Got some kind of sickness the week of Christmas. It was incredibly rapid onset. During the morning I felt alright but in the afternoon I got throat irritation and a stuffy nose I initially thought was allergies. By nighttime I had a sore throat and fever and I woke up in the middle of the night to an awful sore throat that hurt so bad I thought I might have gotten strep. However that cleared up and I just ended up with a head cold that lasted a few days. I was on a family vacation and everyone ended up catching it. After the symptoms cleared up I had a lingering cough for weeks, then got some kind of mild illness that consisted of a fever, throat irritation/cough, and sinus congestion. (This was around the time people were starting to notice Corona-chan, so I was stocked up on masks to avoid giving others the bizarro-bug)

I know it’s kind of dumb to post this but, I think the armchair psychologists on the farms would like this.

The day before I was starting to feel like my throat was dry but I didn’t tell anyone because (1. I know what actually being sick is like and (2. I didn’t want to bother them with what was probably a placebo.
But it kept bothering me and making me think about the virus.
I had a dream last night that I was super sick in a surprising violent way, but in the dream I didn’t panic at all about violently puking my guts out in front of everyone.

When I woke up today my throat felt back to normal, and I didn’t feel “fake sick” anymore and felt normal and not so stressed out.
I guess this is me internalizing the stress of the virus and then resolving it in a dream?
(It also probably helped that I started drinking more water to stop my throat from feeling dry, lol)

Sounds alot like what i had about 3 weeks ago(maybe 4). very fast moving, half a day feeling like shit a little fever for a night, than fast recovery with a slightly soar throat for some time.

My theory is that people recognize saying "my wife's boyfriend's cousin's uncle who works at.." sounds retarded so they just shorten it to "my friend." It's probably even higher than that. The issues with the confirmed cases at face value are such:

1. People either too stubborn or too sick to get to hospitals/unable to get treatment
2. Governments either downplaying or trying to cover up the virus as a whole
3. Governments using a co-morbidity as the primary cause of death instead of Wuhan Flu
4. The ability to only test so many people at a given time

It's impossible to give a truly accurate number, but I'd say it's probably multiple times higher than what is confirmed.
