You do realise that these videos are a load of shit right? They're not related to Corona Virus whatsoever.
It's Corona Virus. It may be novel/new, in the sense of it's strand, but it's not some new thing outright, people know how corona virus behaves.

Jesus christ everyone is being so autistic.... maybe the world should be cleansed.

More autism.

Ah yes, social order might be in danger, better secure some extra soft toilet paper to wipe my bum.

I am absolutely amazed by humanity's love for TP. No food? Fine. Can't wipe my bum with nice soft TP? I'm gonna riot, bitch!

That's way beyond autism if you're asking me.

There's been a lot of talk in here about "Who the fuck needs that much bog roll?!" .

It's a bit of a meme in survival/prepping forums that as far as I can see comes from a chap called Selco .

He lived in a Yugoslavia and spent a year in a city under seige. He initially wrote a full disclosure forum post years ago , and that has snowballed into a carreer as a famous SHTF subject matter expert.
I bought his book a year or so back - it's just a rehash of his free online stuff, but I didn't mind paying him a few quid.
One of the things I remember from it was him saying that toilet paper ran out very quickly , and was very sought after. He also mentioned stocking up on any sort of hygeine / cleaning supplies. Plus loads of disposable lighters, and cheap vodka/whiskey. These were good trade items, as well as being intrinsically useful .
I think "Buy toilet paper!" became an absolute rule amongst preppers, and this has leaked over into normie conciousness. At which point it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy as we've seen where it has run out.
Note that the shit he went through and wrote about is so far beyond the capabilities of most of the western population . It took a nasty civil war to get there, not a bad flu. Armed miltias of various sizes, private torture dungeons , random sniping.
Not just grilling stray cats on an improvised shopping trolley barbecue . That's the good times.

Why are people hoarding ass-wipe?

One major issue with hoarding anything, is that is you do get sick you are literally going to have to move mountains of stuff, when you are ill.

Imagine being laid up with the worst case of the flu and have family members knock down the piles of stuff that you have hoarded, to get to a can of soup, and find the can opener ...

My current theory is they anticipate the sheet of double and triple ply TP to become the new currency of exchange in the post apocalyptic wasteland.

The fact you're saying that tells me you've never had to wipe your bum with second tier TP. I say this is a perfectly reasonable and proportionate response to a disruption in the chain supply. I can live without water before I reduce myself to the savagery of buying another brand of TP! (Note. Sarcasm. Which is apparently needed nowadays...)

To answer your first question, of course they wouldn't be telling people to go to the hospital, it would only affect more people. The problem is their current plan is you're told to ring your GP (doctor). Your doctor will then tell you to contact the national health number, who, when you ring, will tell you to contact your GP. If you say you have, they'll pretty much say "sure, just self-isolate for a few days, it could be a flu" even if you're dying. Look it up on /r/ireland, while it may be anecdotal I have no doubt in my mind it's true, considering how woefully shit the public health service in Ireland is.

To put some perspective on things, the country for the past few years has been facing a massive health service crisis. Even in the past year before the coronavirus waiting times in the Accident & Emergency department can be up to twelve hours, but the main thing is there's not enough beds in the hospitals. Sick, or injured people are literally put on those trolleys they wheel you in on/to an operation on in the hallways. Elderly people have died waiting for assistance. The whole health service is massively underfunded, which has seen a large "brain drain" with nurses and doctors migrating to England, Canada and Australia.

Want to be a nurse? Oh, you're not going to be just a nurse. You're going to be doing the job of 3 nurses because there's not enough, and some other duties too like porting patients around. Want to be a doctor? Enjoy having to get the maximum amount of points in your Leaving Cert possible (final secondary school exams) passing college, then at the end of it all, having to be a junior doctor for a few years, in which your shifts will last 24 HOURS at a time. Seriously. Someone I know who was sick with cancer and had to use a walker was once led down the hall to their bed by a junior doctor, who halfway through had a microsleep and promptly fell against the wall. As they told me, this person looked more on death's door than they were.

OK, now I've given you a perspective on the Irish public health service. Factor in that there's an incredibly low amount of ICU beds, you can see how this is going to be a shitshow.

To answer your second question, in terms of parades, local towns are starting to come out now and cancel their parades, and rightly so. But I guarantee the show will go on in Dublin. Last time it was cancelled was because of Foot and Mouth disease in 2001, which Ireland contained to a great degree, with only a few sheep being having to be culled in one county. Unlike the UK, which lost a shitload of cattle and sheep to it, and cost them billions in the agricultural sector. And that's just it, the farmer's lobby doesn't care enough as they're rural and won't be affected, and this won't affect agricultural exports, so the government, which we don't really have at the moment because the recent election evened the parties out so there's no majority, doesn't care enough about the human cost. The ex-Taoiseach (Prime Minister) who still sort of serves said that there was no worry about public gatherings. So in good news his neoliberalist shitshow of a party is going to be tanked in the next election.

But it's not just Paddy's Day. The Irish Dancing World Championships take place in early April. I would hope that by that stage they'll cancel it because that event attracts thousands of people with Irish descent from around the world to one cramped convention centre in Dublin for 10 days. I hope the exponential growth of the virus at that stage will stop it from happening because it will be a big supplement to the parades fiasco.

In short, Ireland has always had a "sure, it'll be grand" attitude to everything. This time it's going to bite the country in the arse.
Said something similar a lot of pages back that the Freestate health service is a shit show even in times of non emergency. Is it any wonder why they telling people to stay at home because they can not cope nor are prepared for a situation like this. In fact i've heard if it wasn't for Filipino nurses it would have collapsed long ago.
Their soldiers are so under payed that alot of them are just walking out unannounced and/or stealing army equipment to sell over the border to basically survive.

