If you filed income taxes in the last 2 years and have a live bank account for direct deposit should be deposited by the end of next week or something like that.
From what I can see they haven't given people the ability to update their direct deposit info though.

The moment when the President of the United States calls you a "third rate reporter" live on national television.

Thank you very much, Jon.

They are still working the issue same as with the poors who don't get welfare and don't make enough have to file taxes.
I've heard that they intend to start with the lowest income people they have a live account for and work on everybody else as they clear off work.

I agree with you 100%. All of these idiot pundits who are like “Older people, go out and save the economy because that’s more important than your life” can get bent.

Of fucking course the economy is important. But the economy can and will take hits and come back strong. Lives that are lost will never come back. Life is infinitely more valuable and irreplaceable than money or stocks ever can be.

My dad is 60 and has underlying health problems, but fortunately he’s able to work from home. But if he did take that stupid advice and try to go out and work “for the economy,” I would tell him to sit his dumb ass down and stay inside. My dad’s life is infinitely more valuable and precious to me than money could ever hope to be; I love him and my mom more than anything and I would do anything to protect them. I‘m sure most people would put their loved ones above money and the economy, too.

I also think it’s funny that the pundits going “muh economy, think of the children” are also usually the same people who argue against student debt relief and measures to protect the environment for future generations. Think of the next generation as long as it doesn’t impact the bottom line, I guess.

Well one problem I see with all of this is the trap of binary thinking. This is not an "old vs. young" issue. Many (but certainly not all) older people have medical issues. Being "old" is not a medical problem in and of itself.

Advancing age generally brings about medical problems. As our cells age, they don't regenerate themselves perfectly and that is what makes us look older on the inside and out. However you actually CAN be a wrinkled up granny and look cosmetically like you are knocking at death's door, but inside your organs are just chugging along.

People are overestimating the resiliance of the 25-45 crowd and the 45-65 crowd.

Being of advancing age puts you at more risk than the general population, of succumbing to COVID just due to the fact that statistically speaking, others in your cohort already have something going awry.

However I am cynical about the economy and stuff springing back. I get the feeling that there will be a lot of lives lost due to Corona and other lives ruined and subsequently lost, because of Corona.

Running the service economy on a skeleton crew seems to be saving lives of people who are in the middle of the life-cycle.

I was looking through my bookmarks and came across this video:

It's just the shitty IRS, everything must be done on paper via US snailmail.

You can blame the Republicans for that one. IRS has been begging for more staff and to upgrade their hardware. At a minimum they want to improve their computer system by over half a century and get Windows 95 installed. They will hold out on Vista. Instead they've had their funding cut for the last 20 years.

Btw, if any of you tech types know how to code in COBOL, the IRS needs you

View attachment 1217952 tfw. can't post my own country numbers and exceptionalism, since it would be powerleveling. like and upboat, if you are facing the same dilemma. Picture related - this is me IRL,100% certified not lies.
My 5 year old son found this very funny.

Thank you for cheering us up. Kids are taking ok to isolation, but something a little bit different helps ...

But of a PL but whatev.

Sure, because if those assholes had better computers then cutting payments to 130 million people would be easy. Like overnight.

Herdur da republikannnssss conterlled da monies every year for 20 years.

Republikkkannnnssss!

Give it a break.

It's been stated before but Xi must be losing his fucking mind right now - nearly 100k dead across the globe, economies in ruins and soon us Brits might lose our priminister to this horrible blight his citizens concocted.

The guy should just go live in a hole. Or kill himself.

It is far worse than you might think for Xi. Far worse, not that I give a flying fuck for him.

Xi has put a great deal of effort into making China into a great power and future superpower. Now he knows that isn't going to happen. His glittering cities apparently have poor underground infrastructure. Can't drink the tap water. China's medical system is woefully lacking - no primary care system, so everyone runs to the hospital. Doctors who have called attention to the upcoming problem or have criticized his regime's actions re the virus have been arrested, or have just disappeared.

Xi's military has undoubtedly been affected by the ChiCom Flu. Couldn't guess the extent but bet operational and maintenance crews for all Chinese nuclear weapon delivery systems have been locked down for some time.

Xi's economy has been and is taking hits. Taking a while for production to resume. Saw something yesterday to the extent that deficiencies in certain raw material shipments from Africa are also affecting production. Xi can also see an accelerated pullout of certain foreign manufacturers from his country, meaning Chinese job losses. He can also see other countries working hard to develop additional sources for materials and goods China produces. This is on top of the ongoing housing, credit, and debt bubbles.

Speaking of debt, China holds just over one trillion dollars of US debt. Found an interesting article on this subject.

If I owe you a hundred dollars, I have a problem. If I owe you a trillion dollars, you have a problem. Xi has a problem.
He may have underestimated the US economic response to the ChiCom Flu. Xi could be concerned that the printing presses will go all-out and affect the value of Chinese holdings. Or maybe we'll mint one of those trillion-dollar coins and say, "We're paying it off, dude."

This virus has and will affect, to different extents, every country in the world - economically, socially, politically, you name it. And despite Xi's and the CCP's best efforts, China can't duck their actions. They could have let other countries know sooner. They didn't. They could have kept their people from traveling abroad. They didn't. They have made a big deal about selling/supplying test kits/PPE to other countries. Much of the Chinese stuff is no good.

China is also dealing with an outbreak of avian flu, which affects poultry and egg supplies.

And let's not forget the ongoing outbreak of African swine flu. China STILL doesn't seem to have it under control. Pork is China's preferred meat, and the Chinese eat a lot of it. Been

And all this is on top of all the other problems - the Muslims in camps, environmental problems, demographic problems, you name it.

Face it, what China has done, intentionally or unintentionally, re this virus is no less than an act of war upon the rest of the world. Xi knows there will be retaliation of some sort, not military, but in other forms. And I would opine if Prime Minister Johnson dies of this disease, the UK will indeed be pissed. Can see them coordinating or joining the USA in certain retaliatory moves.

Xi is riding a wild tiger, and he has no idea just what will happen next. Glad I am not him.

Yup, planning to change banks after this stuff is all over with. Only reason I've stayed with this bank is the apparent hassle of rerouting my DDs. But I have had enough.

Actually yes. They could just let algorithm do it.

Anyway. If the acting Navy Secretary had hoped to tamp down the Roosevelt controversy, he just failed spectacularly.

NO BORIS!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The real problem with Boris being in the ICU: he's had it for 10 days. It means we don't have a therapeutic regimen that halts progression of the disease.

The UK is going to ensure the best minds get together as far as the PM is concerned. If the best minds have no answer, this complicates a lot of other things, like opening the economy back up.

Let's pray for Boris. If someone can't come up with something, that's the future of the Western economy.

He's trying to figure out how to turn this pandemic to his advantage. Expect even more predatory lending as "aid" and insane territorial claims.

"Petrified" lungs of coronachan's victims.
Black dots due to smoking.
How is that even possible?

Wouldn't you be dead, long before lungs got to that state? How could a person with lungs in that state, been able to breathe and stay alive, to get them there?

National geographic article on how COVID kills you.

Catalogue of Chinese failure

Like in Russia,Xi as Putin isnt a straight up cult of personality dictatorship but he maintains power by benefting their respective oligarchs and party officials.

When that support evaporates they are fucked.NGL dont expect any future chink leadership to be any less garbage, but hey as a nation they will suffer during the transistional period between leadership :optimistic:
