Coronavirus has reached central Finland. Juha Paloneva, Chief Medical Officer of the Central Finland Hospital District, confirms that three people have been diagnosed with coronavirus on Monday. According to Paloneva, all infected people are in good condition and are in home care. One of the infected had been traveling in Italy, two others had been infected in Finland and had been dealing with a person infected with the coronavirus. Paloneva says that in central Finland, few expose individuals have been ordered in quarantine.

I think that makes 33 infected in Finland so far.

Dunno if it's been reported, but whatever. Latest news from Italy: prison riots! Inmates are rioting over being denied family visits due to virus concerns.
In Foggia some 50-60 inmates actually managed break out and escape!

At this point you evacuate the guards and any prisoners you can get your hands on, and then surround the facility with an air tight army cordon backed with police surveillance.

They want to be faggots and riot? Let them. Then they can eat each other when they run out of food in a couple of days.

You assume we can manage that. "Air tight army" dude, our army hasn't been air tight even during the world wars, c'mon.

I once ordered a pizza from a new place that opened up. Whoever prepped the pizza pretty much put pepperoni like the corona-tracker map.

Every country in Europe, including the small principalities, has at least one case. Even lil' Andorra. San Marino has 36 cases.
I think Turkey has to be lying about not having any cases. Possibly linked to: https://www.dailysabah.com/turkey/turkish-cyber-police-to-curb-fake-news-on-coronavirus/news

With an alarming amount of disinformation about the new coronavirus circulating on social media, Turkish police have decided to start investigating people spreading hoaxes or fake news about the deadly COVID-19, authorities said Saturday.

According to the General Directorate of Security, officers will peruse social media platforms on the lookout for false information that could induce panic among citizens and stop it before it catches on. Social media platforms will then be contacted about the removal of such posts, with repeat offenders facing charges.
Since the outbreak began, citizens across dozens of cities have been whipped up into a panic due to a number of hoaxes taking hold via social media which claim that the deadly virus has made its way to Turkey. With each new claim, authorities have conducted tests – with none having proved positive for the coronavirus. Such results, however, have proved ineffective at tempering renewed concerns amid subsequent rumors.
The cyber unit will also seek to curb any misleading information or potentially harmful health tips, too. Hundreds of social media posts are already being shared that include dangerous, even fatal "tips," supposedly ideas to fight or prevent the onset of the virus, from gargling with bleach to drinking silver.
With misleading posts distorting the extent of symptoms of the virus and peddling "miracle" cures, the Health Ministry has repeatedly urged citizens to pay attention and follow the advice of authorities or established global institutions such as the World Health Organization (WHO).

To help stop the spread of disinformation, Twitter announced on Wednesday it would stop any attempts by advertisers to use the coronavirus outbreak to send inappropriate advertisements to its users and that only government entities seeking to spread public health information would be allowed to promote coronavirus-related ads.
Earlier on Tuesday, Facebook said it will provide free advertisements to the WHO to ensure that users were not misinformed about the virus.
Last month, Facebook said it would ban advertisements for products offering any cure or prevention for the coronavirus and any such commercial endeavors that seek to create a sense of panic or urgency
.

The rest of the -stans likely have them and are just unable to know if they do. Or in places like Turkmenistan, it's way out among the horsemen who don't go into the cities. Any city-dwellers would probably get the bullet and buried somewhere. Or maybe the descendents of the Horse Lords have better immune systems!

Not just Russia, Oil Prices this low will cause Saudia Arabia to absolutely collapse if it goes on for too long.
Super doubtful, the House of Saud has been collecting oil cash(and not spending most of it) for decades.

Forget me if I sound way saltier than usual but there's been a... fuck it one of my loved ones died in front of me. 100% unrelated to corona.

Condolences to you and your family, take a mental health break, reach out to a grief counselor.
Some things just need processing time.

Don't forget Turkey is more interested in killing Haftar and they're not really concerned about some bat virus.

Just as the roach isn’t affected by the shit it eats and lives in, so the Turk is not concerned by the disease he carries and happily spreads to others

check under your fridge, there you will find a family of Turks scurrying around.

