You know, I'd be really interested to find out how many of all the deaths so far were people who are not:
a) over the age of 60
b) already suffering with some pre-existing health condition
c) a currently practicing healthcare professional
ETA: d) resident of China

Recently posted Medcram video looked at the (caveat: using official CCP stats) and linked to this paper:

Lol, Diseased Coast resulting in Costco runs.

Had a family member check Costco conditions in his area (midsize Great Lakes city), none of this is going on. Same where I'm at in TX. r/preppers has a number of threads reporting shortages by location if you can brave that particular flavor of autism (not linking). The tl'dr is most US places ok currently, sporadic panic buying of hygiene items esp. toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Oddly, bottled water? Bitch, this ain't a hurricane. Calm your tits and get you some bar soap.

The pet pharmacy is all out of Fish Mox antibiotics. There are cephalosporins and cipro from another supplier nope those are unavailable as well. Amoxicillin is unavailable. So it begins.

If you are going to buy fish antibiotics and you know when and when NOT to use them, try thomaslabs.com

Was that part ever actually confirmed? I remember people freaking out about it, but never a credible source.
The case reports (the JAMA one is posted way back in the thread) have quite a few cases of acute cardiac injury markers being raised. It’s certainly one thing this virus can do. What people usually think of as an heart attack’ is an infarction, which is most often from a blocked vessel, but there are other ways to damage the heart muscle. Big dumps of stress hormones like catecholamines can literally stun the heart muscle, and acute damage can be caused by injury and illness. Some viral infections like flu can damage valves and muscle too.

Turns out the WuFlu (COVID-19 or SARS-CoV-2) could possibly be a tad deadlier than SARS.

Compared with non-severe patients with COVID-19, severe patients commonly had neurological symptoms manifested as acute cerebrovascular diseases, consciousness impairment and skeletal muscle symptoms.
In conclusion, SARS-CoV-2 may infect nervous system, skeletal muscle as well as respiratory tract. In those with severe infection, neurological involvement is more likely, which includes acute cerebrovascular diseases, conscious disturbance and skeletal muscle injury. Involvement of the nervous system carries a poor prognosis.
Their clinical conditions may worsen and patients may die soon.

The retrospective case series study also includes Lab findings grouped by Symptom Category... medical Kiwis hf 🎉
Friendly disclaimer: This study hasn't been peer reviewed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ only the chinks could do a meaningful peer-review anyway.

Ok but how realistic is the specific Doomer scenario of:

Get WuFlu -> recover -> get it again -> "Oh fuck my heart!" -> dead?

That's still a lot of people if it gets really really bad.
It's terrible if you consider the human aspect of it. It means everyone on earth will either have a family member or acquaintance die to the wuflu. So while it's fun to shitpost about boomers kicking the bucket and freeing up all that prime real estate, in reality it's a lot of sad families. I try not to think about that usually because it's terribly sad and there's nothing which can be done against it beside cracking down hard, and no one is up to paralyzing humanity for a month.
It reminded me of a conversation I had with a coworker about a month ago when this thing was ramping up and he talked about how 2% mortality rate might actually be good for the planet and some nonsense. HOW DARE YOU and I uncharacteristically burst at the nigga. What the hell man, those are people with families. I blame Greta

Well fuck me sideways, go enjoy vidya for rest of the day and there has been more habbedings in Finland in the meanwhile. Pretty interesting stuff

Little out of order but I think this is the main thing

There are now six coronavirus cases in Finland

In Finland, a total of six people have contracted coronavirus. The latest positive came on Sunday, and the sufferer is close contact of the coronavirus case found on Wednesday.

Now back to order of appearance in news feed

The child went to school with mild symptoms

The National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa are currently holding a press conference on the state of the coronavirus epidemic in Finland and the progress of the work.
THL told a news conference that five confirmed coronavirus infections have been detected in Finland at present.
On Sunday morning, HUS announced two new coronavirus infections in Uusimaa. Infected are a man of retirement age and a child of school age. There are 15 close personal contacts - all reached and quarantined.

