Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Avar Kriss looks too much like Kathleen Kennedy, and her bio screams Mary Sue. Will have to wait and see if that's the case later this year.
10 years ago her biography would have been the most obvious setup for a fall to the dark side ever and we would have rolled our eyes at the predictable writing, but in 2020 I just have to assume they're gonna play her completely straight for the sake of "representation" and "empowerment".

I really wish the High Republic stuff had happened pre Disney buyout. I find the concept interesting. It's legit an interesting time period we only see hints of at the start of Episode 1.

Show the Republic right around the time corruption, rot, and staleness set in. Show it begin to decline to the point where the Trade Federation was able to petition for full membership, jam up oversight, and spread corruption. Show the mid and outer rims growing disenfranchised. Possibly show the Jedi Order get more dogmatic and ivory towering.

Palpatine being able to exploit the Naboo situation to get a sympathy Chancellor vote didn't just come out of nowhere. Palpatines's ten years as Chancellor along with the Clone Wars were just the roof finally collapsing after a long period of decay.

Edit: Hell, by all rights it SHOULD be the point where the Sith of the time really start pushing behind the scenes. Palps was just the culmination of it all coming together.

as interesting as it could be, personally not a fan since they'll fuck it up. republic is 950 years old at that point, why would it suddenly turn to shit after all that time? slow rot till it breaks is much more logical and tragic than "evil sith god schemes" they'll probably gonna go with, retconning why shit hit the fan in the first place. I want more cyperpunk-dystopia atmosphere than evil machinations of sheev wannabes.

I can't exactly mark agree on your post...

FFG had 2 Star Wars card games - the LCG and Destiny which was the CCG style.

Miniatures wise it has Xwing 1.0, Xwing 2.0, Armada, Imperial Assault, and Legion. So you've got to be a bit more specific.

As for your coop question. Arkham Horror was released in 2016 (and is kind of a reboot of the old "Call of Cthulhu" LCG). LotR was released in 2011, Marvel Champions was released in 2019, and Star Wars... was released in 2012.

Yeah their coop games do well, but there was hardly any sign of that back when SW came out. Plus "Light vs Dark" has been a part of Star Wars games since way back during the Decipher game. It's just obvious as some players are going to want to be Darth Vader.

destiny was a collectible dice game and always felt more like it competes with wizkids' line of dice games (considering how long those have been going there seems to be some demand for it). doubt it even has the same demographic.
the latest miniature game is legion, assumed the comparison with runewars miniatures made it clear. the other sw games are either much older or more self-contained.
CoC LCG was competitive and can hardly call it a reboot when they have been using lovecraft for almost ever, it's certainly no arkham third edition. the star wars card game was released during a time where they already had a few LCGs out. even CoC was still going at that point and lotr was just released (and was crazy popular making loads of dosh. can't find the 2012 in-flight report but it's specifically mentioned in the 2013 one), so it would've made sense to make it coop to grab that market and compete less with all their other LCGs (and standalone card games). remember, frigging netrunner came out the same year. felt even warhammer conquest had a bigger impact for the time it was alive than sw.

light vs dark.. true, but knowing FFG they could've milked that even harder this way. least it would be a good excuse for once to make you buy 2-3 starter boxes.

Nah. I believe this was made on the fly like the other Disney trilogy films.
I love how this lie from a dying shill site came out after it was revealed (quite blatantly mind you) that no, this was bullshit. Plan IX's script was rewritten every day through most of its production.

Like shit man, you can't get asses to pay for it in these viral infested time, why even bother.

As for the High Republic?

I'd have just a shade of the corruption be there, a small amount. Mainly in the form of the chancellor actively struggling to listen to each and every world that petitions a problem to the point you see them burn out, and you start having votes just get deadlocked by the sheer inability to get all these planets with different needs and values to agree decisively anymore.

You also start getting some corrupt business bribing people, but it's small and you only see them on a smaller scale during this time, mainly bribing a senator or nobility usually.

So you see the shades of greatness, but also the trace of how it all ends.

The Latest episode of Tcw was so pointless, they escaped the pykes to only be recaptured again to elongate this arc into four episodes. I just want them to get to Siege of Mandalore already, I hate that we lost some awesome arcs for this crap.