Holy shit, the army is actually rolling out in Foggia.

Literally three tweets below it says and proves that the army is in Palermo for a drill. I hope they'll roll in the army anyway, these fuckers need to settle down, they're the last thing we fucking need. Cunts every single one of them.

On one hand I'm glad, on the other... feels we kinda need the army. Eh. But yeah, feels like mass panic is gonna do more damage than the virus right now.

Joke of the Day: How many flies does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Two, but beats me how they got in there.
I got one for you:
How many Californians does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Silly! Californians don't screw in lightbulbs, they screw in hot tubs.

Thanks Johnny!

Sorry for you loss, Emu.

And we're off for another exciting day as the markets merrily plunge...take care everybody!

Forget me if I sound way saltier than usual but there's been a... fuck it one of my loved ones died in front of me. 100% unrelated to corona. I doubt I should post today but I am thinking of posting a rant with my thoughts on emergency services. But... Honestly I shouldn't. Right now I don't think I remember how to function I should not be posting. But I do think I should express my thoughts on the matter... part of me thinks this is a cry for help. I really just can't remember how to live right now.
My condolences. Know that my thoughts are with you and all other Kiwis affected by the loss of a loved one.

Hate to think you are the first post of this category. I suspect about 2% of us will be saying something similar in the coming months.

A lot of factories in China that are even tangentially related to sewing or textiles have retooled very quickly and are making masks now. Mostly surgical masks, some n95 equivalents. Seriously, go on Alibaba and see how many general home goods factories are pumping these things out now. If the world really wants to divest from China, we'll have to compete with how damn fast their factories pivot to producing the next big thing. I'm having a hard time thinking that the dye sublimated t shirt shop down the street would drop fucking everything to sew surgical masks in a matter of weeks.
Yeah, if you have a central economy, you can do these kinds of things. Good short term solution.

But it's not very efficient. The people sewing those masks are not trained, the market for these products will recede, there's no guarantee the original market will come back. How much certainty is there these masks will actually work? The CCP is not known for quality assurance and the factory personnel sure as shit won't have any.

During WWI, factories throughout North America were taken over and converted to war production. Almost immediately after Germany surrendered, they were handed back over to their owners. This didn't have much to do with private ownership, it had to do with the loss of productivity. Centralized economies operate on quotas, not supply and demand, there's huge incentives not to overproduce or underproduce in favor of meeting your numbers. The War Department determined administering such an operation during peacetime would fail, as we saw evidence of in the Soviet Union.

Holy crap at the world markets being halted within minutes of opening this morning.

The virus scare was already making the market shaky, but the Russian/Saudi shitshow is going for the jugular.
Right now, the US is where China was in early February.

There's going to be a period of panic as people look for safe havens, followed by a period where people see some really good deals after the market bottoms out. The same thing is happening in Asian markets, political turmoil in Saudi Arabia and their beef with Russia over oil prices isn't helping. Mersck is reporting 50% reduction in exports from China - 80% of their hard goods being shipped overseas go out on boats. This means there's an excess of crude, it should result in at least one US energy company going under.

10 year bonds have been volatile for some time, I'm really not sure where to find a safe haven. Some doomsday economists are saying the DOW will drop to 20k by mid-April. There's good reasons for why that could happen. Try and remember, there's an upside to losses - keep some capital sitting around and seek profit when the market comes back. Right now, all I see is discounts on stocks I'd like to own, and I know they will get better before long.

Thank goodness for Global Warming. I was at the park over the weekend, it's unseasonably warm where I live. The flu recedes in the summer and comes back in the winter, the warmth of the sun is reassuring. Who wouldn't take a couple inch rise in sea levels over suffocating in an emergency room because there aren't enough respirators? Conora virus has raised my awareness of the ways I don't want to die.

@Null, we need the hazmat suits back on the avatars.

According to a doctor I was talking to yesterday, the situation in Spain is getting worse by the minute. He said Spain is right now just as Italy was ten days ago. It's clear that most Western goverments have understimated this outbreak, just look what's happening now.

He is working in Madrid btw
And to think I was optimistic the outbreak can be contained.

Should've known stupidity and the love for shekels made it much harder.
