Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Here's the WHO's final report on the Wuhan Flu. Among its recomendations: looking at Traditional Chinese Medicine and the use 5G for rural responses.

The WHO has proven themselves to be completely useless. If they never existed to begin with, we’d be at the same point we are now.

Oh fucking great Qtards already think the pandemic isn't real and is caused by 5g. Now they'll be shooting at phone technicians in my hicktown like that lady did back in November.

It takes about a month to load a ship heading out of China, 2 weeks for it to get anywhere, and 4 weeks for it to be fully unloaded.

You're right about supply chain disruptions for the most part. I simply have to have an autstic spergout on your loading times as someone who is familiar with the movement of commodities.

It depends on the product you are moving in terms of load time and also depends on if it is containerized or a bulk cargo. I'd say 2-3 weeks is more normal than a month. Same with offloading but that depends on the port. However, it takes more like 2-4 months for the cargo to arrive depending on destination. This time is obviously less the closer you get to Chinese ports. We are seeing some supply chain disruptions now, but the impact will show a little more latency in my opinion.

Many companies are about to have some really bad earnings come 1Q and 2Q report time. I guess it also gives them an opportunity to hide some other unrelated losses in the reports and just blame it on Corona Chan.

Not sure if this has been posted yet (this thread moves fast, holy FUCK), but the dipshit who lied about not being sick to get rescued from the Diamond Princess wrote an article. Rate me optimistic, but I very desperately want it to be true that if this old boomer fully recovers and DOESN'T succumb to a cytokine storm after reinfection, then most of us Farmers will make it. At the same time, though, I lowkey hope that these mild symptoms dupe him into thinking it'll be fine the same way he and his wife duped everyone else into thinking that they weren't infected, and something tells me karma's about to take him out.

My dad and I stocked up big time last night. My radio is coming today and we have enough propane to last a loooong time if shit goes down (which again, I don't think it will but lord knows what'll come in the way of hurricanes this summer). I'm actually pretty proud of him for being gracious enough to humor my prepping given the fact that everyone else is panicking and over-buying. It actually proved to be a pretty fun bonding experience between the two of us, even if mom thinks we're both idiots. Needless to say, I'm feeling a lot better now that we have what we need. No one is really panicking here in Texas yet btw. We've had water shortages in stores but that's because there was a water main break downtown. Everyone here is acting pretty normal. Guess it's because everyone here has a gun and knows it.

Also, Trump said 22 cases. Does he means that there's only 22 active cases after the 60+ cases that were previously listed? I'm confused.

Even the n95’s are of limited benefit. Most Corona Virus’s are small enough to penetrate them. The masks only become useful in a dense contact situation. Such as healthcare workers providing direct care to infected patients. For normies the only place they might provide some benefit is in a densely packed situation. Like an Asian commuter train. There is almost no place in the US that would equal those those types of dense human contact. While airborne the biggest risk will be surface contact. Hence wash your hands a lot and use hand sanitizers. The average persons greatest risk of airborne infection will be from those you live withor work very closely with.
Have you been on the NYC subway during rush hour? Asian commuter train levels and then some.

Going to COSTCO to prepare today lads. What should I get?

ATM I think the 10lb bag of rice, big box of Brita filters, the 25lb bag of all purpose flour, the 10 gallon jug of canola or peanut oil, 5lbs of powdered tard cum (or maybe the shelf stable tard cum if they have it in bulk), 10lbs of beans, 10lbs of butter (you can freeze it), bulk jerky, though not sure how much, a big bag of potatos, onions, and a couple blocks of their big ass cheese.

Don't know if this is enough for 3 people to last 2 months if we need to self quarantine. Thoughts?
Carrots and cabbage heads are nearly as stable as potatoes and onions, they just have to be kept somewhere cool and dark. If you like ginger and can still get it, you can preserve it indefinitely in vodka or sherry. If you like garlic, get a big bag of the peeled stuff, chop it in a food processor and cover it in oil. It will keep in a cool place for months like that.

Also, make sure you have baking soda, baking powder and salt at home too, because flour is pretty much worthless without leavening to cook with.

I'm a kidney transplant patient on immunosuppressants. The President of the United State just basically said I'm fucked. I'm sorry, how is this supposed to quell panic again? Because I'm freaking the hell out.

I'm sorry for you, but we are all fucked. And this is not even that deadly a pandemic. Imagine this with Enoba or Pestilence. Perhaps Globalism is why the Fermi paradox exists. Travel tech improves ahead of medicine tech and pandemic wipes out the ayy-lmaos before they can phone us.

I was in my local ICU back in july. I was the only person in there under 70 that wasn't a worker. It was packed full of semi dead and fully dead boomers. Field hospitals gonna start popping up. No way our healthcare system can handle this without government intervention. Maybe this will wake up neocons and neolibs that spreading democracy around the globe isn't worth the time and money and we should be spending that money here on infrastructure. All the problems with the us healthcare system at the end of the day it's still the best in world even with all the price gouging. This will tear through developing countries like the plague did in europe.

Hope this isn't late,...Im still catching up on this thread. Shit is going down right now.
Corona-chan has claimed her first US death.

[edit- sorry guys, I was still about 5 pages behind when a friend sent me the link]

Yeah there was a little bit missing from that speech. The healthy go through a process. The unhealthy aren't mentioned.

If you live in a rural area it's not likely that you will be exposed to it. In suburban or urban areas, maybe. The best you can do is to protect yourself with social distance, wash your hands well (everyone does it wrong) and never fucking touch your face.

Got a call I don't have corona test results came back shockingly early still fucking off to my cabin in the woods. I got my shit moved over I'm not gonna leave until shit gets worse because my post is a hard one to fill but I'll be damned if I'm going be stuck dealing with what the nurses in China deal with. lol nope count me the fuck out.

You can still make hard tack with just salt, flour and water if it comes down to it. Will keep for years if not decades.

Corona-chan has claimed her first US death.

It was a woman in her late 50s who had a pre-existing medical condition. Most who are dying are at-risk ages, with health issues before they were infected, or those with shit health care (i.e developing countries or just plain 3rd world).

Get ready for a Sunday panic clearing of grocery stores

Just returned from the weekly shopping trip to the commissary.

Got almost everything on the list. Some things were in short supply on the shelves, such as big bottles of water, certain brands of rice in 15-pound bags, toothpaste, and hand sanitizer, but not that many. Got some extra paper products, batteries, trash bags, and dishwashing liquid.

Didn't see any panic buying.

Stonks are important very important. Don't panic, consume product and get excited for next product. The whole point of global trade, was to help prevent a 3rd world war. Any country who tried to start a war would be committing economic suicide. Turns out preventing one apocalyptic scenario just leaves us vulnerable to another.

Humanity has survived two massive world wars. Who even knows how many past wars. Japan rebuilt after getting hit by two nukes. There have been umpteenth plagues in the past that wiped out huge swathes of humanity. Unless this mutates to a 95% kill and 90% infected we'll be just fine. It'll be lean times sure, life will be disrupted, but at the end of the day humans are incredibly adaptable and we will adapt. We don't have any other choice. That and the fact if community transmission is occurring in the states and we don't know how many people actually have it that still means most cases are mild and give you standard flu like symptoms that people go about their day and recover from. Otherwise you'd have people dropping dead at record levels and drawing government attention to those areas, which hasn't occurred.

There's no problem with prepping for a possible quarantine in your community, or if you're someone immuno-compromised and able to go to a cabin or w/e, and observing the advice of washing/sanitizing hands and doorknobs, etc. The world is ending commentary in this thread is getting old.
