-Schools? Not till the fall at the earliest!
-Big public events? Not for 18 months!
-Vaccine? 18 months, maybe a little less.
-Therapeutic treatments for sick people? Only 4 to 6 months away!
-Asymptomatic cases? Not many of those says Bill!
-Only 1% mortality rate in nations with a functional healthcare system!

"The economy is in the toilet, this is the new normal and everyone should just get used to it. That economy isn't coming back, what kind of magic wand does he think he has that can fix that?"

Boy, that sounds really familiar.

Would be nice to add some spice to this list by adding Taiwan, didn't they warn the WHO of h2h transmission by early January?

Indeed they did. They sent their own people over to China who noticed that medical staff were getting sick, which implies human to human transmission. The WHO ignored them. They reported 'limited' human to human transmission 'mid January' and then walked it back. Finally, on January 20th the Chinese admitted it and so did the WHO.

https://archive.vn/o9EWE

Taiwan said its doctors had heard from mainland colleagues that medical staff were getting ill — a sign of human-to-human transmission. Taipei officials said they reported this to both International Health Regulations (IHR), a WHO framework for exchange of epidemic prevention and response data between 196 countries, and Chinese health authorities on December 31.

Taiwanese government officials told the Financial Times the warning was not shared with other countries.

“While the IHR’s internal website provides a platform for all countries to share information on the epidemic and their response, none of the information shared by our country’s [Centers for Disease Control] is being put up there,” said Chen Chien-jen, Taiwan’s vice-president.

“The WHO could not obtain first-hand information to study and judge whether there was human-to-human transmission of Covid-19. This led it to announce human-to-human transmission with a delay, and an opportunity to raise the alert level both in China and the wider world was lost,” said Mr Chen, an epidemiologist by training who was health minister at the time of the Sars outbreak.

China’s health ministry only confirmed human-to-human transmission on January 20, after the WHO said in mid-January there might be “limited” human-to-human transmission but stepped back from this view on the same day.

As late as January 14th the WHO were repeating the Chinese line that there was 'no clear evidence of human to human transmission'

LOL, look at this

The Tweet was January 17th and got archived twice in January on the 17th and 20th and once in February on the 28th. Then suddenly in March people started to realize the implications of it - that the WHO had probably lied and then it got archived almost every day since then.

Here's the official WHO timeline

14 January 2020

Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove noted in a press briefing there may have been limited human-to-human transmission of the coronavirus (in the 41 confirmed cases), mainly through family members, and that there was a risk of a possible wider outbreak. Dr. Kerkhove noted that human-to-human transmission would not be surprising given our experience with SARS, MERS and other respiratory pathogens.

This is presumably the 'Mid January' announcement

GENEVA (Reuters) – There may have been limited human-to-human transmission of a new coronavirus in China within families, and it is possible there could be a wider outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that can cause infections ranging from the common cold to SARS. A Chinese woman has been quarantined in Thailand with a mystery strain of coronavirus, Thai authorities said on Monday, the first time the virus has been detected outside China.

In all, 41 cases of pneumonia have been reported in the central Chinese city of Wuhan, which preliminary lab tests cited by state media showed could be from a new type of coronavirus, and one patient has died. There have since been no new cases or deaths, Wuhan health authorities said on Tuesday.

“From the information that we have it is possible that there is limited human-to-human transmission, potentially among families, but it is very clear right now that we have no sustained human-to-human transmission,” said Maria Van Kerkhove, acting head of WHO’s emerging diseases unit.

The WHO is however preparing for the possibility that there could be a wider outbreak, she told a Geneva news briefing. “It is still early days, we don’t have a clear clinical picture.”

Some types of the virus cause less serious diseases, while others – like the one that causes MERS – are far more severe.

The U.N. agency has given guidance to hospitals worldwide about infection prevention and control in case the new virus spreads. There is no specific treatment for the new virus, but anti-virals are being considered and could be “re-purposed”, Van Kerkhove said.

With Chinese New Year approaching on Jan. 25, when many Chinese tourists visit Thailand, the WHO called on Thai authorities, the public and holidaymakers to be on alert.

Doesn't sound all that serious. Even though there had already been a case outside of China, in Thailand, according to the WHO's own timeline the previous day.

13 January 2020

Officials confirm a case of COVID-19 in Thailand, the first recorded case outside of China.

What was the WHO response to this? Some visits to China and then convening a committee which said there wasn't enough information and to wait another 10 days. Then a couple of days passed and the WHO DG decided to stop fucking around and reconvene the committee after only 2 days at which point they declared a PHEIC

20-21 January 2020

WHO experts from its China and Western Pacific regional offices conducted a brief field visit to Wuhan.

