YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO SURRENDER TO EVERYTHING FRANCE.

The news coming out of New York City is not good. Was listening on NPR and apparently even people who are hooked up to the ventilators are having a bad time. They have to keep the patients entirely restrained because otherwise they will thrash and struggle and in total delerium think they are either drowning or the ventilator is actually choking them. Or both. Even max safe settings are having limited effects on some patients, and nurses have to constantly come in to make sure blood doesn't build up in the ventilator tubes. :cryblood:

The doctor they were interviewing also said the Government should start considering adding Morphine and Valium to the emergency stockpile "in order to help stop respiratory distress in patients who won't be able to get a ventilator". Translation: Assisted suicide. Just....

People panic, ventilators and not being able to breathe on your own is scary. Add in that they have a fever and a wicked cough, going from being relatively healthy for some and then literally at death's door. Being surrounded by people who're going through the same thing and a medical system that's trying it's best. This is to be expected. Terrible but expected. I had a neighbor who passed away from the standard flu a few years ago because she would have massive panic attacks when they tried to mask or tube her, they put her in a coma as a last resort and she never came out of it.

They're talking triage and they're talking assisted suicide but if you're too the point that you have a choice between them dying and you throwing any possible medicine at them to see if something sticks, they should choose the meds. If they're on their way out anyway might as well use them to see if any combinations of meds they can think of might work. You can't really do worse than death.

Ahhhh they've got nothing on Iran!

Confirmed cases: 20,610
Total deaths: 1,556

Edit: Also note that Iran's birth rate is 1.66 (very low) and if what I'm suspecting about Corona-chan and sterility are correct the population of Iran could be severely affected by this for decades.

I unironically love this. The doc can have his own opinions and that is cool. His job is to be a doctor and advisor and he doesn't have time for bullshit political jabs. All the better that he shows his discontent, because we can do that here.

President Trump is the President and a politician and while he doesn't have time for bullshit political jabs, his national news media and other elected officials seem unwilling to hit the brakes on the bullshit. Remember what I said in a previous post: Donald Trump cannot show weakness ever. Either by choice or by circumstance, he simply isn't allowed to like other presidents.

breaks =/= brakes

The guy was actually laughing.

NY's Governor Cuomo just announced the Manhattan strategy.

Why has New York fallen apart so much worse than everywhere else in the country?

We have the worlds largest stockpile of morphine at Fort Knox. It is worth more than the gold - basically, idk how we ended up with it, but we had a shitload of opium and it was going to go bad. The military got some chemist together and they isolated and made a giant fucking stockpile of morphine.

Morphine is considered the gold standard (it’s what every pain killer is measured against), but if they wanted to they could turn the morphine into stronger drugs pretty easy. 6-MAM 1.2x as strong iirc and in the state it is in is only 2 steps away to make that stockpile stretch even further.

There are more complicated synths they could do, but I’m assuming that if they do touch it it’s to get out ASAP. Even though you could stretch it out by getting shipments out and start turning the rest into other drugs. There are some slightly more complicated synths they could do and get 30x+ while still being effective, but not in the dangerous to be around and even breath like some strong pain killers can do.

Another medicine I expect to see rolled out is ketamine. So, China is one of the only countries that doesn’t consider it to be an essential medicine and basically has banned that entire class of drugs meaning we can pump it out hardcore and every military medic has ketamine on tap already. It is the only anesthetic that doesn’t require breathing assistance which is why most militaries use it for battleground wounds. You can also use it to put people in to temporary comas with out breathing assistance (if they need ventilators that would change, but they wouldn’t wake up stressed out) and would probably keep some medical staff more calm.

While on my travels today I found a couple of articles on this blog. I am referring them on mostly for archivers and time line addicts since, while I am unsure of and don't entirely endorse this person's reasoning or conclusions, there are a multitude of embedded links that may flesh timelines out, in particular the suspected peregrinations of our intrepid chinese spies microbiologists in the US and Canada.

YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO SURRENDER TO EVERYTHING FRANCE.

Very different amount of recoveries according to the live tracker.

France will provide an update in just over one and a half hours so I expect this to jump quite a bit again.
Italy update coming in about 6 minutes, expecting the worst.

Moscow Times has found evidence, based on dozens of interviews, that Russia’s rich are setting up makeshift clinics in their own homes to ensure they can have better care than the masses if they get infected. And in what may have severe ramifications down the road for Russia’s battle against the coronavirus, they are buying up and hoarding the ventilators that have proven essential in saving lives in severe cases.
The Moscow Times spoke with three wealthy individuals on the hunt for ventilators, all of whom asked for anonymity to speak candidly on the subject.
“A lot of my friends are trying to get them,” said one. “The moment one becomes available they buy it.”

Right. I've seen people get yelled at for writing 'cardiac arrest' as the cause of death. Obviously you can say that about everyone. And if someone's heart is still beating after they die then you may want to call the hospital chaplain because weirder things than COVID-19 are going down.

That said, I don't think there's a mass under-reporting of COVID-19 deaths. It's easy enough to find on an autopsy looking at their lungs. That's how the Feb. 14th case in Washington was found out. You can get infected doing that though, so maybe the medical examiners don't want to.

Somebody's heart is beating after they die?

What the hell?

That's just what being on a mechanical ventilator is like.

Blade down your throat, nurses poking you every two hours. Sound fun or comfortable?

Shush, according to doc that's because God willed hardships on them delivered by the US slave government working on behalf of the juice.
Soon God will notice the purity of the people of Iran and cure them of the WuFlu.
Yeah well they shouldn't have been colluding with the Chinese then. Allah has ripped back the curtain and exposed their shame to the world!

Outbreak.
The two must-watch movies right now are Outbreak and Contagion for speds who want to make basket cases out of themselves.
Last night Netflix suggested I watch Outbreak. Rude.

Solution to Corona-chan: put the entire world into a k-hole?
