When the recycle truck comes by on Thursday to empty the blue bin, I guarantee those are going to the same landfill as the general garbage green bin is going on Tuesday.

Fucked as it is, there is zero market for recyclables right now.

Aluminum will still be properly recycled. It takes 95% less energy to reprocess aluminum then it does to process new aluminum from ore, and aluminum is 99% recyclable and relatively easy to separate from impurities, so no matter the price of material the recycled aluminum stock will continue to be cheaper.

Plastic is the major problem, its hard to recycle and expensive. This is why all plastic drink dispensers should be switched to aluminum cans. Fuck plastic. Wouldnt surprise me if scrapyards and the like werent stockpiling as much material as possible for the inevitable upswing in demand that will follow an economy that has stood still for months.

Whatever it is, transparency needs to be had and had now, not later. The NYC Health Commissioner, Barbot, cannot be trusted. A month ago she was promoting Chinese festivals and riding the subway, saying it's unlikely you'd get sick.
Now she says HC treatments are useless/not being used. How can you trust someone like that?

China's mistake of taking all of the sickest people and putting them together in open air wards to cross-infect and create deadlier strains hasn't been replicated elsewhere.

Since we prepared enough to not get overwhelmed, we've been able to isolate cases, which helps prevent that sort of shit.

There's been a lot of talk about demanding the mayor fire Barbot. I don't understand her hostility towards the use of HCQ. No one is going to listen to her after this so she should just leave. I'm betting she'll be forced out, I know a lot of folks on it and none have come down with coronavirus.

I made a post about that here. It seems there were two strains of the virus circulating, in the East it was a strain from Europe/UK that went around. I'm curious as to how virulent those strains might be compared to each other and what mutations it's had since then.
