Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I am so sick and tired of this Clown World "invisible enemy" chaos, and I'm sure we all miss the pre-corona world already.
I much prefer now tbh.

People are staying far away from me. There's less people on the road and school buses are gone. I can laugh at the many people I saw today wearing open masks that do nothing in preventing one from contracting a virus. And since I'm an ugly friendless loser, nothing has changed for me.

If I end up getting another $1200 of Trumpbux to my current $1000 NEETbux, fuck it, China can bring all the killer virii.

It wont. Hantavirus spreads from contaminated rat feces.

They all ate at the same restaurant. It's likely the restaurants rice stores were contaminated by rats, and everyone was exposed because china is a nasty nasty place.
Not just rats, but many rodents. In 1993, the 4 corners of the SW U.S., went thru a bad spell of Hanta virus. It severely affected my Navajo brothers and sisters on the Rez. It was carried by the very cute deer mouse. Just the act of sweeping up the droppings caused the feces and urine to become dust, which was breathed in by the victims, infecting them, and killing many. It was a medical mystery for quite some time, due mostly to lack of reporting and investigation of the deaths.
Anyone who does any outdoors camping, lives rurally or in rodent infested cities, should be aware when encountering evidence of rodent presence to use dust masks and gloves when cleaning up rodent droppings or nests. Hanta sperg over.

ETA I lied. Still sperging. For any exceptional individuals or med peeps interested in more lore, this is an interesting article. Navajo elders and tradition had identified the rodent/human vector for a long time. When the pinon crop was good, there were more rodents, which corresponded with human disease. Oral tradition warned of need for cleanliness and avoidance of rodents when the rodent pop was high.

Here's a weird one:

Google Translate says: "Chinese police posing upstairs as residents, Don't even bother changing uniforms ~ "

Now, I struggle to believe that the police would pose for a publicity stunt like that, and forget to actually dress the part. Surely that isn't what's happening here, right? Have we truly fallen so far into clown world that this video shows exactly what the tweet says it does?

well I'm officially quarantined.
no test yet. unless I get symptoms. we have someone on the floor we work on who popped up with fever and is up in the ICU now.

I'm all right with this, our PPE was low. reusing face shields is doubly unpleasant when you're cutting into lung tissue all day. the freezer will be a nightmare when I get back though, I know this.

exelcsior!

those states are not testing. people there are dying of this already; medical systems already overwhelmed. but they're lying on their results-
little China, right here in the USA.
watch them. this week is a wave breaking.

two weeks will be a tsunami. plenty people are ready for Easter church in those states. I'm not happy to know what will happen after that.

those states are also the ones with no ACA expansion, too- less people even going to the doctor at all. they rely on the ER for all their care. not good. there are less hospitals, less ICU, less everything there. I feel bad for people trying to stay safe in those areas.

local ground report;

our numbers are going down for now because of stay-home orders and business closures. in about two weeks we will see a big bump from the people that were exposed up until that happened. (Washington state)

it takes up to 21 days to get sick and die; look for death tallies in three weeks for a better picture.
they've been putting everyone prone for a while now. raised the survival rate a little bit.
weaning from the vent is all I hear people talking about in the rest of the hospital.

doctors here are now diagnosing based on sign and symptom. thick mucus with fibrous quality and at least three of the six main symptoms- it'll get diagnosed covid 19. not enough tests, still.

stay home. stay home.
Erm, does fibrous quality mean.. chunks? Asking for... myself. I'm asking for myself.

Look, I know all you people are currently obsessed about potentially losing your loved ones to this deadly virus and how you may lose your job and livelihood in the future...but we must remember who the real victims are in this situation!

Coronavirus In Minnesota: ‘We’re Watching You’: Racist Note Left On Woodbury Home Of Asian American Couple

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Twin Cities couple Alvin Moua and Vanishia Yang say they are sad and angered by a racist note left on their door this week.

When Moua returned home Wednesday, he noticed a piece of paper stuck to his front door in Woodbury.

“I thought it might have been a notice sign,” Moua said. “As I got closer to it and actually read the note itself, yeah, it was pretty disturbing,”

This was the note plastered on his front door:

(credit: CBS)
“We’re watching you f—— c—– take the chinese virus back to china. We don’t want you hear infecting us with your diseases!!!!!!!!!!”

The note was signed, “Your friendly neighborhood.”

Moua’s emotions were racing.

“Anger. Frustration. A lot of anger,” he said.

After alerting their landlord, he called Woodbury police. The department tells WCCO there are no leads, although detectives are working on it.

“This sort of behavior has no place in our community. We are saddened that a person would be so cruel as to racially blame a neighbor for COVID-19,” police officials said.

That sentiment was echoed online. Yang’s post is drawing hundreds of supportive comments.

“It kind of, I guess, makes me sad, I don’t know, because I would like to feel welcomed here,” Yang said. “It’s hard. You know, it just makes it a little harder to be Asian American.”

Though it’s painful, Moua and Yang think it’s important for all to know about the hurtful things that are happening close to home.

“Please don’t be afraid to share your story. I mean, we need to spread the awareness,” Yang said. “Because, obviously, there are people out there who care.”

Woodbury Mayor Anne Burt apologized to the couple on behalf of the city. She encouraged victims, or anyone aware of these incidents, to call 911.

Its going to be hoax. Its always hoax.

It's any rodent feces/urine. Handsome young athletic man (just like the Navajo athletes back in '93) during winter break goes on vacation on Shelter Island, L1 . Place was absolutely infested with white footed mice who also harbor the deadly form of pulmonary hantavirus. He dropped dead when he went back to Brown in Providence.
There have been other cases of hantavirus on the East Coast and all involved mice. I'm absolutely freaked out by it and I used to have both mice and rats as pets.
