And here we have another strawman comic in text form, made by the same guy as the last strawman post I put in this thread. He doesn't post these sorts of posts that often, so his blog isn't really a goldmine, but they do make me wonder if he should get his own thread here. After all, though his standout content is uncommon, I'm getting a strong Dobson-vibe from these strawman posts.

Big Bang isn't a minstrel show, it's just shit with no connection to nerd humour whatsoever. Hell, it has no connection to 'humour' at all IMO
Plus, that stereotype of gamers is only perpetuated by the mass media outlets that simply don't understand that gamer 'culture' has moved on from the mid 90's, and was only really revived because Kotaku and all those other shits decided to use it as a weapon to stop people challenging their ethics or lack thereof. You don't get to complain when the stereotype you presented to the world (lest we forget, it's these websites that have deals with Google to turn up first in your searches after all) gets picked up and turned against you.

The cultural appropriation thing reminds me of the eyerolling one of my friends does at Tumblr. She's mixed race, the daughter of a white British dad and Indian mom who was also brought up in Puerto Rico. I remember her being so fearful of sharing photos of her in traditional Indian clothing (which was given to her by her grandmother - pretty sure she said it was a sari) on Tumblr because she didn't want to get hate for it from a bunch of white kids thinking she was being 'appropriative'.

She also groans whenever they bitch about white people with bindis because there are bindis for religious purposes, then there are just straight up fashion bindis with pretty minimal cultural/ethnic/religious significance, they're just worn because they look nice.

Unsurprisingly though she has seen so much more of the world and done so much more with her life than any of these whiny Tumblr prats.

They're talking about an episode where the asshole character Lars is hanging out with some kid who likes paranormal shit and takes a picture of a board hitting the little jerk in the face when he carves his name into it. The kid is a jerk and tears the photo up because the nerd was going to show everyone the picture as evidence of 'ghosts.'

btw remember the last thing I posted by a member of the staff?

Well they made him bow down again to meet their high standards of pronoun use.

Why is it whenever you ask an artist on Tumblr even the most basic question they flip out like you just called them retarded? This is like the third person this week I follow who sperged out over minor shit.

Oh lel, there are more goodies from this exchange.

"That was a pretty immature response to a basic question."
"Whatever. Buy me Pokemon crap, plebian."

I agree with the notion that you shouldn't snub artists just because they draw fanart, because hey, that's kind of silly. But people saying "yo, don't be a dick, inquiries about copyright are a perfectly reasonable question to ask" doesn't exactly strike me as "bitter and nasty."

"STOP YELLING AT ME FOR THROWING A TANTRUM. NOBODY LIKES YOU."

(By the way, hi guys. Been lurking the forums for a while. Finally decided to join.)

People who invent things to get pissed off about that aren't even real and edit photos for that purpose are a special variety of annoying.

Please be sarcasm, please be sarcasm... but it's tumblr so those reactions could be 100% serious.

But I'm going to pretend that two of the reactions were sarcastic, just for the sake of my sanity.

Yesterday there was a recital at my school featuring the students of the "improv ensemble" class. A Japanese classmate played a few Japanese folk songs with the assistance of a white, Italian guitarist. The Greek professor played a Greek folk song with the assistance of a white flute player and a white Jewish drummer. A Korean classmate who has immigrated from South Korea sang two Korean folk songs while dressed in traditional Korean clothing and with the assistance of the aforementioned white Jewish drummer, who was also wearing Korean clothing. And yet that drummer would have been immediately pointed at by everyone as being cultural appropriating the Korean clothing, even though it was almost definitely the Korean lady's idea to have both of them wear Korean clothing! Like, I just don't get how such a wonderful mix of cultures brought to us by natives of those countries can be so disliked because "cultural appropriation" and what have you. :(
I find it hilarious how most of these tumblrites think of it as 'Whitey vs. Everyone', despite the fact that Chinese restaurants are often found in every country, almost every culture has borrowed something from another, and they find nothing wrong with Africans, Arabs, or Latinos watching anime or appreciating Asian culture, but if the person, heaven forbid, has less melanin, it's racist.

When I first joined tumblr, it was near the end of 2012 with all the holidays and such. There were so many SJW posts guilting people over stupid Halloween costumes and enjoying Thanksgiving. Hell, a college classmate posted a picture of her Facebook bitching on how white people get away with dumb mob shit on St. Patrick's Day.

Those types of tumblr posts indicate how these people are fun at parties. *sigh*
