Black outs happen . It doesn't mean the world is ending. You have local black outs in the States from severe weather all the time. It's nice to have a back up payment plan.
Agree about the pawn shop gold and silver, especially if we're planning for long term economic crappness. Cheap gold chains you can break links off might be useful .
Another use for a stash of cash is buying things that you or the vendor don't want tracked. Illegal , black market ration busting , whatever.

Planning doesn't have to be for a specific scenario , it can cover a bunch of what ifs.

No, but you sound like you're overreacting to a fairly obvious protocol. The NHS is planning ahead so that the front line staff know what the policy is when it happens. And yes, triage is a thing. Until resources become infinite there will always be rationing in some form for every resource, inclusing medicine. Can use:
- Money
- First Come , first served
- Clinical outcomes.

No I can’t. I read over someone else’s shoulder. I have no official access to any of this shit, but like I always say, being a nosey bastard who knows folk pays dividends.

It’s not misinformation. You have to judge that for yourself, as you must judge every source of information that you get, but it’s not misinformation. I would absolutely not put shit out there at a time of major panic.

I considered whether I should put it here after sharing it with people close to me. I figured if I put it here, it has the possibility of helping someone, whereas if I keep it under my hat as I was told to... I felt this was the more ethical choice.

Like I say, I’m a random anon on the internet to you. You make your own decisions. I have done what I think was the right thing.

It’s not that if you tick one box you’ll be left, it’s that those criteria will help inform who will benefit most and least. If you’re a pregnant women with a heart compliant, but otherwise in good nick, you’re going to get a vent over someone who is 93 and otherwise alright.
If it comes to triaging, and it will, then it won’t be single criteria yes/no for most. It will be the whole picture of the patient and those criteria will be taken into account. Also, as others have said, mechanical ventilation is horrible and not everyone will survive it. Like CPR and resus generally, you do that to an elderly frail person and ribs snap like twigs, and maybe you get them stable but they’re not healing from that. It’s not like it is on the telly, a few pushes and someone starts breathing and walks off.
If I was elderly, indeed when I am elderly, past a certain point, I’ll be making sure no fucker is standing on my sternum or Shoving a vent tube down my throat. Failed resus is not a dignified death.

Honestly.. no more than usual. Seriously its not the third world that suffers from pandemics, they already arent stable, and people die in record numbers, thats kind of their definining trait. But in the free first world we kind of need everything to be running smooth to keep our stability.. We are the shithole countries that are gonna get fucked.

I read something about how U.S. drones over Iran see what they believe might be mass graves - supposedly, Iran is suspected to be dealing with an extremely large number of Covid-19 cases, but is unwilling to report it and admit weakness. The article did admit that this is not entirely proven, but they suspect it might be the case.

Not entirely accurate. Third world countries are not uninhabitable hellscapes where everyone wears chapped leather and rides around like mad max. On any normal day even places like the Democratic Republic of the Congo are fine. And its also not like they are suffering mass pandemics either. Yeah, you might run into something that doesn't exist commonly in America like Cholera or Typhoid, but its not like people are keeling over and dying en masse either. In the case of Corona, its a Novel virus, which means even the storied third worlder immune system has no defense against it. Its just as likely to spread there as here. With the added problem of weak governments unable to enforce quarantines, and broken medical systems unable to apply lifesaving care. A double whammy resulting in more wide spread dispersal of the virus, and cases that are otherwises treatable resulting in death instead.
