I love Bob's ability to compare the two most radically different things to each other. All in an attempt to make the most minor and harmless thing sound horrible.

In one hand you have the story of mentally ill man who got himself killed because he wanted to live among dangerous animals in the wild. In the other hand you have somebody saying that they don't hate talking to people who have different political opinions than theirs.

Honestly, having been BAFFLED by this at one point myself; it all became *depressingly* clear when I realized that (ironically, given that these are generally people who INSIST that they're "materialists") it's mostly about aesthetics. They prefer the *aesthetics* of the Right.

I mean, I don't follow much hollywood actors and trends and such, but before this capeshit stuff, Brie Larson was just a regular actress, a rising star for sure, with the Oscar from the movie "Room", but people remembered her more for being in the Scott Pilgrim (which is kinda shitty to her, because Scott Pilgrim sucks).

But she never had any need of this political public image she took to be seen. Even when she was acting on Captain marvel, it looked liked she didn't want to be there, and it made sense, she is a indie darling with directorial aspirations making autistic capeshit because thats where the real money is, so whatever, who gives a shit anyway?

But then, she took this weird turn, and now she uber feminist woke woman... when before this whole captain marvel stuff, she wasn't very political at all. Sure, she was as hollywood liberal as they come, but she never had any need for this image.

Tessa Thompson had to embrace the image of lesbian space queen slay that the Roberts of the world workship, but that's because she is 36 and this is probably her last shot at big movie stardom, because before Thor, she was in big movies in big forgetable roles (I forgot she was the girlfriend in the creed movies), or bombs like the new Man In Black.

My point is, I don't see why Brie Larson is even pandering to this bullshit when she doesn't need it at all. Gal gadot isn't an idiot, and she knows that once her Wonder Woman gig is gone, she is just gonna get some small support roles or a second rate TV show, because she is aware that she is on the stage for looks, not act. But even so, Gadot only brings up the woman empowerment spiel when asked to, otherwise she is happy to stick to the generic promotional lines... and it works for her, Gadot is charming and is just trying to sell a silly capeshit movie.

Robert wants his trophy for cheerleading, and if you tell him no because his cheer routine is gross and awful, you're now part of the enemy team (because there are only ever really two teams). This is what he means by the future he EARNED. He earned it by sucking up and whether he accomplished anything tangible and favorable with his sucking up doesn't matter. He joined the correct team (whether they wanted him or not) and when they win he gets to share in the winnings. That's how the world works, dammit!

This is also why he freaks out so much when his team suffers an unexpected loss, like with Trump getting elected. Not because he's sincerely worried about minorities literally dying, like so many TDS sufferers, but because it denies him his reward for playing for the winning team. As has been noted many times before, Robert's ideology is extremely self serving, wrapped in a very thin veneer of caring and moral superiority, and the more you analyze it, the more sociopathic it looks.
