🐱 ‘Karen is a slur’

CatParty

Over the weekend, renowned anti-trans activist Julie Bindel had a thought she decided to share with the internet. Karen, the archetypal racist, classist, and entitled white woman, is clearly, according to Ms. Bindel a “woman-hating” slur “based on class prejudice.”

Some had trouble believing that in the middle of a global crisis this is what Ms. Bindel and her TERF allies were getting het up about. But sadly, yes, the Karen discourse is real and it hasn’t stopped even after several days of it making its way around Twitter.

Karen’s across the internet were in fact quick to agree with Ms. Bindel. Writer Katrina Gulliver felt the need to bring back an old tweet in which she’d claimed that Karen was actually about policing women for asserting their rights in a consumer setting.

However, Karen has never been about that. As screenwriter Camilla Blackett explained so succinctly, “Karen is a catchall for entitled middle-class CIS white women who weaponize their status against the working class and minorities.”. Karen isn’t valiantly asserting her consumer rights, Karen is trying to get someone fired for not accepting an expired coupon—and she absolutely is not oppressed for doing so.

Its an act of incredible Karenness that people are still attempting to argue that Karen is a slur after several days of this, but at least it’s brought us all some great Twitter humor to lighten up another Monday in lockdown.

I've really come to enjoy these "STOP MAKING FUN OF ME RIGHT NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!!!" articles. Nothing tops "'Fredo' is the N-word for Italians!!!" though. That was ridiculous on a slightly higher level than anything I've seen so far. But still, this is all good fun for anybody who isn't profoundly fucking crazy and self-absorbed. I hope it never stops.

Still the best fucking Karen decades counting.

I think this Karen is also pretty good. Remember kids, there are no good or bad Pokemon, only the ones you like.

The irony is that Bindel was one of the OG "be as big an asshole as possible and say the most obnoxious edgelord things I can think of in the name of a cause I dont give a crap about so I get attention and lurcrative writing gigs and speaking tours for being some controversial radical" speds of the old radfem era, so her being violently devoured by the modern evolution of the faux-progressive-faux-outrage machine she helped build is a bit like those old 1950s monster movies where the evil mad scientist winds up being eaten alive by the giant octopus monster he created

Karens gonna Karen.

I pay more attention to my verbiage, interpunction and grammar when i'm insulting people over the internet. How shit can you be at your job? Are there even physical limits to how inept a journalist can be? She writes for a living despite handling the english language in a manner that makes me cringe, and I'm a fucking foreigner who learned the language from cartoon network and Fallout dialogues.

"[Insult] is a slur"
Remember the good old days when you could call someone a faggot, they'd get mad for a short period, and that was the end of it?
It *is* a slur, by definition. Bindel is rightfully complaining that woketards consider some protected classes ok to insult in a roundabout way: by first establishing a universal rule (no insulting anyone for any reason) then carving out exemptions in the definition ("all middle-aged women", "all men except child molestors"). If you want to insult women, go ahead, just don't be a hypocritical faggot about it.

It's the same with e.g. racism and whites: very few colored activists honestly say "it's ok to be racist against whites", they say "racism is always bad" + "you can't be racist against whites". No one comes out and says "discrimination against whites and Asians in education is good", they call it "affirmative action".

So if Karens are annoying middle aged white women, what do we call annoying young white women like this?

I'm tempted by Aimee, cos she pretty much looks like gross tranny Aimee Challenor

All white women raised in middle-class to upper-class suburbs or urban environments are Beckys. I guess the rest are depends on whether they’re urban poor or rural poor, which would be Janeeshas and Maudes respectively.

I left out the 99% of it where it was just links to “tweets dunking on the Karen terf”

Let me illustrate
God bless their pointy little heads. You couldn't slap the crazy out of that woman if you tried.

We're really getting to the poiont of having a huge Gilligan's Island cast of characters in our cultural idioms... Shaniquas, Chads, Staceys, Beckys, Tyrones, Karens. What's the term for thots who ruined themselves by becoming dangerhairs?
