Update on a local Scandinavian toilet paper situation: I went to the supermarket and in the parking lot I met a man in his 50's carrying a bushel of toilet paper, no bags or anything, just bear hugging his catch.

I don't care about me getting it or not personally. I give no shits about whatever colds and flus, they're just stuck in the background noise of regular allergies. Hopefully as more famous people are fine people might notice it's just a damn cold.

I can see this point of view if you live in isolation and go into town for food once a month but seeing as 99% (of Americans at least) don't live this way, this is exceptional. "I just wanna get it over with so I can go back to doing what I want" works great if you never come in contact with people, and it takes honest, serious thought to consider how many people you may interact with in a three-week period, especially considering the evidence that it can be spread before symptoms manifest.

There are now 72 cases (up from 48 yesterday) in Wisconsin. Schools have been closed indefinitely, and Evers is petitioning the legislature so that the one-week waiting period for unemployment can be waived. Bars and restaurants are closed, unless they can facilitate drive-through and curbside assistance.

Good point but you actually nailed my situation - I don't live with family and a lot of people self-isolating right now anyway. So if I did get it I could mostly stay at home and get it over with and after that I - presumably - wouldn't be a likely transmitter of it. Whereas before you've had it you never know if you might be.

The things people choose to panic buy are a real head-scratcher.
People have cleared the shelves of sliced bread and flour, but left those "bake at home" pre-made rolls behind. There's no canned tomatoes anywhere, but you can get huge bags of regular ol' greenhouse tomatoes, and if you're worried about them spoiling before you eat them, it's easy to cook them into a tomato sauce and freeze it. I got my regular week's groceries with a minimal amount of weird substitution needed.

My company is fucked on the IT side.
I already work remotely and only need to dial in to the office in the morning and at the end of the day to get/send my work orders. My laptop and Fortinet has been working for years. I use a cellphone not a voip deskphone. I only went to the office to get equipment and parts.
They decided all the back office people and sales team need to work from home. 30 or 40 people. All the applications are hosted on the mainframe in the building. The email server and sip PBX is there also.
They have a 100M link to the internet with a T1 fallback

Went to Ikea to return a couple of wrong-sized sheets. They were constantly cleaning every serface at the tills and customer service desks. Nobody had cleared out the knäckebröd, so I grabbed a few rounds. That stuff lasts for ages. Always good to have in.
Popped into Aldi on the way back to see if I could find some tomato puree. There was none. Entire shelf gone. All the canned goods gone, except for the canned fish. Dry goods gone, TP and related gone, feminine products all gone, but cleaning products were left alone. Eggs gone, but not the milk. The ready-mix baking goods are all left, but there was no bread. Surprisingly, the spice aisle was also picked clean, so at least one person put some thought into their locust-like behaviour. Bought myself a couple of bottles of their "premier" champagne for the weekend. I might go back in a few days and grab some of their cheap gin. Lots of uses for cheap gin.
Or maybe I'll just lock down for the rest of the month... work on the garden a bit.
