I think that it's just that we have all these [man?]-children who can't think of anything outside of bits of media they've been raised on or subsist on, in this case vidya, in others comics, whatever cavalcade of autism turns out being, there's politics, just like there is out there in the real world, but way more refined and autistic. Total spergs, mostly on the left, just can't think of anything political now without reference to Gamergate though because it touches those comfy bits of the brain.

Games "journalists" are literally the only people who talk about it at all unless it's talking about games journalists still chimping out about it.

Nobody is really much of a detective or hacker on here unless they feel motivated, like if you're some pedophile a la Nick Bates where people feel some kind of moral obligation to dig into you. Nearly everything ever posted in a thread is information the thread's person of interest has willfully posted online at some point. Sometimes it leaves a bread trail to other information, but it's still only what you've ever posted online.

The explanation I like to use is that anybody can find the information present in these threads. We just let them skip the leg work.
