On top of that I'm pretty sure that the EU is desperate enough to try anything on their power to stop another Brexit.

What power?

The inability to stop Brexit shows they don't have any.

And that was before they ran out of other people's money that's causing the current budget woes.

Brexit HAD to fail, it was Code Red, all stops out, unlimited rules of engagement, if the UK left, it would create a hole in EU finances that could only be resolved by either hiking taxes/tariffs or ending subsidies, either of which will cause the next-worse-off member to quit and the cycle continues.... the EU could not survive any ONE member leaving, and ultimately, you see what the "power" they had got them.... they couldn't stop it, only delay it for about 2 years..... and all the time, the backlash got worse as leftist establishment EU-backers were dumped from office for foot-dragging, leaving them weaker than had they just said "fine" and then fucked with the post-exit trade negotiations, now they can't even do that.

Reactions: the fall of man
This almost certainly deserves a huge late rating, but I was recently looking up a certain character from Isaac Asimov's Foundation series, and lo and behold guess who this character reminds people of:

Vintage TDS from 2016 and 2017. Enjoy!

Oh, and Krugman's article on the subject of Foundation is probably worth a read. He basically guest stars in those articles.
"The problem, you see, isn’t how to defeat the Mule and ensure the triumph of truth, justice, and the Foundation way. It is, instead, to get the Plan back on track – and that requires making sure that nobody understands the Plan!"
Yes. Very subtle.

Did they even read the books? The Mule is more like a Napoleon or Chavez - someone was destroys the current order for a period of temporary peace and prosperity. But when that person is gone the whole structure collapses and things are much worse than before.

We live in a free country and Stephen King can bitch about how white male Boomers shouldn't be leaders all he wants to, but if The Squad are anything to go by, then Millennial women of color are ten times worse at it in every way.

He really should just stick to writing horror novels and maybe start doing drugs again so his books might finally be enjoyable again.
