Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

Here's something I didn't mention earlier. Minnesota's closing it's schools for 8 days, but it's allowing the children of hospital workers and nurses to attend school.

I'm guessing they figure the kids are going to be exposed anyway and it's better to have them in school than have them babysat by grandparents.

Updates from NYC:

1) From Mayor De Blasio: “Tomorrow, I will sign an Executive Order limiting restaurants, bars and cafes to food take-out and delivery. Nightclubs, movie theaters, small theater houses, and concert venues must all close. The order will go into effect Tuesday, March 17 at 9:00 AM" https://twitter.com/GilmaAvalos/status/1239371527856013316

2) Effective Monday, March 16 at 5PM, all eviction proceedings and pending eviction orders shall be suspended statewide until further notice. https://twitter.com/LegalAidNYC/status/1239282832209477635

Northern California - not fake faggot bay area north, wild west gun toting pot growing meth smoking north.

A couple of my coworkers with spouses working in the local school districts reported that all school boards held emergency meetings today, and all districts except for district "A" voted to cancel school until late April.

Four hours after voting to stay open, a friend of mine with a child who attends district A received a call that school is cancelled. Can't help wondering what they might have learned that changed the board's mind so quickly.

Quebec - the follow is now closed:
  • Bars and clubs
  • Move theatres
  • Gyms and yoga, dance and spinning classes
  • Spa and saunas
  • ski hills, amusement parks, water parks, arcades, zoos and aquariums
Restaurants can only operate at 50% capacity. Non-urgent dental appointments are postponed. Anybody over 70 is asked to stay home, and the Premier said that "you should only go out to work, buy bread, go to the pharmacy, get treatments, take a walk or help people 70 years and older."

There are 39 new cases, up from 24 yesterday.

Sister messaged me, telling me that tomorrow morning at 8am CST Memphis Zoo will announce that they will be running in a reduced capacity. This means that all activities are canceled - giraffe/stingray feedings, tram rides, carousel rides, camel rides, reserved events, and the like.

They don't know how long it will be, but they have estimated at least for 2 weeks.

I will most likely make another post with the link if she sends me one tomorrow.

All bars, restaurants, and recreation facilities in Washington closed effective tomorrow, except for King County where the lockdown is effective immediately.

Gatherings over 50 people prohibited and gatherings under 50 people prohibited unless public health guidelines are followed.

Details about compulsory 2 week quarantine for all people arriving from overseas in New Zealand can be found here. Pretty intense. There is also an excerpt from the Health Act about quarantine regulations and details about Air New Zealand being at skeleton crew levels just to get people home until June.

Nova Scotia was the last Canadian province without cases, but they announced 3 presumptive positive cases yesterday. (All unrelated, each from a different source of travel.)

Schools and daycares are being closed, libraries and recreation centers closed, public servants who can work from home are being asked to do so. Gyms are closed. Long term care homes closed to public, limited visitors at hospitals.

Hungary closes borders and cinemas and any gatherings. Non food/medicine stores can only be open until 15:00.

After much exceptional indecision and delays, Malaysia finally announced a full "lockdown" as well. (Restricted movement is the term used here).

About time too. Took only being the SEA country with spiking cases to trigger this.
