff Van Drew in New Jersey for a more high-profile flip.

Blue as in the same kind of blue that you get from a lot of rural, poor, predominantly-black areas in the South. If you've seen a map of 2016 broken down by counties, the Delta is the western side of Mississippi that voted for Shillary, just like the Black Belt in Alabama did.

The state as a whole is still pretty solidly Republican, true, but the Dems still keep a hold of the rural black areas.
