Wuhan Coronavirus: Lockdowns, Quarantines, Cancellations

I really hope this pattern continues. Fuck New Yorkers. If it is so great there, stay.
They are running from the nightmare they voted for.

If they just came in to town and hid away in their rental property that would be one thing. But the problem is they drive up here and the 1st stop is the supermarket where they all pile out of the car and go shopping. Touching and coofing all over everything while they panic buy everything on the shelves. Then off to the parks and playgrouds because there is no nanny state here to tell them to break it up.

And the funny thing is if they DO get really sick they would have been better off in NYC. There will be 30K ventilators and massive field hospitals in their city set up to deal with this there. The little hospital here is not even be a level 3 trauma center. They seem to airlift anything worse then a papercut out.

I'm offended even though I'm from California and not really a rabid "I love New York" spreg. It had a few good years when Giuliani was mayor and then it went downhill. Again.

You know what, fuck the pushy, loud and inconsiderate New York fags, they ruin everything. Throw them in jail.

No no dig up!!

You're okay Ms. Supremacist. We'll let you past the gate after you pass the appropriate medical checkpoints. Your cats can come too. :feels:
But I don't want to go to Rhode Island, Connecticut or Florida, I want to go back to the Sierras and stay in a cabin away from everything except my cats and Kiwi friends. 😽

You know, I think the lock downs in big cities in this situation are probably justified, but now that the cherry has been popped they're going to be more willing to lock everything down in the future, especially if they introduce some form of cellphone tracking like they have in some places. Riots after a hockey game? Lockdown. Active shooter? Lockdown. A G7 summit and they expect big protests? Lockdown.

Countries like America and Canada as opposed to European countries are so vast they cannot possibly control the behaviour of all those living in more rural areas. If you don't get the fuck out of big cities like Chicago, New York, Toronto and LA after all this you get what you fucking deserve. I'm not even talking a cabin in the woods up in the mountains, but the outskirts of a city with 50,000 people where you still have a quarter acre of land or so and access to woods and lakes and stuff. You still have some economic activity and department stores and grocery stores, but even a place like that if it's locked down governments do not have the resources to stop you from walking in the woods or going fishing or whatever. Leave your cell phone home and the population density is low enough no one knows you've even left your house.

People make the argument that the best jobs and services are in the city, but I'd argue you're completely exceptional if you subject yourself to getting culturally enriched, the hoards of homeless people and living under the government boot for filthy public transport that's unpleasant to use, 24-hour Afgan restaurants and some extra Federal Reserve Fun Bux if you're one of the lucky ones who actually rolls a 12 and manages to land a six-figure job. Housing and land is dirt cheap in rural areas and most other shit you can get for free or cheaply online or buy used on the cheap locally. We're at the point where you can build an entire library of books DVDs from online classified sites and pick up something like a PS Classic or Raspberry Pi and install thousands of games for under $500 total and have enough to keep you entertained for years. There's a plethora of free shit on the internet and you can pirate premium shit on top of it. You don't need that much money to live in relative luxury in 2020. Besides, the economy is collapsing right now and this whole thing has paved the way for UBI and has taken a lot of the stigma out of working remotely anyway, so the economic argument for staying in a place like LA or San Francisco will hold even less water by the time this whole thing blows over.

Move to Nowhere, Montana, get any random remote or local job you can that doesn't make you feel like killing yourself, marry the nice girl who's a six or seven who works at the diner and just wants a guy with a job to come along and make her a house bitch, put a couple kids in her and have a big yard take up gardening or hunting or fishing and stop sucking government cock. Don't let them turn you into a cucked, childless, condo "owning" urban bugman who's totally dependant on the state to stay alive.

The media constantly shits on rural areas. They'll tell you everyone is on opiates. They'll tell you everyone is starving. They'll tell you everyone is miserable. Don't listen to them. Most of them are the kind of people who get picked on in rural areas for being faggy or have literally never lived outside the city and they think not making six figures a year and being able to eat at a different ethnic resturant every night is destitute. I've lived in Atlantic Canada my entire life, and CBC has been telling me we're all totally fucked for decades. I've scratched out a pleasant existence. They're only reporting on problems and exaggerating the problems because it gets higher ratings. I know couples who are both making six figures in Toronto and work 50 hours a week who can't afford a house. I know couples in Atlantic Canada who both make $14 an hour in a fishplant for half the year, are on unemployment the other half, and own a house, and get to spend late fall, winter and early spring doing whatever the fuck they want with their time. Who would you rather be?

