Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

The trick is they don't want Corona-Chan on the Comfort. Because it's a total bitch to get off. The Comfort is there to service non Corona related Medical needs. Emergency Surgeries, routine Heart Attack etc.
They have to go to the hospital first and get tested. To the hospital which is falling apart because of all the coronavirus cases. In the ER, which, again, is falling apart because its filled to the brim with people about to die and gasping for air. Nigga who going to test them? They also have a long list of at least 45 conditions they won't treat so again, I ask, what the fuck are they even doing there?

I'll admit Wyoming's order has me perplexed and Missouri's lack of one has me also perplexed

I simply don't understand why entire states must be placed on house arrest. Smarter just to lock down the hot spots. But when you have no worries about your next paycheck, there's no reason to consider the people who need to work to feed their families.

Once again, we are not "all in this together". If that were true, there'd be rather more common sense used. As always, it's the old "us" and "them".

Cloth masks plus distancing should be used.
it appears that, like most viruses, the initial load you’re exposed to has an impact on how serious the infection becomes - a few viral particles allows the immune system to react and get on top of it better than being exposed to a massive initial exposure.
So while masks don’t stop it, masks plus distancing should expose at lower levels, which increases the chance of milder infection, recovery and immunity

Isn't it partly out of concern that people would then flock to those areas, bringing their undiagnosed WuFlu with them?

You don't need a Nuke to end the CCP. One or more conventional Bunker Busters would do the job. When applied in the correct point on the map.
Bonus! It would sweep all the virus and live markets clean and dissinfected. So Hygenic!

Would this really be a punishment though? They have a long history of destroying their own dams for stupid reasons. Most recently in WW2 to try and stop the Japanese but they ended up killing 500-900,000 of their own people for a negligible number of nips.

Not a bad question. Many of the "cleaner" areas are rural or otherwise sparsely populated. But in this case people would be at work and schools in session, so wouldn't expect a whole lot of people heading for those areas.

State of Alabama update, tired as hell edition:

Some more changes have been made to the ADPH WuFlu status page. Deaths are now being separated between "Reported Deaths" and "Died From Illness."
Reported Deaths and Died From Illness on the dashboard represent the number of individuals who have a positive lab result and are now deceased. To count a person who died from COVID-19 disease, the medical record of the deceased person has to be reviewed by a physician and Infectious Disease and Outbreak staff. Once review is complete, if the death is attributed to COVID-19, the individual will also appear in the Died From Illness on the dashboard. Reported Death totals are cumulative and will never decrease.
Not sure if other states have also done this, but it seemed like an interesting move in light of how much we've discussed reporting methods in this thread so far. With that in mind, the current numbers across the state look like this. I think both numbers are worth including when I post any sort of update, but the "Died From Illness" number is what I'm going by as my preferred metric for Chinese Virus™ deaths.

1,270 Confirmed cases (+423 since March 30)

8,619 Tests processed (
+2088)

32 Reported Deaths, 17 Died From Illness (
+11)

I'd like to get back to daily postings instead of this chicken shit intermittent stuff, but I'm trying to actually read the thread. My hat's off to the folks like @Ellesse_warrior and @weedsneaker13 who are combing through and archiving all sorts of stuff that wasn't archived first time around. Every once in a while somebody mentions how this thread turned out to be a valuable source of info, and that's awesome. Archiving is a big part of that, especially as time goes on and shit gets changed or outright removed from the live web.

Did any canadian kiwis happen to catch health minister Patty Hajdu's comments on China being totally honest and trustworthy?

That, plus these are military doctors. Their typical patients are soldiers, who are generally young and otherwise healthy. The majority of covid patients are older and have other sorts of underlying conditions that aren't typically seen on a battlefield. From what I've read the Comfort would have to be more or less completely reconfigured to be able to handle pandemic cases.

Heeeeeyoooooo. Spain news time. So honestly now most people are fairly sure as soon as we keep this thing under control we're going into export trade war against china. I mean, at this point we've practically unofficially gone into war economy, so it's the logical next step. Kinda hilarious that while everyone else freaks the fuck out about lack of jobs spain seems to be salivating at the job opportunities. Guess it comes with being so much time in crisis, you get used to everything.

We also got a chink fuck that decided to try to get rich by selling fake ozone generators that were literally just boxes with covers stuck on them. The cops paid him a visit. Making his country proud! I swear I am not gonna feel bad about the growth of racism against chinks, not for a single second.

We also got a gypsy galaxybrain that decided to post on internet a video teasing people by insulting them while being on the beach, the cops also paid him a visit. Protip! When you break the law. Don't post it on the internet!

Our cops are starting to fall due to corona. I think it's 1 Mosso and 3 civilian guards now. Feelsbadman.

On other news a family member managed to catch this graph on TV and sent me a photo. So. Seems we're now clearly on the recovery part of the curve. Ladies and gents this has an end!

(Blue line is recoveries, red line is internments. So long as blue line is on top of red line the hospital system won't collapse. We're finally there so long as we don't have a new deluge.)

On more local news. I'll see if I can find a video, but even if I don't: there's a flock of dolphin's that's decided to settled on the bay of cadiz. They're cute AF. Most of the bay is unindustrialized so I hope they can stay once this is done.

And finally meme for the day:

Yeah, some locals near me were arrested bc they were in bush-like costumes to try and get to the beach (guess they were inspired by this or the event in UK?).

What a lot of people don't realize is that unnecessary lockdowns can make things worse since it requires economic aid to go to places that shouldn't need much, if any. This can, in turn, lead to fewer resources going to areas that need more support. At the same time though, it could be that some states are trying to "get it while the getting is good," since you have some states like New York acting as if they need every scrap of resources available, which in the long run could lead to other states getting screwed over.