The two Florida cases just passed away; the first outside of Commiefornia and Washington. Both were in their 70s, as are a few others who were just tested. I'm staying on my toes in the meantime. (Archive)

Florida reports 2 dead from coronavirus, first known fatalities on East Coast
Two people in Florida who tested positive for the coronavirus died, becoming the first known fatalities outside California and Washington state, health officials reported Friday.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an order on Sunday directing a public health emergency in the state after it recorded its first positive cases, but now two people, who were both in their 70s and had traveled overseas, have died, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The announcement raises the U.S. death toll from the coronavirus strain to 16, including 13 in the state of Washington and one in California.

LEBRON JAMES DOESN'T WANT TO PLAY IN EMPTY ARENA AFTER NBA CORONAVIRUS MEMO

One of the Floridian deaths was a man with underlying health issues in Santa Rosa County in Florida's Panhandle and the other was an elderly person in Lee County, in the Fort Myers area.

As of Friday night, seven people in the Sunshine State have tested positive for COVID-19, one of which is a non-resident, officials said
.

One of the new cases was only confirmed after the person had died, while two elderly men tested positive Friday in Broward County, ages 65 and 75, both of whom are in isolation. Five Florida residents who tested positive after traveling to China are also being quarantined.

The risk for those in Florida continues to remain low, authorities say, as most cases have been in Washington state and California
, where a cruise ship is being held off the coast after a passenger on a previous trip died and others became infected.

DeSantis asked state lawmakers Friday for $25 million so health officials can use it to combat the coronavirus with lab equipment and staffing, in addition to the expected $27 million in federal aid after President Trump signed an $8.3 billion coronavirus spending bill, along with $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

With spring break season hitting Florida, it is unclear what measures state officials will take, as Miami city officials canceled two large music festivals over fears of the new virus spreading.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Hotel in Quanzhou of Fujian province collapsed. 70 people buried under the debris.
It's one of these cheap hotels, and it's being used as some kind of a medical quarantine centre where professionals work and medical devices are used.

Someone claimed that the ground floor and second floors are “4S shops” (vehicle dealership, 4S = sales, survey, spares and service) that are undergoing construction, and someone knocked the main truss/foundation of the building. Basically this would be some kind of thick wall that's the main pillar-kind structure to hold the building up.

Smart, did they learn construction skills in their math classes?

I see two chimps, one is hoarding toilet paper, the other is being a typical animal.

This cult of the markets is going to be the end of us.

We've replaced an interest in enriching citizens with a fetish for "Graph shows upward trend".

Also throw in the blind faith in infinite growth that means it's not enough to accept a guaranteed small return, it has to increase every year..... globalism did indeed replace religion for a lot of people, the Cult of the Market making them believe that increaseing human misery is a noble goal if the side-effect is bigger market shares and wider profit margins on stocks.

Horseshoe Theory is right again. This Neo-Globo-Capitalism is as bad as Luxury Space Communism in that regard, "The lesser people must die to feed the advance of the almighty system"

You're libtard.

I remember my close relatives buying industrial amounts of TP in the early 90s whenever they had the chance because stock was spotty in post Soviet Eastern Europe. I also remember taking a dump at my grammy's house and being intently focusing on crinkling up that glossy receipt paper roll so I could use it more efficiently on my ass because she had no TP proper. My advice is forget about the fucking TP. After food start buying up party liquor. Your fat fuck goober neighbors will be outbidding each other over how manycrates of TP your bottle of cheap Belorussian vodka is worth two weeks into the quarantine.

Here's a good article on how Washington State has been able to test for and confirm coronavirus cases, at least where victims are already severely symptomatic, despite the best efforts of the CDC and the Trump administration.
UW has a great hospital, in fact I would urge kiwis to go there before they go to other hospitals if at all possible- I knew someone who got injured once on the job and went to a drive thru clinic. They poo-pooed it. Later it got worse, he went to UW, they took it seriously and wanted to treat it BUT because he'd shown up a doc-in-the-box first, his insurance company refused to shift care for the injury to UW. So he had to go back to the original idiots who dragged their feet forever before finally referring him on.

TL/dr: If in Seattle, if at all possible, head straight to UW and sort it out later.

This is exactly the kinda posts we need right now. In case of local hospital collapses. I urge inyernational Kiwis who can do so to state thir pick for whatever are they're from. The virus won't be as dangerous as the lack of care in certain areas. For broke kiwis and specially eurofags who get open borders I already recommended seville. They're probably already dealing with your asshole boomer neighbors, might as well get there too.

Is it expensive?

“despite the best efforts of the CDC and the Trump administration.”

Nigger, literally in the article you posted it talks about how the FDA stepped aside and gave that Seattle lab the green flag so they wouldn’t have to wait on them.
Archive doesn’t even mention Trump by name. And it’s an NPR article to boot.

I was going to say to keep your Trump autism to yourself.
But this isn’t even autism, this is just flat out lying. And it’s not the first time you have done it.
Your disinformation campaign is certainly not appreciated here. I suggest you leave.

For a guy who says that he's Iranian, you would think that he might be more concerned about it ravaging his own country.

That R0 is incredibly optimistic for the USA. All it takes is some selfish asshole to "just go about living their life" to infect scores of other people, and the US is full of those idiots.
We are a country that has never been bombed. Our civilians are stupider than shit.
Years ago I used to work a job where my boss was an old Irish guy who'd witnessed some of the troubles there. One day, someone left a backback up against the building. I wanted to retrieve it, but he wouldn't let me. "You never touch shit like that in the street, it could be a bomb or worse". Yeah, we are way different from many other cultures on that level