Its possible considering Coke, Dasani and Porsche are a thing now.
I knew Coke and Dasani became canon thanks to this megathread. I must have missed where Porsche became canon. I guess someone thought it would be a good idea to sell Porsches at Tosche Station or something. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, you know, even her struggling with the Dark Side would be a better theme. Like that scene where she mind controls the stormtrooper? Could have been instead her breaking her restraints and accidentally killing him in anger. Make Luke point out that she has a lot of ego, show how she has to train and mediate on herself to do things the jedi way and not like a reckless impulsive force user. Show that she struggles with the easy way.

I want to expand on that, but I'm out of motivation to write it out.
This is more than enough to build on and extend. Rey has no intention of killing the trooper in her attempt to break free, but bonding with Kylo also gives her his darker tendencies with the Force. When she meets Luke, he initially has no desire to teach anyone after his self-imposed exile, but he senses what's happened to Rey and realizes he has to train her to help her overcome the temptation to go dark with the Force and keep her from making the same inexperienced mistakes he did when he was younger.

A good start would be the complacence that comes with the lack of any sort of serious threat and nothing more serious than ordinary crime. Unknown to anyone, Palpatine has slain his secret Sith Master and has started to formulate his plan to gradually take over the galaxy over the next two decades without anyone suspecting a thing. Meanwhile, the other events you mentioned start to take place which makes it easier for Palpatine to stay under the radar and detection by the Jedi.

Unfortunately, the fact there was too much extraneous political details at times in the PT has soured fans on seeing more of it. Some of that is justified and understandable. However, the right balance of political background mixed with the era's complacence and corruption could help provide more of the story behind what help lead Palpatine to the chancellorship and complete his plan for galactic control and domination.

Sadly though, Disney probably wouldn't be able to tell a good version of this.

There's no doubt she was a mandate from Kathleen Kennedy, I can't wait to see how they'll justify Ahsoka teaming up with Bo-Katan, the same bitch who burned a village of innocents and slapped Ahsoka's ass.

I edited it to look more like poop, but her hair looks like a literal turd even without the edit.

They'll just reuse the enemy of enemy is my friend trope for the fourth time and that somehow redeems a character. Hondo Ohnaka was willing to murder children and sell Ahsoka to a necrophile, but was easily forgiven the next episode because the separatist attacked his base. I wished they sicked to the slimy evil pirate trope, because pirates have been romanticized to death.

It was for this weird publicity thing Disney did with Porsche to promote IX by having Porsche design a Resistance ship called the "Triwing" which was just a Y-Wing cockpit mixed with a jet plane, a rear end that resembles the front of an X-Wing, and with the interior of a sports car. There were already ships called Triwings so they redubbed it the Pegasus Triwing despite not usually giving a shit about lore. Despite the name it only has two wings. Porsche is depicted as a subsidiary of Incom Corporation which was the name of the old EU manufacturer that designed the X-Wing. People assumed this Porsche shit would be Rey's new ship or appear in some form in IX, but it doesn't appear anywhere at all outside of Disney-Porsche promotions. So what was the point of this? The Porsche wasn't in the movie and its not meant to be a toy or model, and it has no relevance anywhere, so what was the point? The new lore even claims that they're commonly used by the Resistance and the Nu-Republic yet all they use is rehashed donut steal X-Wings, A-Wings and Y-Wings. Then again it shouldn't be too surprising that there's no consistency since the Plan IX comics claimed that the Resistance would be full of old OT, PT and EU aliens, with their second best pilot being a Nautolan, yet none actually exist in the film and all of their existences are contradicted by having other characters that take their spot. Its just more evidence of what little connection there is between writers at nu-Lucasfilm and the fucks at Bad Robot.

This might interest you. (Warning: Excessive Geeky voice)
Short of it is that Disney execs are angry that they won't get paid millions as they promised themselves despite Iger giving up his whole bloated salary and execs only giving up 30%.

Why are the old and good aliens allowed to exist in every other media besides the big screen? They love to throw memberberries at the audience but are somehow so uptight on reusing classic aliens unless it's a member chewbacca.

I heard about this the other day. Do you know if Kennedy got hers slashed by a lot?
If both the Bob's can get their salaries cut, It wouldn't be surprising if Kenndy got hers slashed too. I hope she got some comeuppance for her incompetence and agenda pushing. The filthy rich executives deserve a pay cut as well, most hollywood disasters are often thier fault with lower level employees suffering the fallout. This is the first time in a long time we are seeing karma biting them in the ass.

She’ll probably get laid off with corona.
