Regale us with stories of how you use cash for everything rather than using cards.

Physical currency makes up only about 11% of US money 89% is digital only.

You're absolutely right. There is zero way we will ever have a national emergency that would ever necessitate using physical cash again. There's no way power or electronic banking or credit cards could even be down for even a day. Nope, no problem here.

Personally, I never carry cash. I try and use cards for everything. I have personal and work credit cards I charge literally everything to every month, and pay off monthly to get the sweet sweet cashback points. But this past month, I'm not doing that. I charged a bit more too, all my supplies. $80,000 in available credit I never use--whelp I dipped into that a bit because it's for emergencies and this is an emergency. I can pay off all the canned food and TP with my Trumpbux anyway when things settle down.

I then took out most, not all, but most of my cash. Bought some fireproof safes to store around the house, got lots of smaller bills. Probably will take out more each week when I get paid. I'm not doing anything permanent here. I'm not completely draining my accounts and totally closing them. I'm not maxing out my cards, though I will probably have to pay few $$ more in interest payments each month for a time. I'm still paying my bills. If this blows over, I can easily just put the money back in, pay off the cards, no problem.

But in the meantime. I have cash so I can buy shit in an emergency. If power goes down, I can go to the store and buy food. If I need to spend an exorbitant amount to pay for a ride to get to my family 30 miles away, I can do that. I could pay cash to see a doctor, even if it's a few hundred bucks.

If everyone takes out cash now, the banks will crash. If they few of us reading this forum, which is very ahead of the curve compared to the national discourse, take out our cash, we'll just be safe and can always put our money back and the banks won't crash.

Kazakh update: Triple digits club
Total infections up to 109.

...oh. They accidentally poisoned a bunch of pigeons. (Most likely reason.)

We really don't fucking want to do this. Everyone's still debating. There's been 3 versions of the document passed around the group. Thing is... fuck even the medics, they are a bit on edge but they still don't know just how far this shit's gone, it's administration and the unions here that really have all the info. And if you've paid attention to my prior messages you know how bad shit has gotten for our professional gossipers to have gone silent like this.

The collapses have already been taken out of the message. We're still doing it unofficially but we're not making it public. We know how much people would panic if we did.

No one wants to fucking do this but. What can we do? We've literally got NO tests and NO masks. If this wasn't an alarm state every patient under our care could sue us for malpractice! Fuck some are wondering if WE caused the neurology outbreak because honestly without any tests how the fuck can you tell if the nurses have turned into vectors? We gave the old folks holmes a call, they're doing fine, we're trying to ensure that collapse doesn't happen again but no one knows what the fuck we can do.

All we really know is the crown and junta have both sent us to the front lines without any proper gear, stole what we had, and now that the fog's gone that's definitely an enemy fleet.

We don't wanna mutiny. We really fucking don't. But the losses will pile up if we don't do it. Right now we can't ensure even our own operative's safety much less that of our patients. And all we recieve from duke, crown and media is "shut the fuck up and take it like a man, we don't care."

For you burgerfolk. Imagine if Cuomo's demands of just send everything ro NY let the rest of the country die was met with trump literally cleaning your hospital of gear and sending it all to NYC. What would you do?

We know madrid's suffering. No shit it's suffering. But a) they are controling it much more than they claim they are. Fuck they even already got excess ventilators but they're still bitching for more 'cause "muh prediction", meanwhile they've even reoppened the fucking construction of a new industrial zone. Meanwhile it ain't a prediction here. No one's dead yet but the virus is very much here and we don't even have a status report. We have nothing. We've been left stranded and alone and every time an "ally" ship comes its to steal more of our gear.

I didn't say that but whatever.

Enjoy all of your makeshift toilet paper.
In the event of a economic disruption so large the power goes out (but somehow your store is still open) I'm sure your paper currency will be useful.
If you wanted to have a real GTH plan you would take some of that cash around to pawn shops and buy some gold and silver.

A Pennsylvania supermarket was forced to dispose of tens of thousands of dollars in food after a woman purposely coughed on products as a "twisted prank."

On Wednesday night, the co-owner of Gerrity's Supermarkets, Joe Fasula, released an announcement on Facebook that a woman entered one of the grocery stores and coughed over produce, meats, and baked goods, forcing the store to throw away $35,000 worth of food.

"While there is little doubt this woman was doing it as a very twisted prank, we will not take any chances with the health and well-being of our customers. We had no choice but to throw out all product she came in contact with," he wrote. "Working closely with the Hanover Township health inspector, we identified every area that she was in, we disposed of the product and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected everything.

"We are checking to see if our insurance company will cover it, but even if they do, our rates will surely go up next year. I am also absolutely sick to my stomach about the loss of food. While it is always a shame when food is wasted, in these times when so many people are worried about the security of our food supply, it is even more disturbing," he continued.

Local police, who do not believe the woman has COVID-19, said she will face criminal charges for what Fasula called a "travesty."