22 January 2020

WHO mission to China issued a statement saying that there was evidence of human-to-human transmission in Wuhan but more investigation was needed to understand the full extent of transmission.

22- 23 January 2020

The WHO Director- General convened an Emergency Committee (EC) under the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) to assess whether the outbreak constituted a public health emergency of international concern. The independent members from around the world could not reach a consensus based on the evidence available at the time. They asked to be reconvened within 10 days after receiving more information.

28 January 2020

A senior WHO delegation led by the Director-General travelled to Beijing to meet China’s leadership, learn more about China’s response, and to offer any technical assistance.

While in Beijing, Dr. Tedros agreed with Chinese government leaders that an international team of leading scientists would travel to China on a mission to better understand the context, the overall response, and exchange information and experience.

30 January 2020

The WHO Director-General reconvened the Emergency Committee (EC). This was earlier than the 10-day period and only two days after the first reports of limited human-to-human transmission were reported outside China. This time, the EC reached consensus and advised the Director-General that the outbreak constituted a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). The Director-General accepted the recommendation and declared the novel coronavirus outbreak (2019-nCoV) a PHEIC. This is the 6th time WHO has declared a PHEIC since the International Health Regulations (IHR) came into force in 2005.

However despite declaring the PHEIC the WHO's director said that travel bans were not necessary as late as February 3rd, by which point there were 17,238 cases in 23 countries and 362 people had already died. The Chinese representative then took to the floor to denounce travel bans as 'against WHO recommendations'.

https://web.archive.org/web/2020020...-not-needed-to-beat-china-virus-idUSKBN1ZX1H3

“We call on all countries to implement decisions that are evidence-based and consistent,” Tedros told the WHO executive board, reiterating his message from last week when he declared an international emergency.

China is facing increasing international isolation due to restrictions on flights to and from the country, and bans on travellers from China.

There have been 17,238 confirmed infections in China including 361 deaths, as well as 151 confirmed cases in 23 countries and 1 death which was reported from the Philippines on Sunday, Tendros added.

“Because of this strategy and it weren’t for China, the number of cases outside China would have been very much higher,” he said.

Referring to the virus’ spread abroad, he said it was “minimal and slow”, while warning that it could worsen.

Tedros, who held talks in Beijing a week ago with Chinese President Xi Jinping and other leaders, coughed and interrupted his speech to take a drink of water, quipping: “Don’t worry, it’s not corona”.

China’s delegate took the floor at the WHO Executive Board and denounced measures by “some countries” that have denied entry to people holding passports issued in Hubei province - at the center of the outbreak - and to deny visas and cancel flights.

“All these measures are seriously against recommendation by the WHO,” said Li Song, who is China’s ambassador for disarmament at the United Nations in Geneva.

Incidentally, why can't the commies get someone who can speak English properly to act as their mouthpiece in these shit tier international organizations? It should be 'the recommendations of the WHO'.

Incidentally, the WHO chief has just called Taiwan racist

https://web.archive.org/web/20200409152440/https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-52230833

What is being said?

Dr Tedros said he had been at the receiving end of racist comments for the past two to three months.

"Giving me names, black or negro," he said. "I'm proud of being black, or proud of being negro."

The WHO chief said the abuse had originated from Taiwan, "and the foreign ministry didn't disassociate" itself from it.

Knowing Microshaft products, Bill's predictions are likely bugged and everything will return to normal by the fall.

guess italy, USA, spain, britain, france etc all don't have functional healthcare. going through BNO's statistics there's only a few countries with 1% or less, most are between 5 and 10% some even higher.

The WHO keeps sucking spain's cock and it's probably more worrying than the fucking virus itself. Thankfully the comment section of the video, while being a toxic cesspit (as youtube comments always go) is filled with people criticizing the government for their mishandling of the crisis and the WHO over Taiwan. There's even some people that just keep spamming "ASK THEM ABOUT TAIWAN" on every spanish WHO video and I love it.

Archived plus local archive for future reference. I'm curious to see what this enthusiastic cocksucking will turn into.

US has 5 times the population of Italy and still has fewer total deaths with just over 3 times the number of cases.

The National Clap annoys the fuck out of me. It is the worst kind of smug effort-free virtue signalling. It’s the doorstep KONY hashtag. It’s bullshit to allow the emotionally incontinent fuckwits that compose 85% of the UK population to feel that they “showed love to the NHS”.

If you really want to show love to the NHS? If you really want to “help our heroes”?

Text everyone you know who works for the NHS frontline, or has a household member who does. Ask them if they need a loaf or pint of tard cum left on the doorstep. Offer to grab an extra tin of soup for them, or some pot noodles, or some fucking Flash bleach spray.

