Post your favourite video game music tracks here

There you are, alone in the dark. But don't be scared. We want to be friends.

Songs that are basically early 2000's eurotrance:

I didn't know Yuzo Koshiro was behind WMMT's soundtracks, they're great
Armored Core has some real gems. I prefer the old gens (ps1/2 era) for gameplay, but 4 and For Answer had some great music. Old gen was catchy in that kinda crusty japanese sci-fi style of the 90s/early 00's, and 4/FA had some nice orchestral and desert punk offerings.

I love 3 and 4/FA's soundtracks. I miss AC.

Pretend I’m replying to OP here, the button isn’t showing up for some reason.
How do so many garbage movies and games manage to nail the soundtrack?

Because someone with influence who doesn't know what the fuck they're doing is more likely to mess with the movie or game to make their mark on it, leaving the competent musicians to do their thing unabated.

Also making music can have less moving parts so to speak compared to movies or games. Like one guy can make a kickass soundtrack. Games and movies usually have a more sizeable team with a more involved process which makes for more steps to mess up along the way

This song was the most intimidating thing ever when I was five. Today, I consider it to be the final boss music of video games.

Sonic CD is among the games I consider to be one of the best soundtracks in gaming history, regardless of regional soundtrack. The Past theme of Stardust Speedway stands out to me in particular. That piano...

Moving away from my special brand of autism, I could mention the entire soundtrack to Oregon Trail II, but if there's one song that gets me in the mood to die horribly in the American Mid-West, it's this one.

And while I'm on the subject of "West," I'll add on another game whose entire soundtrack kicks major ass. Those of you who read my post in the "First FPS you played" thread will know which game I'm talking about. While I highly recommend checking out the entire soundtrack, there's one song in particular that always gives me goosebumps whenever I play it.
For those who haven't played it, Anna is the name of the main character's wife, who was murdered by a couple of hired thugs, sent by some rich douchebag who wants to build a railroad through your farmland.

Another game whose soundtrack is very special to me. I swear, with every successive title, the soundtrack got increasingly soulless. But The Sims 1? The music just oozed personality. Special mention goes to those Build Mode themes.
I love the soundtrack to this game so much, I had to import it into The Sims 2. You don't get amazing shit like this in mainstream games these days.

Super Robot Wars always has a great soundtrack, but these three tracks are probably my favourite video game songs of all time.

Been on a bit of a Silent Hill kick recently. I forgot how wonderful those soundtracks were, especially during the more emotional moments.

The proper term for this track should be "Neckbreaker Ballet"

Goddamn, I'm not even sure what to address first. Big Arms is probably the best track from the genesis era Sonics, and they had a pretty high fucking bar.

As for Oregon Trail, I swear I started hearing that song in my head before I hit play, goddamn that was a chunk of my childhood. I'm going to be whistling it the rest of my shift, I swear.

Outlaws... Didn't get the credit it deserved. Nor did the Jedi engine it ran on, honestly. Lucasarts used to be just so good.
