SoCal reporting. Family has base access so we do our shopping at the commissary, and we go to a pretty popular one in the area. It was packed, looked like both regular Sunday shoppers and preppers, about half and half. Extremely long line, but went very quickly and everything was well stocked, save for chicken breasts. The cashier told us it had been like this nonstop for days now. I get the feeling the military had some anticipation of this being a big deal and overstocked.

I think that's how I'll do my shopping.

Might be time to fire up the retiree card again.

Reporting today from the Mid Atlantic region of the United States, just South of the Mason-Dixon line. Costco seems to be slammed with spergs, but this appears to be a regular Sunday at the Costco. No extra spergery, all pretty normal.

With the occasional every fucking customer talking the long way around the coughing Asian person.

Northeast here, no nearby infecteds, and situation same as you. I'm in an area with over half a dozen groery stores within a 15 minute drive, not counting the many Dollar Generals/Fambly Dollars etc. Went to 2 diff Walmarts and did the bulk of my prepping. Got stuff I usually buy, but more and lots of long shelf life items. I have water for a month now, food for probably 2, and won't touch it til shit gets full Venuzela.

Neither store was particulary more crowded than a normal Sunday. 1 dude in a mask. I tried to hide my powerlevels by splitting the bulk purchases between the stores, and in both there was pallets of TP, paper towels, and water (Walmart 40 packs of 16.9 oz at less than $3 is da bomb yo). They were still stocking shelves, and a delivery truck was pulling out of one store.

The only thing I saw sold out was bleach--didn't even look in the 1st store, but in the 2nd there were just half gallons and various scented. I'm going to hit another store on the way home from work tomm as I want a couple gallons of unscented, and I could use a little more in the way of canned goods and ramen.

These people in Iran are fucked, and as in the case of China, we aren't going to know the true number of infected.

Hey does anyone here know about bleach?

I always just look for "kills everything" bleach. The scented stuff is obviously to be avoided because a scent just equals less bleach. But I do want to know what the fuck is in the "anti-splash" shit that Clorox makes. How the fuck do you make bleach less splashy? do you make it more viscous or something? And I also imagine anti-splash bleach is also not worth buying.

Just buy regular bleach, Family Dollar sells it for $1 a gallon.

Well fuck me sideways, go enjoy vidya for rest of the day and there has been more habbedings in Finland in the meanwhile. Pretty interesting stuff

Is this the ITIS shopping center with the KELA office that usually has lines of Somali women waiting in a circle around the building?

Stop reading trash on /pol/ (which is usually /x/ nutters posting crap). While you're right about some things on others you're on the 5G causes Wuflu level of autism. Also stop sending letters/emails to politicians; they won't read them, a staffer does and if you continue you'll be marked a crazy conspiracist and possibly end up on a list.

Going off of your meds was a mistake.

Oh man, and here I was willing to believe that was a 1 off pasta. There's a sequel?

You have absolutely no idea what is happening here, do you?

COVID-19 has a 5 day median incubation period. Outliers can take as long as 27+ days.

It has asymptomatic transmission; carriers can neither be detected nor contained.

It can be transmitted through airborne aerosols and through feces and urine. Like SARS-CoV, it can contaminate sewage and aerosols from that sewage can sicken people. In the Amoy Gardens incident in Hong Kong, hundreds were sickened by poo gas rising up through their floor drains. I’m not even kidding. There was a whole study on it. Those high-rise apartments in China with floor drains that all lead to the same sewage drainpipe are a cross-infection risk, chimneying the virus up through all the apartment units. Quarantining people inside them is insane.

The virus causes mild flu-like symptoms at first, but then progresses to bilateral viral pneumonia with ground-glass opacities in the lungs that can be clearly seen on CT scans:

COVID-19 can cause myocarditis and cause your heart muscle to start dissolving into your bloodstream, which, in turn, increases blood myoglobin levels and causes acute kidney failure requiring dialysis.

It can cause massive bacterial co-infections:

This, of course, in addition to neurological symptoms from the virus actually infiltrating CNS tissue and blood vessels of the brain, which is probably why people keep collapsing to the ground and seizing.

Clinical data were extracted from electronic medical records and reviewed by a trained team of physicians. Neurological symptoms fall into three categories: central nervous system (CNS) symptoms or diseases (headache, dizziness, impaired consciousness, ataxia, acute cerebrovascular disease, and epilepsy), peripheral nervous system (PNS) symptoms (hypogeusia, hyposmia, hypopsia, and neuralgia), and skeletal muscular symptoms. Data of all neurological symptoms were checked by two trained neurologists. RESULTS: Of 214 patients studied, 88 (41.1%) were severe and 126 (58.9%) were non-severe patients.

