Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

Don't tell me every single fucking person that got infected or knows anybody who is infected will be shitting in this thread to make sure the entire farms knows that they or their sister's uncle is infected, it's already virtually impossible to follow. If you are infected - post a link to your suicide livestream or GTFO.
As funny as that is, and as annoying as constant anecdotes are, I still came here to say my roommate came home from work early because she felt really sick and short of breath. Went to the doctor who said she has a fever, who then tested her for the regular flu and the test came back negative. He diagnosed her with regular flu, gave her a tamiflu prescription, and said to go to a specific hospital if her breathing thing gets worse. Her boss is now wearing a N95 mask + goggles and sanitizing their store just in case.

She has a deep dry cough now but she doesn't seem to be as short of breath.
I'm thinking neither of us are going to be leaving for a few weeks. Unless it's related to hospitals. Hopefully not.

There's just something darkly amusing about the fact that a tiny, beyond microscopic organism (arguably not even that much, more like an infectious entity, viruses are strange) is single-handedly overturning the entire world order as we know it. For all our advances in science, knowledge and technology, all it took was a single, random piece of what's basically an organic hacking malware to fuck everything over for who knows how long.
Honestly though, we were due for some world changing event. Whether by war or by plague, something was bound to happen. Our reliance on China was bound to backfire. On the bright side, hopefully the virus will bring some good changes along with it.

I hope it does. But we all know it'll end up back to the way it was before the virus before long.

The people that matter can see the writing on the wall. Notice how China is flipping shit the past week and a half trying to blame everyone for all of their problems. Notice how every other nation is talking about reevaluating their stance on a wide variety of issues from manufacturing to tourism to food production. Notice how Donald Trump is pushing for UBI and working with Andrew Yang's team while Nancy Pelosi is against it and her acolytes are cancelling a guy they liked four days ago.

The genie isn't going back into the bottle.

That's what I'm choosing to believe in and hope for. Dwelling on what could get worse has been doing nothing but giving me constant stress, so I'm going to try and be optimistic, if for nothing else than to keep that ever-present fear and anxiety at bay and not give in to the doomer despair mindset, because I've been down that path before and it nearly tore me apart. I know things are only going to get shittier from here as far as can be surmised, but I'm still going to go off the hope that things will eventually get better.

Here is a short list of things I would like to change and will hopefully change:

1. People stop worshiping celebrities.
2. People realize what they really need vs what they just want.*
3. Hollywood goes completely bust.
4. People forget about pointless SJW bullshit, because it just fades into insignificance in the face of economic depression.
5. All kinds of grifters and scammers have to find a honest job like restocking Walmart shelves.

*I know current economy is based on consumption and changing attitude of people would mean that we would never get back to the fake prosperity, but blatant consumerism is cancer imho.

If Nancy's going to be a bitch about people needing to survive before things get worse, then she deserves everything that's coming to her.

Justin must have been busy holding the snack tray.
He was hanging out with the guy in the bathroom. Who knew hand sanitizer could give such pleasure?

Hey if Trump just keeps calling it the Chinese virus, I'll consider voting for him.

Folks, we got lucky. Five more years of relying on China for everything and we'd all have been fucked. Not going to be easy to get out of there now but doable. HAS to be done. The "just-in-time" inventory concept needs to be revisited. Can only work with short supply chains. We have learned that the longer the supply chain, the more fragile.

Nobody with half a brain really believes the USA manufactured that virus. Whether they admit it publicly or not, the leaders of the major powers know who manufactured that virus - China.

I, too, hope and believe some good will come from all of this. Don't look for everything to happen quickly. Some things will take time to bring to fruition. That's okay.

I've always maintained the belief that nothing ever fucking happens on a grand scale anymore because everyone is too much of a god damn pussy to start anything. USA, China, Russia, EU, South American, Iran, Israel, etc. Nobody wants to do fuck all because everyone is too distracted with money, fancy shit, intricate geopolitics and don't want to rock the boat too hard or else everyone drowns. Happened with Middle East post-2015, happened with Venezuela, happened with Hong Kong, happened with North Korea.