"The suspect has been identified and is being evaluated at a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Criminal charges will be filed," the Hanover Township Police Department wrote in an online post.

The incident came days after a New Jersey man was arrested for coughing on a grocery store employee and claiming to have the coronavirus. He was charged with making terroristic threats, harassment, and obstruction of just ice.

Ireland updates, some of this may have already been said but you'd need to be putting in the hours of a part time job to keep up with this thread now.

1,564 cases, 305 in hospital, 39 in ICUs, 9 dead, and 5 recovered (our first cases were only reported 3 weeks ago which is how long it takes to be considered recovered so I don't consider that strangely low). Newly reported cases have been in the region of 200-250 per day for the past few days, community transmission accounts for around half the total.

Last night the government announced it was narrowing the criteria for testing again. Apparently after they loosened them 20k people per day started requesting tests and doctors were agreeing to refer nearly as many, when there was only the capacity to test around 2k per day. At the time they announced the restrictions there was a 40k backlog, with people often waiting over a week and only 6% of people who did get tests were positive. Now to be referred for a test you need to display at least two of the three main symptoms and be in a "priority" group- health workers, contacts of confirmed cases, and those with preexisting conditions that put them at an increased risk. They're still increasing test capacity, aiming for 4k per day by the end of the week.

Unemployment benefit for people out of work or quarantining because of the virus has been increased to €350 per week, about the same as you'd get after tax for working full time on minimum wage. The government will also reimburse businesses that continue to pay employees 70% of their pay up to €410 per week. Illness benefit was previously increased to €305, both were €203 previously.

School and college closures have been extended to April 19th, as far as I remember this is right before the easter break though so realistically this runs into May. The national broadcaster is going to start airing primary school lessons on TV from Monday. Outdoor gatherings were limited to 500 people, now they're limited to 4 people. Walking trails, parks and beaches haven't been ordered to close but some did anyway when people swarmed them over the weekend. Police have been enforcing the ban on indoor gatherings, especially relating to pubs that tried to stay open and ones that did may not get their licences to sell alcohol renewed. Non-essential retailers have been ordered to shut and a list of what is considered essential has been published so managers can't weasel around it. Mostly supermarkets, pharmacies and things like electronics and stationary that people need to work from home. Guidelines are being published on how to enforce social distancing in shops that are open, I've noticed that supermarkets were already increasing security and one set up a queueing system outside so you can only go in when someone else leaves.

All private hospitals have been made public until the pandemic is over. That adds 80% to the country's ICU capacity, plus thousands of normal beds and staff, overall levels compared to elsewhere in Europe are still on the low side though. All treatment relating to the virus will be completely free. The health service is also doing an emergency recruitment drive, the priority is doctors and nurses who aren't currently working in the country but it's open to anyone with relevant skills, and 60000 people signed up in the first few days. 1000 civil servants have already been moved to work on contact tracing. The Defence Forces have been on standby since last Monday but haven't been deployed yet.

There have been cases of scummers going around intentionally coughing or spitting on people so cops are being issued special bags to shove over their heads.

Dave Cullen and Rocking Mr E have a discussion which rapidly turns into a circlejerk about how the government are using this to transition to an authoritarian society.

Do these people realise we are in this situation because of an authoritarian government and most of us are aware? Are they also aware that the situation in Italy and Spain was out of control because they have already authoritarian (Spain at least) governments who lied and told everybody everything was fine?

> government says stay home

"OMG LITERALLY MAO!"

Cullen needs to chill, realize they have THREE times (+/-1500) the number of cases of a country that is 10 times their population, and start praying very hard his government find anyone not listening to the precautiosn given and beat the hell up of them for the lesson to sink in.

Actually I dropped some money on 500 junk silver dimes when silver crashed last week. So between that and my existing silver coin collection I have quite a bit in liquid money. Each pre-65 Roosevelt or Mercury dime is worth a little over a dollar right now and climbing, even to a non collector. To a collector, a low grade 1925 dime might be worth $5, but to Joe at the bread shop, he might at least let me spend it for a dollar on some bread. Its small denominations and easily verifiable as currency-far easier to spend than silver bars or newer minted collector coins.

Would have liked some gold but it's way too expensive and would be too large to buy small day to day shit with.

Styx points of that Trump's approval rating is up

Even CNN admit it

https://web.archive.org/web/2020032...nald-trump-gallup-approval-polling/index.html

It seems like the Democrats' dumb response to the pandemic has benefited Trump just like the Dems dumb response to most things recently has benefited Trump. Even if, like me, you hate the Democrats don't crow too much about this. It's not healthy for a country with first past the post and hence only two viable parties at most (Archive) to have one of those parties be non-viable. In the long run that will cause the other party to deteriorate due to a lack of competition and the Republican party has always been pretty crappy at the best of times.

