1. Drink a shit ton of fluids drown yourself in water to flush your system
2. Take anti-inflamatory meds - advil, alleeve, etc. Alka-seltzer cold and flu is fucking great
3. Take anti-congestion meds - mucinex DM will make you cough up crud like no ones business but as a nurse has reminded me "Better out than in". Also sudafed will let you breathe through your nose.
4. Sit up, don't lie down, you can literally drown in your own mucus.
5. Walk around. I know this is counter productive but it'll get your blood flowing, breathing in air that's 'clean' and not recycled. And you'll start hacking shit up which is good.

I went in for a 'respitory infection' to which they gave me steroids and these lil pills that helped my cough. I sound like I smoked a carton of marlboro reds as my throat is raw from coughing but I'm feeling much better.

You can only treat the symptoms, there is no cure for the flu. Whomever can cure the flu will make ungodly billions...if it's ever released.

On sudafed, make sure you get the real sudafed, not the Sudafed PE. The PE stands for Placebo Effect.

fuck this thread moves way to fast now, it's been less than a day since my last comment and it's already 30 pages back.

went to the pharmacy today to buy some extra supplies and all hand sanitizers and masks were already long gone, good thing i made sure to prep more than a month back.

Wonder if anyone brought this up yet:

Mexico has a bigger virus, it's called Mexicans, characterised by being useless, jumping over walls, and general laziness.

Guys, guys,
I feel like some of you are getting a bit carried away with doomposting. A friendly reminder that anxiety can play tricks on your mind, make sure to assess situation based on the objective facts. The virus is bad but stop treating it like a world ending zombie plague, seriously. Get some supplies, limit contact with other people whenever possible, work from home when you can, but don't go full out re:tard. Remember, panic is contagious and might cause just as much if not more damage than any virus. Keep safe and stay calm, my dear Kiwis.

Fuck you I want to be a Warlord hoarding old world goods.

I texted my Dad a picture of the mayhem at Trader Joe's and the dude says he's sending me an emergency food package that will last a month at least.

I was like "Nigga what?"

My Dad is a prepper. What am I supposed to do with this information?

If you are reading this, Dad. I love you, you crazy sonuvabitch.

Wonder what he'll say this time?

What part of his initial address is left? Seems like he is going down the list.

Also, :optimistic: Please ban travel to California and Washington.

Check it out.

EDIT: late. Oops.

The general feeling on Wall Street is that he wasn't forceful enough in the original speech, so expect a ramp up.

Just tried a Costco run here for a desk I've been wanting. LOL NO. The checkout lines looked literally an hour long.

My (midwest tech company) office also is closing for a month. I'm already set up for WFH so this is good.

Travis AFB update

The hospital is preparing to go into 24-hour operations.

Normally, most of the hospital is like a Mall of America of clinics, having tons of non-emergency departments and facilities that operate during normal weekday office hours. Even some of the IT airmen have those types of hours, with one at a time being on-call for things that can't wait until the next morning or Monday, which isn't often. The ER and ICU are among very few areas that operate outside of this.

24-hour operations means that a lot of airmen (including IT) are about to be put onto 12-hour shifts with their roles being performed and available in-person 24/7. Upcoming leave that was previously approved is also going to be cancelled.

The hospital staff are still being told not to wear masks, no matter who's getting put at risk and they're still behaving very strangely about it. It's getting harder for them to keep people ignorant from the fact that they don't have enough PPE and they've resorted to ordering airmen to not even use their own personally purchased masks so they can keep up the lie that masks spread the virus. They're barely even trying to lie about it to the point that they sound like the lazy, unreasonable parent who tells their child "because I said so".

The American system is probably the least prepared out of all of the western countries. The insurance bureaucracy and high cost of going to the doctor + the lack of safety nets means people will work when sick because they have to and not go to the doctor.

I can see the coronavirus forcing a shift in the view on healthcare. Eisenhour's ww2 experience was the basis for his belief in investing in infrastructure and Teddy had the panama canal built based on Mahan's naval theories.

Public healthcare reduces the costs and gets more people to go to the doctor.

And that Rogan video supports this idea.

Shutting down the schools and daycares means losing half of your nurses. Turns out that having systems in place to support families has geopolitical benefits.

Social welfare needs to become thought of as part of the grand strategy of the empire. Key medical facilities should be moved inland like B-52 bomber factories.