The pensioner had no contacts.
The student is estimated to have 130 contacts. He has attended school with mild symptoms, but her infectivity is estimated to be very low and the risk of infection is estimated to be low. In addition, he has been to football practice.

- The names are known and will be contacted, says Asko Järvinen.

Part of primary school to quarantine

Tapio Latvala, Principal of Viikki Normaalikoulu , says that part of the primary school is being quarantined due to a coronavirus case
According to Mayor Jan Vapaavuori, the school's classes and teachers will be quarantined for two weeks. In addition, HJK's junior football team -07 with their coaches and guardians will be quarantined.

18:41
The school's 130 exposed contacts will not be tested. The authorities hope that those quarantined will remain at home. If symptoms arise, they will be tested for coronavirus.
Family members are not quarantined. According to the risk assessment carried out by health care professionals, the risk of transmission to exposed children is low.

20:47
There were also three Terveystalo employees quarantined - the infected was an occupational health client

The person who became infected with coronavirus on Friday was Terveystalo's occupational health customer in Helsinki, says Terveystalo.
The patient had been shopping at Terveystalo Itäkeskus and Herttoniemi outlets for a week.
Terveystalo reports that three health care professionals have been in home quarantine for two weeks as directed by authorities

So for those of us who decided to go into bunker mode it's March so this is when you should start seedlings indoors (in growing season 5) I usually but tomato plants in April may but I'm going to start growing them myself this year (tomato plants are poisonous to cats so make sure to keep your moggies away from them). I'm going to try growing garlic as well.

I need bread recipes. I'll miss my sourdough.

I checked their site and they're stocked (who knows for how long though). Amoxicillin and cipro are good to have on hand during a disaster and while with this virus/flu they're useless it's a secondary bacterial infection that can do you in. So yes, I'd rather have them than not if supplies get tight.

I also have a moggy that's on antibiotics for life so they aren't a waste of money.

Nah, but stress can lead to your usual arrhythmias unable to sustain life.

I'm surprised the preppers in this thread never picked up on the fact that nicotine is an ACE2 inhibitor.

Even if it isn't as bad as people here think, any asshole who does this needs to be prosecuted and or sued for the costs of anyone who is infected by her. That is the only way to get idiots to not do that.

update: She had recently worked with Corona-patients as a doctor in Iran. Someone reported her to authorities on FfM airport today, before arrival. They sounded not very concerned there, and somewhat as if they didn't believe the person reporting on the woman. But the person was informed at least, that the woman will be approached by the medical team on the airport and will be tested. I do agree, so far it sounds all very asshole-ish and given she is a doctor, even more so. Seemingly they only have passengers fill out a questionaire. What else their protocol is, if every person coming in from Iran will be tested or not, if this flights passengers will be informed, I don't know.

Makes you wonder if any of the social elites have considered fleeing to their secret New Zealand bunkers yet
Bit late on that front.

@Otterly
I'd like some input on this stuff. Talked to some people about the virus and interesting points were brought up.

The following are claims, don't take it as fact.

The Wuflu originated from Murica. This is claimed by both Russia and Japan, so it's not some kind of Chinese "murica bad" statement.
There's a total of 5 clusters, China got case "C", however all 5 cases can be found in Murica. Iran has 2 other cases. Many die from the flu every year, it's just like Aussie bushfires, therefore no one really gave a fuck.

Last year in June and July, many people died from the flu. It was ultimately misdiagnosed, as it was actually some kind of Coronavirus. People thought it was due to vapers, however after testing on mice, this was ultimately disproven.

