Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

This doesn't have anything to do with CG per-se, but it does involve the mainstream comics industry and its descent into utter insanity (and possible bankruptcy).

Would it make any difference whatsoever to collect all these woke-fueled and spergy hot takes from Antos, Kwanzer, Marz, Slott, and probably ten or twenty others, print them out on actual hardcopy, and mail them to TPTB overseeing these comic companies; IOW, the people OVER enablers like Amanat, Cebulski, and Lee - the true bosses of these people. Make them aware of how much contempt their "pros" have for the consumer and wait and see if the suits issue a response. Does anyone think that that might get these corporations' left and right hands on the same page?

The real boss of these jokers happens to be Disney corporate, the people bringing you the new MCU phase 4: WOKE!.
The people who are bringing you the irritating Brie Larson as the new leader of the Avengers, Jane Foster as Thor, an angry sex negative feminist take on She Hulk, Ms. Hijab the series and shoe horning Ms. Marvel and Amercia (space-beaner-dyke) Chavez into the new Dr. Strange movie and last but not least, team 'stunning and brave' The Eternals ...... so, yeah, I wouldn't hold my breadth for a positive response to that....

You STILL got paid and praise despite the ugly art, crazy stupid writing (which isn't her fault but even good art can make bad stories tolerable), awful sales AND got a fucking Eisner for it.

Emphasis mine. If it's any consolation, the Squirrel Girl writer, Ryan North is a worse cultist, they haven't limited themselves to merely shitposting for profit. They used to run Project Wonderful and toward the end was pretty active about deplatforming those who offended the screeching harpies of the cult.

No help is coming.
Help as in some other countries help
Do you know what happened to video games 40 years ago?

If you're looking for a company like Nintendo to come and save the comic book industry, I have bad news for you... The Japanese are already here and they aren't saving western comics.

In the last two decades the manga market has FAR surpassed the western comics market, typically in the form of trade paperbacks that skip the "traditional" direct market of western comics. Barnes and Nobel has become been the defacto "comic book store" and small independent shops are screwed.

I mentioned before that I stopped paying attention to the US indie small press around the early 2000's; That is because manga replaced them in my pull box. Waldenbooks and eventually B&N replaced the comic shop for me.

Do you think manga would completely dominate the comic market?
Then what about european comics, are they just niche fillers for americans right now.

Doug took offense to it because he's delicate of the anus.

You call him a delicate anus yet all of your streams were crying like a little high schooler who got rejected at prom about how he "stabbed you in the back" and made fun of his cancer diagnosis. You are the biggest snowflake than the snowflakes you make fun of, most of the streams you did before diamonds shutdown (guess what DC and Marvel will stick around longer than will ever be, I doubt CG will make it for 10 years🤷🏻‍♂️) are 6-hour therapy sessions how Doug, mike, and Edwin "stabbed you in the back." Doug hasn't talked about your existence since the nick stream but you keep talking about those 3🤔

So, new comic book day....its interesting.

in the mainstream

The big book is Batman Adventures continued. Written by Alan Burnett and Paul Dini and drawn by Ty Tympleton. It's digital. I'm not really happy about this. It's only six issues, it's main purpose is to make new figures for the still popular toy line, and there going to force Jason Todd Red hood into continuity because of course they are.

Aside from that, theres a smattering of digital books, nothing big or marquee because have to pretend that comic shops aren't dead!

In CG...

Richard's picked up pace. He has a bunch of good reviews from newish releases a week ago and a video praising Mags of all people.

Frog snore stream.

Typical e-thot behavior.

Notable guests was Fraga. He's become a perma fixture. So now you have Malin, Fraga, Poulton, lot of Liefeld acolytes in CG. Wonder if people will pick up on that thread.

Fucking weird ass puppet show from Doug Tennapel.

I made the mistake of looking at Mike Miller. Edwin cut his hair.

In non CG

Keyfabe's head up ass watch, week four of the comic industry melting down. Let's talk about 1994!

Anyone remember the whale? She's releasing one video a week, her most recent one! its barely longer than a minute.

Then what about european comics, are they just niche fillers for americans right now.

