Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

It is lucky this virus is not as deadly as ebola or the plague, or with that attitude we would all be finding dead people at their office desks.

And that is believing it only goes for boomers and leaves no permanent damage in younger people that could bite them in the ass if they ever get sick again.

Now imagine it does and comes back again in a year. If a vaccine is not ready by then.... imagine an economy permanently burdened by a huge group of invalid people and the sheer employee shortage.
It is super optimistic to think this thing will only thin out Ooga Booga, Ching Chong and Pajeet. This will hit low population areas like an already struggling Europe.

It also targets fat fucks so America is in a pickle, since there every race found solidarity in being morbidly obese.

Mind if this does in globalism and the whole one world, one goverment, one culture thing, I will not mind that.

Localising industry in your nation is good. Overseas jobs are bad. Nations do not just exist to be cattle for corporations to make a profit. That system is not healthy for the population nor good for any military or natural disaster situation.

I mean, even if China had no nukes, nobody could attack them because they make everything. So attacking them would tank your economy. But sometimes viruses or earthquakes do this for you without any hostilities and you are fucked.

Jit and globalism only work when every circumstance is perfectly fine.

Also, why are so many people in debt? Seems like a bad cultural practice. If you can not afford it, do not have it lol. We can live without a new lego set every week, despite CWC's claims otherwise.

I didn't see this posted but DeSantis decreed all incoming New Yorkers must quarantine themselves for 14 days. He's sending the National Guard to airports to make sure they comply.

Yeah, he can't do that. Something about the Commerce Clause and Privileges and Immunities. Good luck Ron.

People above 65 will only be allowed to visit these places between 9:00 AM and noon, while others will be banned from entering during this time.

Police will be enforcing these restrictions with the involvement of military police and other law enforcement agencies.

Violating these restrictions is punishable with a fine of up to 500,000 Forints (~€1400).

This fine is approximately 2-3 month's full salary, nothing to laugh at .

I don't see why the feds won't allow states to do this given other Constitutional rights are suspended. All the NYC airports are still offering flights anywhere in the country while ordinary New Yorkers aren't allowed to operate or patronize businesses. If a state complains, odds are Federal Court will render a quick decision. It's utter lunacy why this is the case, or why you can still board an airplane or use public transit without measures seen in China like checking temperatures or rejecting people who appear to be ill (even if it's only a cold/another coronavirus or the actual flu, you don't want an infection with that AND COVID-19).

I'm telling you, this whole outbreak will be a blimp compaired to the destruction that is being caused by these weird measures.
Yes exactly, that's the entire point. If we do it right, assholes will get to bitch and moan about "look how small the outbreak ended up being" for the rest of their lives. They won't even realize that such an outcome was the preferred one compared to an even worse disaster caused by not shutting things down temporarily.

This has come up a few times already. It's an Armored Brigade that just returned from Korea with their equipment. They just offloaded the ships in LA and packed everything on the trains. The tanks are going back to the factory for refit and upgrade. The Troops are getting new Tanks/already upgraded tanks when they return to their home base.
I feel this is like the people freaking out about typical bird behaviour on the other thread. I remember the phenomenon from 9/11 as well. It's a byproduct of panicky people with too much time on their hands suddenly noticing shit that has been going on around them for fucking years and they never once noticed it because they were focused on inane shit preoccupied and couldn't be arsed to observe anything outside their bubble.

I'm not trying to de-debunk, but we use desert-colored tanks in Korea?
I haven't given tank vids much credence because you can rarely tell where they were taken, and yeah, that's how they move heavy armor around the country. Snagged those two because location was specified.

I’m just going by what a couple of servicemen who loaded the tanks on the trains said in response to another similar YouTube thread. These are tanks that just came back from overseas deployment. They were offloaded at Port Hueneme(sp?) apparently in Ventura? Loaded on rail cars, and are on their way to General Dynamics (Michigan?). No idea on the desert tan. There are also some green and brown APC’s mixed in. 300 vehicles in total.

but we use desert-colored tanks in Korea?
Yes, you do, and have done since the turn of the century. European theatre tanks started getting olive and green in 2017 or so, when Russia started to get more aggressive, but units elsewhere are painted in desert tan so that they can cycle in and out of the middle east without too much hassle.

What’s that? Which thread?
The main thread. The poster was one of our doomers. There were a bunch of videos posted of crows and seagulls eating trash in the street in Wuhan and some videos of crows likely doing the same daily migratory pattern as some crow species do elsewhere. Since then there have also been vids of gulls and pigeons following people around for handouts. It was birds doing what birds do, but people didn't pay attention until now, so it comes off as ominous.