Not just the lungs. Heart, kidneys, liver, brain, blood vessels, and, yes, even the testes. Anywhere in the body that has ACE2 receptors in the tissues (a whole shitload of different tissue types).

Oh, what’s this?

Results: We found that our posterior estimates of basic reproduction number (R) in Wuhan City, China in 2019-2020 is calculated to be as high as 7.05 (95%CrI: 6.11-8.18) and the enhanced public health intervention after January 23rd in 2020 has declined R to 3.24 (95%CrI: 3.16-3.32), with the total number of infections (i.e. cumulative infections) estimated at 983006 (95%CrI: 759475-1296258) in Wuhan City, raising the proportion of infected individuals to 9.8% (95%CrI: 7.6-13.0%). We also found that most recent crude infection fatality ratio (IFR) and time-delay adjusted IFR is estimated to be 0.07% (95% CrI: 0.05%-0.09%) and 0.23% (95%CrI: 0.17-0.30%), which is several orders of magnitude smaller than the crude CFR at 4.06% Conclusions: We have estimated key epidemiological parameters of the transmissibility and virulence of 2019-nCov in Wuhan, China, 2019-2020 using an ecological modelling approach. The power of our approach lies in the ability to infer epidemiological parameters with quantified uncertainty from partial observations collected by surveillance systems.

Epidemiological models indicate that China is only detecting 5% of all infections. So the real numbers are 20x what we’re being told, and if there’s no ”iceberg” of mild cases and the crude IFR is wrong, then guess what? 50k to 300k people could already be dead by now.

The math doesn’t lie. If this fucking thing hits New York and infects 1,000,000 people, that’s 200,000 severely ill people and 26,451 hospital beds for them. If we have a Wuhan-like event in an American city, we will literally need tent cities with negative-pressure tents and hundreds of thousands of beds to deal with the inevitable surge.

They took over sports stadiums and college dormitories in Wuhan to treat people. The hospitals had people on beds out in the hallways because all the rooms were full. All their temporary infirmaries are packed to the fucking gills.

This is a once-in-a-century plague. This is no little Swine Flu. This is the real fucking deal.

Anti splash is thicker, smother liquid with the trade off having less sodium hypochlorite. It just bleaches laundry without actually disinfecting.

I have been studying this thing since around Jan. 25th. I am absolutely stunned by how slow and pathetic the official response has been. It’s like they want people to die. It’s insane.

This virus is not “just a flu”. It’s not “just a respiratory disease”, either. SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV-2 are monster pathogens, and the latter, especially so, because of its ridiculously high R0 that overwhelms hospitals with waves of sick people.

I am in fucking contact with several high-level people over this, and I’ve done meta-analysis on several papers related to SARS and COVID-19, and this thing is beyond fucking fucked.

To quote myself:

Also, I sent a 3600-word nastygram to Senator Blumenthal, Dr. Redfield, and Secretary Azar, which, of course, they have not returned:

SARS-CoV-2 does not merely cause mild flu symptoms that progress to bilateral viral pneumonia with ground-glass opacities in both lungs. That would be bad enough on its own.

No, it causes myocarditis in your heart, and then, your heart breaking down gives you rhabdo and kidney failure from all the myoglobin circulating in your bloodstream.

Your own prevotella gut bacteria starts infecting your body with massive bacterial infections because of your overtaxed immune system being driven to its limit.

Autoimmune reactions destroy the alveoli in your lungs until your lungs look like goulash. Your liver and kidneys and blood vessels all start shitting themselves, and blood clots consisting of clumps of your dissolved heart, viruses, and bacteria turn your bloodstream septic while also giving you heart attacks and/or strokes.

Also, in hACE2 transgenic mouse models, it was shown that SARS-CoV could infect the brain through the olfactory bulb, just like naegleria fowleri amoeba. This may be the cause behind the mysterious sudden drop deaths that we’ve witnessed. If you can smell an aerosol holding the virus, that means it could have touched your olfactory bulb and entered your brain. SARS-CoV was found in the brains of victims in the 2003 outbreak.

The spike glycoproteins of this fucker have active furin cleavage sites that make its cell-to-cell fusion 1000 times more efficient than SARS. It latches to your cells using a similar mechanism to HIV spikes. It is optimized for high transmissibility between humans. If it wasn’t a gain-of-function pathogen that escaped a laboratory, then it sure as hell fucking looks like one.

This fucker is neurological. It attacks the heart. It destroys the kidneys. It also happens to turn your lungs into a great big pile of shit.

I have been banned from multiple communities for telling the fucking truth.

Wuhan does not have only 2,000ish dead. It’s more like 50k to 300k dead. The whole city is a graveyard full of screaming people and carrion birds that smell the decaying corpses and hunger for human flesh. Those welded-up apartments are full of dead people. Grandma’s bloated corpse is lying on the coffee table while her screaming grandkids are in the next room.