I remember reading several articles crowing about the numbers manga is getting in the west, while seeing other talk about how fewer people seem to care about western cape-shit.

Anecdotally, manga has been taking over in my bubble. Friends may have showed interest in the Marvel movies, but that didn't bleed over into interest in the current comics. At least one X-Men fan-girl I know follows the comics just to hate-post about it on Facebook at this point.

European comics have always been a blip on the radar, in my experience. Which is sad, because there's some good stuff out there.

I don't think manga will completely dominate the entirety of US comics, but I see it taking an increasingly larger share. I can definitely see the decline of the big two, DC and Marvel, as they transition from comic book companies to corporate IP management firms. I can see the "direct market" dying, with your LGS and small comic book shops diversifying or shutting down. I'm pretty sure the only comic shop we have left in town primarily bills themselves as a "toys and collectibles" store, and the only LGS that's still open was doubling as an internet cafe last time I checked.

While I was writing that, someone made one of my points for me:

Like I said, they're IP management companies, and comic shops are dying.

1980 saw the release of Pac-Man, which was so popular that it caused a shortage of 100 yen coins in Japan.

It depends on what you mean by European comics. The Franco-Belgian bande dessinées are terrible. Italian and Spanish comics are better, but you'd still need someone to curate titles like the weebs (ex Frank Miller) who first brought manga to the US.

The additional problem is that, unlike manga, you don't have cartoons to drive interest to eurocomics. (the exceptions being shows like Totally Spies, Winx Club and The Miraculous Lady Bug which have had comic tie-ins in their countries of origin)

Someone has no concept of supply and demand.

I mean people still watch the movies, buy the toys and play the games🤷🏻‍♂️ most of these cgers talking about they are done with marvel, star wars and dc but the first to buy a thousand rose tico figures, Batman Figurarts, go to the movies opening night and get the collectors editions of a arkham or the new avengers game. So I know supply and demand, they have been saying marvel and dc will die for 2 years yet they still buy merchandise from these "dead" brands.

Maybe but i don't want Ethan to dramawhore when he gets a illness and people make fun of him making clickbait stream saying "CoMic ProS waNt mE To dIe".

Today, The Comic Shops' Direct Market Was Saved
Posted on April 1, 2020 | by Rich Johnston | Comments
Bleeding Cool has been reporting widely the effect that the current coronavirus pandemic has on the comic books industry, specifically the direct market comic book industry. We have seen comic shops shut down under government mandate and fear of infection. Comic publishers pull back on their publication schedule or stop publishing entirely. The direct market distributor, Diamond Comic Distributors shut its doors to new product, make people redundant and stop paying publishers. But today, that all changes.
Over a week ago, we gave one modest suggestion. That comic shops might be able to sell digital codes for comic books through their websites. Redeem them for print comic books later. Maintaining the weekly reader buzz without sacrificing the physical and collector mentality. We were told that the bureaucracy behind such a plan would be untenable. Today that has all changed too, and it appears that the right people have been working on this for some time.

