Gonna be honest, I'm just here to see Steven turn into a giant spiked worm. How bad is his stress gonna get before he mc-fuckin' snaps like dry pasta?
It still pisses me off that Becky panders to sjws but won't give fans the real answers like where the fucking gems and diamonds came from, what happened to the cluster (and what it actually looks like) and those abomination experiments but no, FUCK YOU TAKE THIS BLATANT SNOWFLAKE AND LIKE IT, THIS IS YOUR CONTENT NOW (yeah, there are times where "it's better off left to speculation to make a better show" but this show has been a dumpster fire for like three seasons now.)

I dropped the show shortly into the second season. Was there ever a reason given for everyone not having religion or an interest in the supernatural? It was part of the reason I dropped the show, as all the human characters came across as dull-witted cattle and the only one that had any interest in the aforementioned was Ronaldo who was a caricature.

It officially starts next week. Starting then, the show will go full on misery porn for Steven and we’ll finally see him snap and maybe see him get better. Maybe.

The only concrete thing about not having a faith was that SU takes place in an alternate universe where religion and most holidays don’t exist, presumably due to gem influence.
As for why the humans are so dull towards Gem stuff, we only have the vaguest implication that they’re just plain used to all the bullshit going on but that’s it. If the show better integrated humans into the Gem stuff and fleshed them out beyond one note caricatures, they’d probably be better received.

Nope.

However, the closes we got to someone having a religion was the gem empire having a temple dedicated to a moon goddess. But that was forgotten for some reason.

Not the place, but the fact that they hinted at them having deities of sorts.

Watching Future at this point is like following some chick's vent page. You thought you were gonna see some wholesome stuff but all you get is the basic "communicate your feelings" and "love yourself " mental health messages interspliced with muh anxiety muh depression posting.

Pretty much every episode is side characters doing actual interesting shit while steven turns pink and crys in the corner.

Sometimes I think that with "no religion" she meant "no Christianity", since it's probably the most followed religion in the USA and Christians are white colonialists source of all evil/S.

Ronaldo may be a caricature, with his obsession for mysterious events and conspiracy theories, but actually if I'm not mistaken he is the first to talk about the Great Diamond Authority and the Cluster. Yes, it's silly that only one human is interested in the gems. One thing I always found weird is that there are a lot of gem structures on the Earth and the Moon, and apparently no human government tried to study them, understand how they work or try to replicate the technology. A "Evil government /evil human is using gem technology to build weapons" could have been a path to follow through, after the show decided to become edgy, abandoning the "feel good show with magical protagonists".

It honestly refreshing to see somewhere that will actually criticize the show to any extent. Everywhere I go has been praising this show to high heavens. /co/ has to be weirdest place so far, since anytime you try to criticize Future, you’re accused of projecting or encouraging toxic behavior. But then again it’s /co/ which is probably even worse than Reddit or tumblr.

Rant aside, Future (like vanilla SU) has a ton of good ideas but piss poor execution. The first few episodes held a lot of promise and it seemed like it was going somewhere interesting but didn’t pan out so well. But because it’s so good at pulling at heartstrings, it gets a pass from everyone (Seriously, ask someone why Future is good besides the feels.)

You're not alone. I hate that not liking something about or just not liking Gay Space Rocks in general and preferring to watch other stuff over such overrated mediocrity / SJWBS at worst is such an unpopular opinion, honestly.

All I know is willing myself to watch this SJWBS eventually is gonna be a real chore to do. Especially since there's hundreds of other animated shows and mostly live-action films I could sit down to and enjoy, imstead...

I feel like having the show be about Steven is a crutch because Cartoon Network doesn't want a female lead show. I wish the show was just about Pink's journey instead so it would focus on gem stuff. That's just me though.
Then again, Infinity Train had female leads while Steven is based on Sugar’s irl brother. I’m guessing the focus on Steven is due Sugar’s attachment to the character because of that, rather than studio interference.

It really does disturb me how emotionally attached people are to this one cartoon. I realize that this is a loaded statement but there are times when I need to say “it’s just a cartoon, not real life” to people.

It's clownworld at the moment, nigga. You should expect nothing less.

What? there's been a bunch of female led CN shows. PPG of course, but also Ami Yumi, Juniper lee, and the recent Infinity Trian.

The emotional attachment really seems to come down to, "MUH REPREEESENTAYSHUN", something SJWs - being SJWs - love using as a crutch.

That said, I really do think the whole "Steven POV only" schtick ultimately became more of a bane to the show than a boon. That kind of narrative is better suited for short-term stories than long ones, imho.

EDIT: Typo.

LMAO, you reminded me of tumblr back before 2015-ish and about how there was a troll post saying the show had been cancelled after its 3rd season and tons of "muh anxiety and depression" girls were like 'OMG IT CAN'T END, IT'S THE ONLY WAY I DEAL WITH MY ANXIETY AND SUICIDAL THOTS" and it's time to get some goddamn medication or a therapist, because everything ends eventually and clinging to a "muh representation, muh gender feels" show to keep you non-sucidal is the least fucking healthy coping mechanism there is.

I know this doesn't have anything to do with the current season, but I liked the first Steven Universe mobile RPG. It was a decently fun game inspired by the Mario & Luigi series.

But I'll likely never play it again, since I've completely lost interest in the show and everything related to it.

Speaking of “mental Health” that isn’t anything new for Steven Universe either. In fact that’s been the case since the very start.

You see, Steven Universe doesn’t think of evil as malicious actions made by evil villains. It never did.

Unlike other kid's cartoons that have unmistaken villains that do evil out of malice, every single evil action in SU is just a treated as a mental health issue.

Whenever someone tries to kill someone or destroy a planet, or make others miserable with bigotry, They do it because they have emotional issues expressed destructively.

Steven is more of a therapist helping people with repressed emotions than a hero defeating villains. And his powers just exist to minimize the damage of their tantrums.

Evil in Steven Universe is considered a cry for help, not an attempt to hurt others for personal gain.

Say, Jasper seems like a typical villain at first glance. But Sugar has said, she just has self hatered issues.
Amethyst tortured Greg by shapeshifting in the image of his “dead wife” because she missed Rose Quartz.
Bismuth tried to kill Steven out of being abandoned and feeling betrayed and so on...

Again, it’s telling that the only truly evil people on this show, by its standards, have been two harmless humans featured in filler towny episodes.
