Dramacow Coraline Ada Ehmke / Corey Dale Ehmke - tl;dr Rules for thee but not for me

Trying to get caught up on all my threads but figured I'd dump some archives of his current nonsense for others to check out.

Looks like he has a new draft of his ethical open source shit. It doesn't look like much but I cannot wait until there's a lawsuit involving this shit, it's complete applesauce and will fall apart under the most basic scrutiny. Any project that adopts these standards will be commercially inviable.

It looks like he has done two things with this:

Like the OSI has done with 'Open Source', he's defined a category of software called 'Ethical Open Source'. In this case, his definition is inclusive of any open source software which additionally meets the criteria he laid out. This is a broader scope than what was originally presented. Previously, he was looking for projects to wholesale adopt the license he was pushing -- which could present a major barrier on projects with a lot of contributors which already have a license with contradictory terms. What this will let him do is push the Ethical | Open badge on a lot of existing projects that he deems are meeting the criteria. He could probably do it in a pretty innocuous and congratulatory seeming way where he reaches out to big projects who have maintainers who have been sympathetic in the past and bent the knee to his CoC. He can go in and offer them the endorsement of this organization by badging/branding them EOS status and then use any prominent projects who take him up or don't object as examples of people who are part of his 'movement'. Now, imagine a big project that unwittingly accepts the EOS moniker. Then, down the road, someone says something Cory doesn't like. Much like with the OpalGate stuff, he could create a schism in the project by threatening to 'pull' the EOS status of the project based on some arbitrary interpretation of very broad principles in the EOS definition. In this case, the perception will be that he's not doing it as just some crazy troon but rather the head of a seemingly credible -- to outsiders at least -- looking organization. It would be a toothless and meaningless gesture in practical terms, but it's something that could generate a lot of drama, outrage, division and press around the matter which is the kind of thing Cory likes to jerk it to.

Secondly, he's defined ELOS (Ethically Licensed Open Source) as software licensed under his and similar restrictive 'ethical' licenses. This is a more 'pure' type of 'ethical software' and I doubt it will see much in the way of practical adoption by any major projects.

Ultimately, and obviously, what's going on here is that Cory is trying to get away from the the day-to-day grind of his software engineer job and 'transition' into being the director of his own grievance based non-profit where he can rake in donations, be in a position of authority, and be in a spot where no one really expects any kind of meaningful results or accountability. It's a pretty good grift if he can pull it off. In order to do this though he needs to create some kind of original sin that everyone is guilty of so that he can sell them on the cure on his own terms.

Here it is from the horses sluring drug-addled mouth on his podcast:

Agreed, though it might not just be a tribal pissing contest this time. Even the kill Nazis crowd has started bellyaching about imitation Lovelace, which almost makes me think a lot of her people problems aren't from rampant transphobia in bay area tech companies.

Honestly, I'd kind of like for this thing to infect a few diseased projects. After all, nothing wrong with a polite request for voluntary support, right?

Imagine being politically or financially hamstrung enough that you aren't able to reply "Officially calling on @CoralineAda to go fuck himself."

What fucking arrogance. People like this can only exist in modern times because we've been collectively conditioned not to beat the shit out of them for being so obnoxious.

The decline in the social acceptability of shaming and mocking narcissists has been a disaster for the human race.

Corey called himself toxic at one point, and he's really showing that through.

He should be shamed until being shunned. Fitting for a narcissistic control freak such as Corey.

What to do if you were not elected?

The fact that this fake woman managed to get 82 votes is concerning, but it's more hilarious that he lost to a man and a woman. Here's hoping he gets btfo'd.
That's unlimited options voting, unclear how many voters in total, but probably between 250 and 350.
I bet there are dozens of seething wokesters! Dozens!