The military has been playing in the sandbox and rockpile for so long everything is FDE. Everything the local guard has is FDE. I can't tell you the last time I saw a green truck.

If you want the specifics of what @RodgerDodger stated, here's my post from another thread.

People aren't buying "legos" or other crap.
They're getting business loans and home loans. They're not buying random shit.
They're the industries that keep the country going. That's how business works, regardless of whether you have communism, capitalism, barter, feudalism.
Shutting down industry has been bad in Malaysia.
The people who manufacture the rubber gloves the rest of the world needs (highest producer in the world) have been forced to close their factories. They're lobbying hard to re-open.

So no gloves. Even if they get their factories up and going, their suppliers won't be able to open. They can't get the materials to make the gloves. No gloves for the rest of the world. Making the problem even larger.

I don't actually think people understand how these measures truly effect things. They only see the surface issues.

I'm all for lockdowns if they're reasonable, but when you're contributing to the problem - like nurses/doctor's need supplies, shutting down the people who MAKE those supplies is utterly insane. Doesn't that just make it all worse? It makes no sense at all.

Mind if this does in globalism and the whole one world, one goverment, one culture thing, I will not mind that.
That's seriously disturbing and naive of you. It's not going to work in a way that will benefit anyone. If governments have a hard time managing a vast country, they're going to have a hard time managing the world. There will only be the very rich and the very poor. Just like in China. I don't think people really understand just how bad it is if you aren't rich in China. China is a model for how that kind of thing will work. It doesn't.

I don't know who you think will magically take care of you in that situation.

South Korea has handled it the best. Track, Trace, Test. Keep industry going, keep life normal. Track and trace the people with infections. Keep them locked down. That limits the spread. But industry can still keep working, keep supplies up. They've kept people working on important things like producing test kits for the rest of the world.

They've handled it with logic and sensibility. It's not perfect, but it's been a better response than elsewhere.

In NSW, Australia, the government was lax on cruise passengers who they knew were infected. They sent NSW health to their disembarkments, but they didn't do anything. They just stood around. Cruise passengers were outraged, most self isolated, thankfully.
Yet at the same time, they forced businesses to close, forcing people out of work. They put the responsibility of controlling the outbreak on the community and not on logical measures they had the power to take. It makes no sense at all.
There was no community transmission at that stage. They could have just done their job and prevented the cruise passengers from mingling, but they didn't. Doesn't that seem like poor logic?

As of like yesterday, they finally bought in the laws of putting the infected returnees into enforced lockdown in hotels.
That will drastically reduce transmissions. It's also funny that the rich suburbs in Sydney are the ones spreading it, whilst the normal/poorer suburbs are the ones effected by the job losses/business closures/evictions.
It makes no logical sense.

My hometown has a "SaferAtHome" order (read: Shelter-in-place, but faggier), and according to my folks, there are a shitload of people walking along the sidewalk. In the span of fifteen minutes, three people walked by when, usually, no one crosses in front of their house all day.

Why the hell can't they stay away? I get that they're cooped up, but they need to fuck back off to their houses and jog in place. Get a fucking treadmill.

One of the most disgusting things I've seen. 6 months is suicide for businesses. I know about 6 people already who have lost their businesses, will lose their homes and are so in debt, they have no idea of what they'll do.
There's no need for any of this. This comes after Myer is shutting its doors, "standing down" its 10,000 employees.

Suicide rates are already set to skyrocket. Beyond Blue (mental health charity) have seen their demand in the past week, over run it's highest peak demand. People will lose everything in this.

I guess it's "worth it" to have the lives of the many destroyed/wiped out to save the lives of the few. They could have just put on more nurses and hospital beds and it would have been cheaper and less deadly then killing off millions of jobs - jobs that will never come back.

So to shield the economy we have to destroy the economy. What a country.

Governor Lamont in Connecticut had the same decree. I don't see anyone following or enforcing it though. I don't even see how you could, so many New Yorkers work in CT and vice versa, the two states are strongly intertwined.

And now Rhode Island is quarantining and stopping anyone from New York:
You know, fuck it, I'd tell them to piss off, deliberately break any house arrest quarantine and do the jail time because they would have to give me three squares and a cot. Then I'd sue the state for a few million.

I'm mighty tempted do it since shopping for food is a nightmare and I could use a few million.
