We had an email at work on Wednesday asking if anybody had any previous experience in Medical equipment engineering , quality control , procedures etc. We're not going to be retooling to produce stuff directly, but I think they are offering to put out anyone with relevant experience on secondment to places that can use them . No idea if this concept has come from us, or top down from the government.

Feels like we're going to see a rise of newborns without mothers, judging from how quick Corona takes them in postpartum and a majority of hospitals are infested with the virus.
I knew things were bad when people started unironically talking about how things were getting better in China and using China numbers. This is the kind of info that's interesting.
What's the guess? People too poor to afford phone service? Government cut off people? They fucking died?
Could it be bad data or something as simple as they switched to another provider?

Now that's concerning. You'd think with everyone stuck inside the cell phone usage would go up, not down.
There may be reasonable explanations for this, such as the companies shutting down "non-essential" towers to save on calling out maintenance personnel, but the animal part of my brain is screaming that those people are all fucking dead and that the Chinks are covering it up.

Italys public health system has collapsed. They're in full triage mode now and have to select which people to help and which people to let die. If you have a heart attack in the middle of this, chances are the ambulance might take a few hours, if it comes at all so deaths coincidental to this happen and they aren't even counted. They've also overtaken chinas number in shortest time which now even reports no new cases. The morbid thing is the chinese sending doctors to italy to be able to put a spin on this for their home propaganda. They should've denied these doctors entry into the country and I hope the chinese government will bleed for this.
In the meantime Italians still ignore curfew rules and tons get arrested and fined. Same situation in other european countries with curfew.

That's exactly what it is though. The Mayor of Tempe issued a proclamation, that's all. I was like, WTF? Who made him King? Where's any rules or regs around it? What if I say Fuck Off and decided to keep the doors open? Do they send the police to shut me down and throw my old sorry ass in jail? That's exactly why "proclaimed" was in quotes because really, what fucking weight does a proclamation carry? I mean, I can proclaim I'm the biggest shitposter in the world, but it's still meaningless. Ugh.

It makes perfect sense, the last thing basic utilities need are for huge swaths of their workforce to get sick and be unable to work.
The core industries at this point forward are electric, gas, internet/cable, supply chains/trucking, and garbage service. I probably missed a few, but if one or many of those fall, we're all in deep shit.

Does the "dogs dying from virus" have any merit? I'm seeing a lot of these but something tells me it's a dog just happened to lick a face of someone infected, not the virus itself infecting the dog, and the dog dying from other causes.

Bear this in mind. Chinese people are exceptionally good about getting around those filters when stuff really pisses them off. If they can call out the children of mid-level government officials, they can definitely call out that the state is lying about their parents' death.