Text everyone you know who’s elderly, or immunocompromised, and offer to do their shopping. Let the people most in danger stay safer, because the NHS doesn’t need to be intubating any more people than absolutely unavoidable.

Offer to pick up and cash in prescriptions for those people. Help them stay away from GP surgeries and GPs, who are still seeing coof patients in “assessment centres”. Help them away from pharmacies where the brain dead are rocking up with probable coof and asking for “an antibiotic”.

Support proposals to raise the minimum wage for our “key workers”, the poor bastards still stacking shelves and getting screamed at on the tills so that the rest of us are still able to buy booze and crisps. The lowest paid in our society have worked the most hours and been the most exposed throughout this bullshit. Support with your custom those businesses who have taken good care of those workers and chucked them a much needed extra few quid.

But don’t fucking clap like a monkey. The people you are “supporting” are mostly at fucking work anyway.

The neighbours all aborted the National Clap pretty fucking quick when spouse appeared in scrubs and PPE shouting up the front drive, “Have you got the bleach handy? Come and clean me up, the house call I went to is dying”. Fucking clapping isn’t going to help that poor bastard, or whoever will be intubating them in due course.

Well said! I’m still waiting to do my bit, still in out patient. But I heard that staff dealing with +ve patients haven’t got correct ppe. This weekend I’m getting drunk as a wee grumpy skunk, and worry about it on Tuesday. I’ve went through all phases of Kubler Ross, I don’t give af except for my sons anymore

Seems like there was an Islamist stabbing attack in France during the corona lockdown.

The report is kind of funny because it's fucking obvious what happens but it's all about French politicians saying 'please wait for the results of the official investigation.

Basically they let in someone as an asylum seeker, he decided he couldn't live in an infidel country and killed all the people he could. and was arrested praying in Arabic. However, we're still told to wait for the official investigation.

It's also another example of how letting in the wrong people can come to bite you when you're in a crisis.

Apparently he shouted Allahu Akbar when he was stabbing people

https://web.archive.org/web/2020040...u-Akbar-stabbing-two-people-death-France.html

I guess we'll never know his motives...

On the upside, Boris is out of intensive care!

https://web.archive.org/web/2020040...5927/Boris-Johnson-LEAVES-intensive-care.html

His pregnant fiancee shared this, which is kind of heartwarming in the circumstances even if normally I'd made a cynical comment. Looks like BoJo has his MoJo back.

This is really interesting.

Archive of the research

Is anyone else starting to expect that one of the drugs that are FDA approved for another use will turn out to be very helpful in treating coronavirus?
Piggybacking off of this... is anyone else noticing all this medical progress occurring in Europe and the United States? I remember Israel was doing something too.

Did China do fucking anything or are they just waiting for us to figure it out for them? When the vaccine is found or some treatment is created China will try to take all the credit for it.

LOL.
China doesn't research new things silly.
Remember, worst Joo stereotype combined with the worst Gypsy stereotype equals normal Chinese person.

It reminds me of this wonderfully subtle bit in Lord of the Rings which alludes to abstruse Christian theology.

In The Return of the King, there is a profound passage relating a brief discussion between Frodo and Sam, after Sam has discovered Frodo captured in the tower of Cirith Ungol. Sam, desiring some food with which to sustain the both of them, wonders whether there is any possibility of finding decent food in a den of orcs. He muses, “Don’t orcs eat, and don’t they drink? Or do they just live on foul air and poison?” Frodo’s reply could almost have been lifted from the Confessions of Augustine:

“No, they eat and drink, Sam. The Shadow that bred them can only mock, it cannot make: not real new things of its own. I don’t think it gave life to the orcs, it only ruined them and twisted them; and if they are to live at all, they have to live like other living creatures. Foul waters and foul meats they’ll take, if they can get no better, but not poison. They’ve fed me, and so I’m better off than you. There must be food and water somewhere in this place. (The Return of the King, VI,1).”

This passage demonstrates a profound recognition of the essential goodness of all things simply insofar as they have being. Evil has had only the effect of robbing them of some of their being, twisting and ruining them, but it could never have produced them, created them. The good is naturally prior to evil, for evil is only the privation of the good. It has no existence of its own, nor could it be the source of real existence.

The PRC can't make new things because it lacks whatever the real-world equivalent of The Secret Fire.

How can a place that doesn't exist be racist?

Good point. He's just acknowledged they're a state by mentioning their 'foreign ministry'.

The WHO chief said the abuse had originated from Taiwan, "and the foreign ministry didn't disassociate" itself from it.

Don't worry Tedros. I'm sure China won't be fucking furious at you for this serious breach of its One China policy at a time when everyone else is pissed because you've covered up a pandemic to keep China happy and the US just threatened to end funding. I'm sure it will all work out fine for you.