These motherfucking bureaucrat assholes need to get off their motherfucking asses and fucking act immediately!

I too learned what R0 means from watching Contagion, but that doesn’t mean I’m in any position of authority to tell the CDC, USPHS, or HHS how to do their jobs. I’m sure a virologist wouldn’t tell you how to do your job after watching Ford v Ferrari. Stop being exceptional and chill out lol

This nigga took all the blackpills. How much money have you spent so far prepping for this?

So I think the U.S. is openly screwed. They haven't taken proper measures, keep minimizing the disease in intensity, and the tests are still going out at a sluggish pace.

I have several family members that work in health care, and they've had several instances where the virus is treated as a joke, and inferring a patient might have it is topic to open ridicule.

Paranoia on overload? Maybe. But here's more firsthand experience, left vague as possible for obvious reasons:

I have a coworker who's girlfriend returned from abroad 3 weeks ago. She was screened for the virus and came up as negative. No quarantine. Then I personally started having symptoms that matched it a week ago. Not only have medical professionals refused to help me, the three places I called told me just to stay at home unless it intensified. No option for testing. Just stay home and ride it out. If critical call 911.

Worse, because of the climate in news media, my boss refused to grant time off or sick time, and I've been working in close quarters with many customers. What if I did have the virus? Fuck them I guess.

Now, to be fair, my paranoia has been cranked to 11. I'm simply giving my version. But if this was the response to all potentials, and even one had the virus, then how are we supposed to defend against it?

And what exactly would be “proper measures”? This is what everyone fails to grasp. In human history no government has ever succeeded in protecting you from or minimizing the spread of the common cold. This is basically that on steroids. The only thing you can do is be alert for it. The US did slow it somewhat by restricting direct travel from China. Which likely reduced the number of initial clusters we will see. But past that what should the government do? Any Government?

The most dangerous thing to the population and the society will be a panic run on healthcare services by those not requiring critical aid. Yeah the whole “it’s just the flu bro!” Thing. For most it will be. And you don’t want or need them panicking and sapping resources. You only want the very worst patients. The ones that require medical intervention, entering the system.

Deaths will occur. Most of those will be deaths that would have occurred anyway, and been unnoticed, except now everybody is primed to panic. Case in point that Washington Nursing Home. Let’s be honest. They are all going to die. Many Within the week. In early January this would not have been noticed, or simply noted as the toll a bad flu season takes on the elderly. They probably all have DNR’s and similar proxy orders in place anyway. But the media will use it to incite a panic.

So far the deaths observed outside of China and Iran, two places where a tremendous amount of bullshit is flying in every direction, there has not yet been any real spike in deaths. Mainly a few outliers. But still within the seasonal means. Even in China outside of Wuhan this seems to be the case. (Grantee Chinese numbers are bullshit. But it is harder to hide mountains of dead bodies in Beijing.)

Look, if it’‘s showing up in buttfuck nowhere northern Italy, Qom Iran, and Fucking Rhode Island, then it is everywhere. And it was everywhere at least a month before China let anybody know about it.

Haha. Ahah. Yeah.

MSA Millennium with Mira and Mestel 40mm CBRN filters, Duraskin gloves, Tyvek suits, Kappler Chemtape for my wrists, Diversey Virex and Oxivir disinfectant, drop cloths and duct tape to make a decontamination airlock, hatchet, hand-crank radio, matches, paracord, a ferrocerium firestarter, Lifestraw filters, chlorine tablets, canned food, Datrex bars, and all sorts of other shit. Oh, and a thousand rounds each of 9mm, 5.56x45mm, and .308, for my pistols and rifles, in case I have to shelter in place and someone comes for my supplies.

In this situation, no level of paranoia is too excessive. Even if this pandemic were to stall out, I wouldn’t even be mad I spent so much money. I’d just carefully store my stuff for next time.

If you have to go out in this shit, P100 full-face masks at the minimum. 40mm NATO CBRN better. Much better. And you have to decontaminate all the gear when doffing it, using quaternary ammonia or peroxide, and/or a UV lamp. It has to be full-face. The virus can enter your eyes through the ocular surface and it has 1000 times the cell-to-cell binding efficiency of SARS.

It looks like a lab-made GOF pathogen. It is practically optimized for human-to-human transmission, with spike glycoproteins with furin cleavage sites that use HIV-like methods to hook into human cells. It can effortlessly bind with your cells, unlike SARS-CoV.

You're already infected. All of that was a waste.

See?

Shutting down schools nationwide and using a little bit of forward thinking (hmmm where will this Virus likely be in 2 weeks?) certainly wouldn't hurt.
