I actually had a hispanic buddist as my psych professor back in community college. He was actually pretty chill, hardcore anti-alcohol lectures aside. Guy also worked a second job as a cop (part of the reason he hates alcohol was because he saw other cops deal with trauma via alcohol), and seemed right wing compared to some other professors I had later, and even came out and said that worrying about politics is unhealthy (which, yeah). Strange character, but he acknowledged that he was, and I can respect the guy for it.
