Legion of That One Guy takes Dobson to task over pigeonholing people as "erotic artist" and a few other things:

NO NO NO NO NO DOBSON (for the second time), that's NOT how this works. That's not how ANY of this works. The Kwami goes INTO the miraculous, and then the suit appears on the person, very rapidly, STARTING WITH THE MASK. That's nowhere near the Ring miraculous for Adrien, and cannot be said to be any part of "engulfing" process. This doesn't even actually work with Marinette and her earrings either, since her miraculous isn't even on her hand, yet she still does the motion with her hands to "put" her mask on similar to what Adrien does. In quick-transformation sequences (like in Miracle Queen and Chat Blanc), you don't even see any evidence of "engulfing". The suit just appears, poof, all at once.

Dobson tries to argue that it's the only way that "makes sense" as to how Tikki and Plagg lost their memories, because it "hit THEM" (as part of the suit). No, Dobson, you can't have it both ways. If it hit the suit, which was actually Tikki/Plagg, then HOW did Marinette and Adrien lose their memories, too? Shouldn't the suit have protected them, or if the suit was indeed Plagg/Tikki, WHY would it not JUST wipe Tikki/Plagg's memories? The most likely explanation is that the effect spread over the entire body (of the miraculous wearer) and hit the miraculous, too, and affected the Kwami within. (Some:epik: wanna point this out to Dobbles lol?). Adrien/Cat Noir was hit in his chest, not his head, and yet he lost his memory, so this means the magical energy of Oblivio was able to go through the suit and spread to affect the mind in the head from the chest onwards, so then it's a simple step from there to the energy going into the Miraculous and affecting Tikki and Plagg.

I'm likely wrong but what appears to be happening in the transformations is the Kwami goes into the Miraculous thus powering it on. Then the powered up Miraculous is what generates the suit and powers. The Kwami's aren't actually morphing into suits for the users. You'd think someone that likes magical girl anime would know how the transformation jewels work. As for why that memory ray took away Tikki and Plagg's memories as well. My best guess is that the ray also takes away the memories of whoever is touching the main target. So like one guy gets hit but his buddy/girlfriend is touching them so they get memory wiped as well.

You're pretty much correct, because as someone on Tumblr pointed out, if the Kwamis themselves were actually the suit, a photographed/video recorded Ladybug and Cat Noir would be either naked, or visibly identifiable as Marinette and Adrien in their usual clothes, as it's already been established that Kwamis can't be photographed or video recorded.

Now, YMMV (Your Mileage May Vary) and all that, but as a former sufferer of depression and former user of antidepressants, I have to say that is NOT universally true. It certainly wasn't true for me. I drew constantly, depressed or not, medicated or not. My depression was literally not affecting either my motivation or my inspiration. IDK, when it comes to lack of inspiration, maybe these kids are on the wrong meds, being on SSRI's instead of Tricyclics.

So, cats/animals in general dying on the set of Koneko Monogatari (released in the US as The Adventures of Milo and Otis) is 100% urban legend. It's bullshit they read elsewhere of "my uncle works at Nintendo" tier bullshit. No joke, the source(s) is a "my uncle/father/whoever works/lives in Japan and there was controversy at the time of release but I totally can't show you the original material because it's in Japanese!" post.

I have never been able to find the actual source to the claim, however I believe it came from a "behind the scenes" featurette someone uploaded to YouTube. It showed a pet crate with a bunch of adorable orange kittens in it and the explanation about how the director used many different animals based on their personality for whatever scenes they were filming that day. I think this, that they needed 40+ kittens (because of their personalities and ages) over the span of four years of filming mutated into 40+ kittens dying instead.

It's the same reason they went through dozens of baby pigs for the live action Charlotte's Web a few years back; they didn't kill the pigs, outside circumstances (in this case, the pigs grew up FAST, and adult pigs aren't cute enough for a kids movie).

To think the whole rumor about “oh they killed the cat” could only come from an imagination of some cucked manbaby in Europe or America.

It's pretty disappointing how many people believe it without even bothering to fact check it. And actually the rumor was first started all the way back in the 80's by Australians. Nobody could find actual proof for the claims though, and not from lack of trying. The only difference between then and now is that the number of dead kittens has doubled.

Somehow, these movements remind me a lot of Simon's Cat. I would not be surprised if it turns out to be a direct copy.
I thought it looked AWFULLY familar, at first I just assumed it was my bias that Dobson likes to trace and I put it down to maybe half remembering his previous sketch but now you mention the Simon‘s Cat animation it is quite similar:

For comparison:

There’s this weird janky-ness to Dobson’s animations that irked me.

I have never been able to find the actual source to the [koneko monogatari] claim,

I actually know this one but can’t dig up a source due to being on mobile data: It was a very old article on one of the Gawker sites, I want to say Kotaku but I’m not sure. I remember it from the very earliest days of forums shitting on Gawker for not doing their research properly.

Well, The director of the movie is I think biggest animal expert in Japan who has his own Island where he's carring animals of many species and maybe he once think "I can make a movie out of this! " so I like to think that we know what he was doing.

Legion of That One Guy (well a different one anyway) points out Dobson's an idiot about the Kwamis "becoming" the suits in Miraculous Ladybug:

Dobson gets a weird ingsoc reply to his "wamen through history in geekery" comic:
1583699845110.png

"If people aren't blatantly, prancingly mincingly, lispingly gay, nobody will notice, and they NEED to notice! Sexual orientation is a MAJOR part of a person's character!"
(spoiler alert: NO, it ISN'T)
1583700028448.png

NO DOBSON YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG. That's NOT how character works. Sexual orientation does not work like that. People's personalities are not at all dependent upon their orientations. It literally makes NO difference, other than the person likes to bang people of the same sex. It contributes NOTHING ELSE. Being gay does NOT make a person more or less outgoing, trusting, trustworthy, calm, angry, happy, sad, cowardly, reclusive, good, bad, stingy, generous, moral, amoral (though some would argue it DOES make a person less moral, but whatever, I don't think that's what Dobson quite had in mind).

Also, that's NOT how "empowering" works. Nobody picks a male character in order to beat people over the head with "HURR DURR IMA STRAYT WHYT MAYUL, FAWN OVER ME. MARVEL OVER MY WASHBOARD ABS." Dobson misses the point entirely about picking a character's gender. It's almost as if, to him, one picks a wamen or a minority to showcase prejudice against said minority, so that "something about the story would change" over it being a straight white male. Or the gays need to be visibly making out, (for dob to fap to, at least the lesbuns anyway) for anyone to notice.

Any idiot will NOTICE that Sarah Connor is a woman. We didn't need to see her get discriminated against or whatever to have that perfectly clear. She does bang the guy that comes through the time portal to stop Ahnold Terminator, and thus gives birth to a future leader of the Resistance. WHICH IS THE WHOLE POINT OF HER BEING A WOMAN. It's a major plot point. It makes me wonder whether Dobson actually SAW Terminator (the first one). NOTHING about the story would change, Dobson? REALLY? Spoiler alert: A male Sarah Connor couldn't have ass babies with Kyle Reese, you exceptional individual. Just another blatant example of Dobson being too exceptional to understand story structure and storytelling. But what do you expect when he's tracing his opinions from his woke IngSoc IdPol Justice Senpais?