Maybe when the economy finally fucks itself, people start getting getting pissed, and when people get pissed, the government gets scared, and when governments get scared, motherfuckers start actually blasting each other.

Nah, there are a couple of Muslims in my extended family who talk about their re.tarded religion, the idea that Allah has determined your fate is a core belief. Sort of like evangelical Christians and their belief God has a plan for everyone. Islam just adds goats, jihad and burkas.

And I've actually read the Qaran.

Isn't that every religion in its extreme? Stubborn dogmatism?

Any type of inflexible thought brings about disease, social repression and war.

"I know what God thinks ... God thinks your an idiot."

Any evidence for this blood type argument? That sounds like wishful thinking but I am happy to be wrong.

I don't think that people are likely to "blow off" social distancing measures, for the simple reason that government officials are making it almost impossible to do so.

However I do think that once there is an efficient testing method and they find that most people become asymptomatic carriers, and they figure put who will die from it, things might return to normal slowly but surely.

I mean, some people are going to die. They know it and we know it. The issue (I THINK) comes down to keeping enough ICU beds available to those who can be saved, with support.

Here's the material that was posted.

Keep in mind that the police can't be everywhere. In my area there seem to be quite a few people driving around on "essential" trips. And we aren't even 24 hours into our county's "shelter-in-place".

It always baffles me when people say 'don't call it the wuhan flu, it's the coronavirus!' not because of asking for it not to be called that, but they act like Coronavirus is the scientific name. Not only is COVID19 relatively common as a term for it, but they don't then extend that 'we shouldn't call it X' when completely unrelated businesses like the beer company get fucked.

Just showed up in my feed!!!!

Kiwis are ahead, yet once again.

Muslims like saying it's Allah will whenever anything good or bad happens. They're not to blame for anything bad. Good things happen because they're faithful Muslims. Your house caught fire? A dog shit in your yard? A relative died and left you a small fortune? It's the will of Allah. Predestination In Islam.

Again, I don't know if any of these has been posted, I guess not.

Peru, it's in day 3 of quarantine, and now w'eve been given a curfew.

Turns out that many young people got infected after the government asked people to stay at home before issuing the state of emergency, because they went all to clubs and pubs and that's how the virus moved around. Looks like they then passed it to their elders.

So, the order today at noon was that it's been forbidden to leave home from 8pm to 5am, unless it's an emergency or for people who have to work. The rest of us will be immediately arrested. I already seen it on tv, a man who was out only to get his car in the garage, was taken to the police station. If anyone needs any urgency to leave, like going to the doctor or whatever, they need to carry a white flag to alert the police. Cars also have to take a few precautions, but I don't know which are.

Today, people started with the clapping. I was a bit reluctant, but the kids wanted so we went to the windows to clap and there were people not only clapping but also singing the national anthem and another song that we all lvoe as a second anthem. From our window we could see about a dozen of police patrols who were going to stay up all night protecting the area, and it's the same everywhere so I guess they deserve it. Many people also approached some to give them food and water, which they totally deserve.

Also, looks like most Mexicans who were stuck here are finally being taken home. I don't know what's the deal with that. many are still stuck in the airport, and they have to sleep outside, waiting for any miracle flight, only protected by the poliec who's there. Most are Peruvians or Colombians who need to leave the city. I hope they can make it. Some have children and there are no hotels close nor any house close to keep them and they can't be much far away from it because as soon as a flight is announced, they have to leave very quickly.

We have 145 cases so far, the government says it's expected, so we're doing fine. I feel, we're gonna have more cases in the next day, but it's because of these stupid kids who didn't obey the orders. Luckily, it was contained quickly. We're gonna be fine, but it won't be until the next ten days. We're only day 3, it's yet 12 to go. Tomorrow's husband last day at work as he can do some here and hedoesn't need to leave, so we're gonna be all together safe at home until the final day. We're all fine so far, one of the kids only had a headache but it was unrelated, everybody's fine.

Stay safe, kiwis. We're gonna make it!

Truly this is the age of dark that Traditionalism talks about before we reach the new golden age.