I have been speaking to Stu Colson, owner of comic store Heroes for Sale of New Zealand, and of ComicHub, the point of sale management software for many comic book stores. They have been talking to a lot of stores and a lot of publishers about getting just that kind of system going.
Publishers can already post preview pages for upcoming titles for the existing ComicHub customer tools. When customers register their account, they link with a physical print store. Which means stores don't need even their own website. Customers order comics, receive them digitally and then redeem them for the physical copy at their comic book store at later date. Adding a shopping cart means that publishers, creators and stores get paid. That means there and then, without having to wait. Even Diamond can get paid in advance for that physical distribution as and when printing and distribution returns. This is a major game-changer for a comic book industry, under shutdown.
ComicHub usually takes time to be installed inside a comic shop. Given the circumstances, they have pared back the standard tool, costed to work online for every comic book store on the planet. ComicHub doesn't even need an existing website to work within. Stores register customers and control that data, not ComicHub. The company has also pulled the app from iOS and Google, so as to prevent any existing ComicHub clients from pro-actively stealing customers of other stores. They even cover international exchanges of currency.
ComicsPRO and ComicHub
Stu Colson has put his considerable resources behind this solution and they will be rolling out a version gradually so as to stress test the system. On the eighth of April, they will run the new system out across their existing hundred stores. On the ninth, they will add stores from the ComicsPRO activist group. By the tenth, they will add two hundred more They want to add every store in the world by the twelfth of April. So by Wednesday, the fifteenth of April, they will be able to run a full direct market of comic book stores, using digital and print, whatever system of lockdown we will be in at that stage.
ComicHub has been talking to all major comics publishers to achieve this and it will also cover the two or three missing weeks the direct market has experienced since the coronavirus pandemic set in. While it is unfortunate that today's date is rather notable, this is not a joke. This is, for want of a better phrase, the saviour of the direct comic book market.
Our Last, Best Hope for a Piece
I am aware that some stores will see this as a way of driving their customers away from print and towards digital. However, if the last ten years has taught us anything, it's that traditional comic book readers prefer print. And right now, not being able to choose anything will doom hundreds of comic book stores and take down a few publishers along the way. This is a chance to preserve the traditional direct market of print comics to stores. I hope the right people seize the opportunity. You can follow what effect the current coronavirus pandemic has had on the comic books industry with this tag.

Ol Rich has been busy today and also decided to dedicate an article to EVS for dunking on pros with #PENCILSDOWN https://archive.is/utY4Q

So joking about someone's cancer is "fun" i think daddy raped you all if you are this deranged and psychopathic🤷🏻‍♂️ Marvel and DC will never die, Cg will and you go crawling back when the igg pittybucks runs dry.

Frog is an evil sonuvabitch. Took me a while to figure it out. No point in arguing with him at this point. Just document when he does or says something and move forward.

Went on Dan Slott's twitter. For funsies.

Nothing about shops, or no new comics. Want to no what he tweeted about? Trump. I had to go all the way through dozens of tweets to get him talking about shops or comics.

Al Ewing posted a shout at least.

but it was mostly about him.

Tom king was willing to say recommend you buy Walt Simonson Orion TPB at your local shop, most of them are in urban areas and are closed.

And Bendis? his pinned tweet points people to comixology for his creator owned stuff still, despite everything happening...

I went and did this out of curiosity. This is a historic moment. For the first time in most peoples lives there are no new comics coming out. I wanted to see what the big name talent, the ones who hold the creative reins for DC/Marvel had to say.

Pathetic.

Henderson, you may not have gotten into comics for money or acclaim but you still got it despite EVERYTHING you've done.
It's a massive lie, see how they put EISNER (or EISNER nominated) on everything they do.

Fake holiday is sad that CG have been mocking his industry dying and wants everybody to just ignore CG

Coronacomics collapse update:

EVS is out settling scores with rando colorists and Rich Johnston. I think, going by the somewhat unfocused and reactionary nature of his streams lately, actually achieving some sort of victory so suddenly has caught Frog a bit flatfooted,. Just like everyone else. If Comicsgate, against all odds and in spite of most of its members, actually succeeds in it's mission - the question must be asked: what happens next?

Gail Simone or her husband is spending quarantine fighting Just Some Guy with a sock puppet account and calling him racist for mocking hapa Bruce Wayne on Gotham High after he made some video about her being a petty, bitter, treacherous piece of trash.

ThatUmbrellaGuy is hilariously in the fight of his e-life against notorious anti-CG sped Comic Book Hut, along with some weeb just learning video maker being fed DMs by some other weeb named SenpaiIsHome. It's only going to be a couple of days at most before TUG starts wailing about how CG abandoned him to get curbstomped by fucking Comic Book Hut instead of rallying to his defense. Detail is of course available in TUG's own dedicated thread.

Finally, just for you guys:

>tfw you move to Europe to fight the brown invasion abroad but leave your neglected newlywed wife to the brown invasion at home

He wants people to hit ignore on CG now after they've raised literal millions of dollars instead of when it was just guy making videos on his phone. Too late for that bucko, you helped feed the beast and now it's too big to ignore.