The same people wanting national lockdowns are mad that their state might actually get locked down because New Yorkers are acting exceptionally, and now those lockdowns from the feds aren’t legally enforceable and won’t accomplish anything medically. WHICH ONE IS IT CUOMO?? The cracks are starting to show and it’s becoming clearer what these lockdowns are really about...

And now Rhode Island is quarantining and stopping anyone from New York:
You know, fuck it, I'd tell them to piss off, deliberately break any house arrest quarantine and do the jail time because they would have to give me three squares and a cot. Then I'd sue the state for a few million.

I'm mighty tempted do it since shopping for food is a nightmare and I could use a few million.

Playing off of a few comments, it seems as if the US government is really trying to move toward regional sorts of lockdowns rather than total lockdowns. It is also just some of my own hopefulness, but at least a few areas could probably get back to work as long as it was locally oriented or reasonably isolated from contact with personnel from suppliers/buyers. Such a move would certainly help and as I've seen in my own area, the people are grateful to get back to work and will do their best to follow the rules to prevent infection and another closure.

Post-production on the Walking Dead's season 10 finale has been postponed. The season will instead end on April 5th with the 15th episode while the season finale will be aired later this year as a special episode.

I can attest to the fact New Yorkers are absolutely and completely re.tarded when it comes to this, especially city workers. By now it may have dawned on them, with people dropping like dead flies, that maybe they should take this shit seriously.

The only to stop them from fleeing to other states is to quarantine the entire place but especially New York City.

Also, why are so many people in debt? Seems like a bad cultural practice. If you can not afford it, do not have it lol. We can live without a new lego set every week, despite CWC's claims otherwise.
Because we are encouraged to be. College Debt, Car Loan, Credit Card, Buying a house 4 times larger than you really need.

San Diego has extended the lockdown indefinitely.

Just finished my unemployment claim, since this means my store's definitely not opening anytime soon. Fingers crossed.
I’m sorry about your situation, but why do they have sign language interpreters for all these conferences? Wouldn’t closed captioning work better?

TL;DR It's not going well. Lots of businesses are trying to stay open. Some people are calling the police because their neighbors are out in the yard. 911 is swamped, and local police say the executive order is too vague.

Michigan's original order was a bit vague and required some digging to see what was and wasn't essential when Governor Whtmer first announced its implementation. For example: "Finance" was listed as an essential field. So, I initially thought our accounting office could stay open (especially with the tax deadline still being April 15 at the time). Reading further, there was fine print that said essential fields were further defined on some Federal web page/PDF file that pretty much listed banks and credit card processors as the finance areas deemed essential with little to nothing else included.

Michigan's CPA board decided to seek clarification from the Governor's Office during the past week with a statement that if the state tax deadline wasn't changing to match the new Federal due date of July 15, accounting firms needed to be deemed essential enough to remain open in some capacity because it made no sense to order them closed through April 12 while keeping an April 15 state tax deadline. The governor finally adjusted the deadline this weekend so that any federal form with a July 15 due date now has the same due date for the corresponding state form.

There's also ambiguity in how the shutdown is to be enforced under threat of $500 fine and misdemeanor charges. Even though nonessential business are to be closed, it still sounds as if it's OK for the owner or other designated person to come to the business long enough to check the daily incoming mail and phone messages provided they don't operate the business and leave as soon as they're done with their daily check-in. As someone else might have posted, all kinds of people seem all too eager to tattle on perceived scofflaws so much so the Attorney General had to tell them to call their local police andnot her office. However, local police -- in order to minimize their exposure to COVID-19 -- have been directed to avoid stopping people for minor incidents and minor traffic stops whenever possible.

Also in Michigan, golf courses, tobacco shops, and bottle returns are now officially closed as part of the shutdown.
(archive #1) (archive #2).

Oddly enough, recreational marijuana shops can stay open 🤔. However, they can't allow customers inside their stores; instead, they have to use curbside pickup or delivery to get the goods to customers.

I hoped this would axe the one world government idea.

Not the other way around.

Loans you only ever use if it is a death scenario here.
The post communist house loans were so predatory, most people know it is better to avoid all loans.

Didn't you say you would be fine with it the other day, you exceptional Hungarian Salami?

In other news - Enjoy the CCP of Perth, West Australians.
You now have drones monitoring you. You completely earned it, voting in a Labor government.

The Premier they voted in?
During his term, McGowan has worked to expand Chinese investment in Western Australia and has criticised other politicians for calling attention to human rights in China.

Nice job!

Nice job!

No I said that I would be fine if the virus killed off globalism and made sure there can never be one government .

I just worded it confusingly and you misunderstood so I corrected that.
