Has anyone took the time to visit your local hospital yet to report on this weird shit ? Not even asking to enter in them... just look around if there are so much people needing to be tested / treated outside as news says they are "overwhelmed" with waves of patients.... Maybe these are just country side / without a real need for patients right now and just in standby for the waves incoming tho.
Now it got me curious i'm going to check at hospital too tomorrow.

Albacete's hospital's emergency collapsed today for a few hours. Don't think there's any dead as a result but the images were still disheartening. Seems the real bad news start now.

I'm looking forwards to seeing them start testing Americans who aren't showing symptoms. A lot of us have been really weirdly sick over the last three months and we're wondering if we've already had it. If we did, maybe we can start going back to work or something.

Just a random non-specialized opinion for what it is worth ....
From what I have read here and there, influenza viruses, for example, have been documented since ancient times. There are mentions of waves of illnesses that somewhat resemble the flu.
We are born with the accumulation of immunities against crap that is in the human environment, and has been since forever, because our mother's passed their immunities onto their daughters and sons. So babies are NOT born with an immunological blank structure. They build their own immunities, based on what they inherit through the umbilical cord.
For example, when you bring home a newborn, and open the refrigerator near by, there is a massive "poof" of all kinds of molds and bacteria in there. Unless there is some serious issue there, baby should not die in 5 hours from being overgrown with bacteria and mold spores.
So being that this corona virus is so new, we don't have immunities against an entire family of viruses, over long periods of time, that we do against influenza or rhinoviruses, etc.
So I am a bit skeptical about some projected "herd immunity." It is also not the chickenpox, where kids get exposed to it and they are (supposedly) immune thereafter. I think that old-timers and republicans are hoping for a chicken-pox-.like immunity so that life can go on as usual and they won't die, but I am not going to hold my breath ... as long as I am still breathing, of course.
Basically no matter who you are, life is pretty much going to suck in some way, from now on. Brace yourself.
We will cope though. Life will continue, but unless there is some sort of broad immunity that develops, or a vaccine emerges, this condition stands to maim or kill a sizeable percent of the population within the next few years.

I understand that there will be outliers, but the system needs to be built for the vast majority.
- Live on benefits or grants: housing benefit, sickness benefit other NEET stuff. Your income won't change. You don't need a £1000 a month bonus while the productive parts of society work to fix things.
- Have a non-essential job. Your employer is very unlikely to be sacking you (we were talking about the UK here). Your employer continues to pay you, possibly at reduced rate subsidised by the government.
- Have an essential job. You're out working your arse off to keep us fed and healthy while I kick a ball around the garden. You do not need to be punished for this, even in the differentials. You deserve a bonus.
- Self employed, or recently made unemployed. Emergency supplement based on recent declared income.
- Other fixed income, retirees etc. Your income won't change.
- Drug dealers , buskers, cash in hand dodge pots, the bottom 1% who fall through the cracks. I don't know . Some sort of direct emergency assistance that you register for, and you explain why you don't fit into one of the main 5 categories. Maybe food stamp type stuff. don't really care. You're unlikely to be trying to pay your mortgage or feed a family.
The point of this magic money is to partially replace people's normal income, to keep the mechanics of the economy going. It's not to usher in this magic UBI world where we just like, take all the money from the 1% and then like nobody has to work for corporate fascist bastards.
Giving up on this now, because I've noticed I get narky and MOTI later in the day. Participating in this thread has brought out my inner sperg.
