Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

I'm wondering about that too. I guess they have the manpower and tools but the lines themselves I dont think are that flexable for something smaller than a vehicle. Something is better than nothing though but i'll bet most of the news outlets are thinking ( and pushing) they'll be rolling them off a line like they do cars.

The only thing I could think of - the respirators are built in a facility that makes relatively small things, like, say, alternators or air conditoner compressors. Sure couldn't build them on a vehicle assembly line.

Had a 1987 Cavalier Z24. It was pretty good. But I agree GM had better do a good job on the respirators.

Wonder how GM can build respirators on such short notice. Didn't believe they could do much of anything on short notice except raise prices and beg for government bailouts.

Don't see much difference in the Chiraq weekend death toll. Figure plenty of people in that area will be out and about. Not like they pay any attention to laws or authority.

I don't know about respirators. I do know that GM factories used to be quickly and easily convertible to build bombs and other military stuff. I have no idea if medical equipment was included in that, but it wouldn't surprise me if it had been done that way on purpose. It's one of the reasons that my area was always in the top 10 or 12 targets to be nuked by the Soviets back in the day even though we weren't an otherwise important target. We had several factories left over from WWII that could be started up again on very short notice along with GM factories that could be converted quickly for war time use.

Peru's government is refusing to let thousands of Americans to leave, effectively taking them hostage. They are demanding the US facilitate the return of their citizens first. They are also demanding the US organize and pay for the repatriation of Perus citizens in the US. if the US does not comply no aircraft wi be allowed to land.

You wana get Grenada'd? Cause this is how you get Grenada'd.

Rereading the article and it appears that Ventec Life Systems, the ventilator company, will be doing the actual work of building the ventilators, but "Ventec will use GM’s logistics, purchasing, and manufacturing expertise to build more of their critically important ventilators."
My fault for not reading the full article before posting it.

This is my last post on this forum - and I was in on it early. There isn't a whole lot to say other than Fuck - we blew our chance.

In closing to all those joining this forum thread now, it pays to go back at the start of this thread to see the obviousness of where this was all heading very early on - and to heed the predictions made by many - backed by science and not racism, arrogance or conspiracy.

There will not be a bump on global GDP, there will be a collapse. A recession is a best case scenario and it more likely will be a depression. The hope that governments would act in time is now just hindsight.

This will go on for some time and the world will never be the same after this all has passed in 12-18 months. Economies will change, currencies and the likely introduction of global digital currencies is likely along with immense job losses. Cultures will change.

Many lives will be lost, many will lose their homes, their jobs and their futures. People on this forum will lose people they love and some that they hate. I wish everyone on here the best of luck and can not stress this point enough: It is going to get immensely worse and any planning is better than no planning, but if you are of the mind this will all end and we will get back on track in 6 months, you are in for more than a disappointment.

If you for a moment could envision an advanced civilization, ask yourself who do you think would be in charge? Coal Barrons? Hotel Chain owners? Investment Bankers? Reality TV stars? People that even their own family told you not to vote for?

Or would they be scientists, academics?

What we could be is what we make it so. But not for the next decade, it is lost.

You can give me a thumbs down, a stupid vote or whatever you like, it really is of no consequence now. I have vulnerable family to attend to and there are real issues to get worked out. I'm sure the same could be said for most of you at this time.

Good luck.
Good times create weak men.
Weak men create hard times (You are here).
Hard times create strong men. We'll be fine.

The Public Health England government has produced a pretty decent tracker website

I mean the dot in London means 'all the cases in England' which is a shame. I bet they got that fucking halfwit Matt Hancock to sign off on it and it never occurred to him to say 'why not show where the cases are by or NHS region and not just lump all the cases together and put a big blob over London because that is misleading'

Wouldn't be the first time the German government has covered up mass death...
I think you're missing something, I can zoom into the blobs until they split into cases by boroughs and look at the UTLA tab.

I see what you mean. I'm still going to keep hating Matt Hancock and blaming him for the current shitshow though. Maybe I should learn to use Photoshop and do a Matt Hancock goblin avatar.

Christ I finally caught back up here. My sleeping pattern's been all sorts of fucked to the point where it takes forever for my brain to shut off and even when I do get to sleep I'm harassed with nightmares of the world falling apart, only to do my daily reading of this thread today to find out things have only gotten exponentially worse even from the last time I checked in... (:_(

Only positive to focus on right now is that nobody in my immediate or extended family has been paid a visit by the Chink harlot.

Slap me if Late but here's some news i saw on 4chan...

57 year old Manhattan lawyer dies after stating he was improving to his firm through email :

The mayor of the most badly affected city, Bergamo in the affluent northern region of Lombardy, said the true number of fatalities from the pandemic in his area was four times higher than was officially reported so far.
“Many of the elderly are dying in their houses or in old people’s homes, without anyone testing them either before or after they die,” Giorgio Gori told the Huffington Post.
