Got some email from HQ last week. It was just copy paste of their procedures for their building with an oh-so-helpful note at the end for drivers to avoid loading delivering if sick. Gee thanks. I'll remember that while I self quarantine in the sleeper birth for ten days or whatever 2000 miles from home.
That got me to thinking. That shit ain't happening across the industry. So i've stepped up hand washing at truckstops and avoided staying there. Lonely gravel turnouts and hungry man dinners until I get home... in three weeks. Awesome.

Thanks a lot for doing your job. Even if people don't notice, y'all are keeping the west from anarchy a lot of the time. You can preend you're a long-haul spacer making runs through the void. Treat the suit like it's your space outfit and only leave the airlock for decon and material acquisition.

I'm not so much afraid of the sickness itself, I'm worried about the knock-on effects that can occur when the niceities of society stop flowing. Some people are only kept from being savagely inhuman by drugs, alcohol, and brazilian fart porn. Taking away two of those is spooky. Has anyone looked into what happens when the opioids dry up? I always thought the zombie craze was built around that.

Albeit, most colleges are overpriced, but canceling student loans right now would just ruin the banks.

that's not what would happen, the banks would just be bailed out for the equivalent debt accumulated by students, just like freddie mac and fannie may.

People should fight hard to regain their rights after this, and i'm not only saying that for europe but the U.S. too, they are trying to fuck all of you too with packages into law like EARN IT recently, wanting to end encryption and government to have access to all your shit online, China style, nobody should take this as an excuse for them to extend the patriot act or any other bullshit into this dystopian tyranny and extend it further when the dust of that outbreak settles, it's easy to cede liberties for a temporary crisis, but it should ONLY be temporary, your pairs are trying to pass unconstitutional and inhumane bullshit in congress as everyone is worried about their survival, this is beyond predatory.

Things are so weirdly normal here even though we have more than 20 cases AND community spread. People are cheerful and friendly. Kids are up and about playing in the street during the day. The supermarket doesn't have any TP but it still has plenty of meat and dairy. I went for a drive for the first time in days to see how apocalyptic the area was and it was so normal and serene. Most everyone has stayed home but society goes on.

I hear the big chain stores, wallmarts, costco's etc are all still a shitshow in the cities near me.

I don't need anything but a few elderly I know do need some basic staples and dogfood.
I stopped in my local IGA and that had a lot of stuff back in stock. M1lk, eggs, cheese, meat all from new england farms. Limited selection on the canned and dry goods but at least all they had the major stuff back in store. Stock of 1 brand each of fruits and vegetables. I was able to get everything on my lists there. No TP or iso alcohol.

Later on in the day I drove through a small town General Store. Its in BFN along a small state highway and the Appalachian Trail. 100 year old building with creaky wood floors and a big front porch. They stock mostly local producers and small family farms. Got some fresh ground beef and a few steaks for the freezer.

Globalization was a mistake.

You seem real mad about the concept of government being used to stop millions of people dying.

Why aren't you mad about what already exists- the existing, unconstitutional laws like the 'PATRIOT Act'?

It seems like turning the clock back on those, rather than measures to protect life, would be a higher priority for someone interested in freedom of speech. Why should anyone involved in the passage of the Patriot Act be walking around free, rather than being tortured and executed like those who were subjected to the Nuremberg Trials?

I'm not sure about the bigger cities but even where I am I'm seeing a difference in the community. There's less people driving and traffic has gone down a lot. The streets aren't backed up anymore, it's quieter and I'm seeing less people out walking. People in my area seem to be taking the advice and staying inside.
Stores still have people going in and out but I'm definitely seeing less outdoor activity.
A few stores are also going to make earlier hours for elderly customers to come in and get their supplies, and only elderly customers. That's good.
