While that is true, you overlook the possibility of one person having several subscriptions. Like someone who has one sub for regular use (ie. phonecalls), another one for quick mobile internet... maybe one more for coverage in an area that has shitty coverage. Stuff like that.

All I am saying is, that there are so many factors going into this, that while this itself is an indicator that shit hit the fan way worse than what China said, I doubt that you can genuinely deduce the actual number from this data.

You are looking at phone numbers from a Western perspective. It is much harder to get multiple phone numbers in china then it is anywhere else. It'd be like you trying to get a second SS number for signing up to different types of accounts. Unless you run a business, having multiple phone numbers is very rare.

It could be a large number of those accounts belong to businesses, that may be a 3rd option I didnt take into account. But offices would normally have large numbers of landline numbers, not mobile, so I dont know if that could account for the majority.

Am I the only one who thinks the quarantine will have worse effects than the virus? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's not necessary or trying to downplay anything. But just by looking at the economic damage so far, I can't see things going back to normal when this is all over.

Yeah, one thing to remember [and if we haven't learned it by this point in all of this bullshit, when will we?] is that people are really fucking short-sighted and all too willing to attribute something caused by ignorance to malice.