First press note released. Second one coming. Shit got even more real. I'll start posting the press release here in attach files.

In the end the direct mutiny won't be done. We only got our sails but that line's gotta hold somehow. What tipped the balance though is the fact shit's hit the fan even harder than we imagined. We'll make a press release for that tomorrow. So... time to explain that.

UBMI is the Medical Inspectors. Their job is to check the healthcare personnal that's not working, see if they have a reason not to work, and send them back if they don't. And as you can imagine they are LUNATICS. You know what it is to see a guy with a catheter go to your desk asking for help because the inspector told them they gotta work with that shit? My union contact does. I've seen so much crazy shit.

Well when we were tracking what caused the neurology outbreak. We traced it back to a celador that was supposedly not working due to being positive for corona due to the first outbreak. Yeah as it turns out UBMI has been sending back to work EVERYONE unaffiliated to the unions from the corona outbreak.

Meanwhile the director from Jerez (PP) which is where the donations from PYMEs go in andalucia has just straight up stationed cops on the warehouse they go to and is straight up sending everything to madrid, no questions asked.

So I guess this has gone so far off the deep end the mutiny is useless. Nothing can really protect now. This is a plague ward. The junta's also literally trying to dismantle the unions so we don't even know what we're gonna be capable of fixing anymore. They're telling me to go back because since most official unioners will be sent to other stuff it's the pet mongrels like me the only ones that will have agency now if the junta gets away with it. I warned them I was sick they told me at this point we probably all are. So I guess in the end, as always, the planet will break before the guard does.

IT Problems here: Parts and new equipment.

With everyone work from home that means office visits are rare. What happens when your laptop breaks? You sure as shit aren't sending a tech out to the house to fix your laptop that you let your crotchfruit eat their YumYum's on and dribble SugarDrink all over your equipment so they have to come into the offices where there are spare laptops. Laptops still have to be setup so the tech has to come in as well. You need to have the handoff and paperwork has to be signed all official like. If not HR (who have LITERALLY NOTHING ELSE TO DO) go nuts because they don't have the old info mesh with the new info and god forbid someone walk off with a glorified email/word processor in the hundreds of dollars...

This part has not gone unnoticed and now have 1 person in the office for the whole week handling this basic task with a 24hour turn around on replacements. If you are in IT having 24 hours to replace your equipment is amazing, we are like a damn pit crew for an Indy car.

Oh you left the state and went to some remote fuckall place? Fuck you drive your ass in to the office we aren't shipping you anything because UPS/FedEx has deemed your equipment NONESSENTIAL and they refuse pickup of materials.

You'd think I murdered their family and ate their dog for having to drive into the offices to pickup new equipment with the effort that needs to be done.

Because I love my people and don't want them to die, I make sure that every employee who has this happen to them must state on record that they or their family has no Flu like symptoms, have not been in areas where Coronoa-Kun has been reported, or other CYA nonsense. If they have I refuse to have any of my staff meet them and make sure their boss, my boss, HR is aware of this. Thankfully this has not happened but I already set the policies in motion. If you are sick, your shit breaks, stop fucking work and don't die. Christ people.

We have the employee put the laptop in a plastic sealed bag in a drop off (think big ziploc bag), we reset their password so we can test what they are doing, have a station setup where they login and test their equipment, MINIMAL HUMAN CONTACT, all done on a schedule. Person leaves, we wipe that whole station down and move onto the next person. I'm billing for hazard pay for staff that has to go into the office like they were soldiers going over the trenches in WW1.

Also Comcast/Xfinitiy is having major outages so people can't work so now that's biting us in the ass.

If the VPN equipment decides to die we are fucked, all are redundant everywhere (Go me for demanding failover) so we got that going for us.

Management is shocked this is going so 'well'.

flipland updates:
some checkpoints in Pampanga province put some coffins to scare people to stay at home during the shutdown (kinda poetic, as Pampanga province is considered as the coffin capital of the flipland)

and in other news, the police chief of Manila Police District, a lieutenant general threatened to shoot the people that will break the home quarantine, as the muslim subdivision has been breaking the quarantine protocols over and over.

This is going to sound like a mad doomer post, and I accept I’m some random anon on the internet.

But I know this affects a few of you, and I feel I need to pass it on. No, I don’t have a copy of sauce to show you, but I have this from a direct source who I trust 100%.

The instruction has gone out quietly from central govt to the NHS trusts/health boards that anyone who is on the list of the ‘shielded’ group is not to be ventilated if they present to hospital.

If you or anyone close to you is in the shielded group, take every fucking precaution you can at least until we seem to be on the downswing of the peak.

I cannot show you the source communications, and I know I sound like a lunatic. This absolutely will not be announced to the public. But those of you who might be affected by this need to know: you have already been triaged out of care.

for the love of God, stay home and stay away from others.

addendum - the shielding guidance and criteria are here. https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...ng-extremely-vulnerable-persons-from-covid-19