Japan made this claim because there's this couple who never contacted any Chinese but was diagnosed with the virus. They however did visit Hawaii, as many Chinese did as well, since it's a popular tourism destination. Here's Japanese news with Chinese translations. A third case from Hawaii.
View attachment 1166247
Assuming the translations aren't just lies, here's what's in it:
- Japanese returning to Nagayo from Hawaii, diagnosed with "the flu" in Hawaii
- Japanese diagnosis shows it's not just "the flu", it's actually the new coronavirus
- The person never contacted any Chinese
- This is why Japan isn't laying the blame solely on China, and they are openly questioning the true origin
- America doesn't want to test for the virus, claimed there's issues with the [I guess, testing kit]
- Hawaiian politicians already acquired testing kits from Japan

So to summarise...
- Russia and Japan think the virus might have originated from America
- Many cases relate to Hawaii
- Bats and wet markets whatever weird animal as filthy as they are, isn't the originator, but rather the catalyst (if my understanding is correct which it's likely not)
- People who have never contacted Chinese got the virus

Obviously, they might have contacted someone who got the virus from Chinese. However these claims do make sense. The Flu is something people assume and live with, yearly deaths big deal, so it wasn't really looked into. This is similar to Australian bushfires, it's "part and parcel" for residents of Australia.

I neither believe nor deny this theory. It just sounds plausible and worth sharing. I've been quite vocal with who I blame and I'll continue to do so.

I also learned some interesting stories from a friend that worked in one of Australia's P4 lab, it shocked and disgusted me, which also adds to many stories/cases we've seen here.

So yeah... P4 lab, shiny and strict on the outside but irresponsible fuckwits could roam the premise. There's many rules that people just can't be fucked to follow.

I also learned about an interesting factoid regarding to the Chinese treatment of the virus.
- Many deaths of the virus is due to suffocation
- Suffocation is a consequence of sputum clogging up breathing system... whatever it's called I'm no medical wiz
- Medical ventilator exacerbates the clogging
- So every now and then, they would use some medical equipment to declog, ie suck out all the crap that's causing breathing difficulties
- Due to this alone, virus deaths decreased by 50%

If all this turns out to be true, then the Chinese are fucking saints which is a pathetic reflection on how our shitty politicians are handling the virus. Yeah their numbers are underestimated, times it by 2 or 3, better than the "we aren't releasing any because it will cause panic" shit from our "servants", FFS. Does not matter, all we have to do is times the death toll by 50, then maybe another 2 or 3 to get a better interval. None of these are compliments, it takes a lot to be worse and slimier than corrupted politicians of China.

I miss these.

I wouldn't be shocked if the American strain did end up originating in Hawaii, or at least mutating here. Because of globalized travel from Asia this place has become a mess during flu season. You know how people get the flu shot each year based on the most likely candidate out of 3-5 flu strains? We get all 5 strains every year.

When I was a kid in high school I used to get sick with the flu every year. When I left to live on the mainland in a 90% white college town I got the flu once in 4 years. The proverbial "melting pot" is more like a racial petri dish.

So I think the U.S. is openly screwed. They haven't taken proper measures, keep minimizing the disease in intensity, and the tests are still going out at a sluggish pace.

I have several family members that work in health care, and they've had several instances where the virus is treated as a joke, and inferring a patient might have it is topic to open ridicule.

Paranoia on overload? Maybe. But here's more firsthand experience, left vague as possible for obvious reasons:

I have a coworker who's girlfriend returned from abroad 3 weeks ago. She was screened for the virus and came up as negative. No quarantine. Then I personally started having symptoms that matched it a week ago. Not only have medical professionals refused to help me, the three places I called told me just to stay at home unless it intensified. No option for testing. Just stay home and ride it out. If critical call 911.

Worse, because of the climate in news media, my boss refused to grant time off or sick time, and I've been working in close quarters with many customers. What if I did have the virus? Fuck them I guess.

Now, to be fair, my paranoia has been cranked to 11. I'm simply giving my version. But if this was the response to all potentials, and even one had the virus, then how are we supposed to defend against it?

You don't, the US starts failing around like China did and many realize we have managed to become just as exceptional as they are but from a "Democratic" angle.

You're more likely to see it develop somewhere like San Fran or New York. Somewhere the local asian population density is high over a smaller area, giving it a higher chance to spread quickly.

Hawaii won't escape it, most tourist spots will get hit to some degree. Convince Sen. Hirono to hug some coughing tourists and some good may come of it yet.
