Better Call Saul

This is how Saul was intro'd on Breaking Bad.

I actually first started watching BB because someone told me Bob Odenkirk was in it as a sleazy lawyer.

How the fuck was this episode so goddamn tense despite the fact that I knew for a fact going in that both main characters survive?

Because, if a story is well told, it doesn't matter if you already know (because it's a prequel in this case) that he gets out of his predicament and, if you're watching it again, if you already know the exact details of how he gets out of his predicament, you should still feel emotions regardless of prior knowledge.

The fucking tragedy of this is imagine you have a woman where if you suddenly disappear and it involves a crime lord, her first response is to go confront the crime lord on your behalf.

You then lose that woman.

Holy fuck what a loser you are.

I'm re-watching the last episode (because what the hell else am I supposed to do on a Saturday night these days? haha) Great episode, but there is one thing I'm not getting about it... Why is Gustavo so much more invested in making sure that Jimmy gets the 7 million back to Lalo than even Lalo himself, or the rest of the cartel, even is? (Gus literally sent his best man to keep an eye on/protect Jimmy, and Lalo didn't do jack shit.) Make no mistake, I get that Lalo doesn't give a shit about Jimmy, that much is obvious... but it is *totally* in Lalo's best interest to make sure that Jimmy safely delivers the 7 million ti the courthouse so he can make his bail, and (presumably) go south, and it isn't like he doesn't have the man power to discretely protect Jimmy while he makes the drop. I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed.

And to be clear, I know *exactly* why Gus went so far out of his way to make sure Lalo got out, I'm just wondering why Lalo himself didn't seem to care as much.

Side note: I can kind of sympathize with her for doing it, but Kim was dumb AF going to see Lalo, *knowing* he was high up in the cartel. *Best* case scenario now, the cartel have leverage over Jimmy/Saul... but either way now, her life is in danger.

And a person who had any sense would take this as a sign from God or some shit that they don't have what it is to be in this business and get out of it. But we know Saul doesn't get out of it. And if anything, this is actually the moment Saul realizes this is what he is, and this is what he does.

So I saw this previous post of yours...
I think he would be so completely wrecked by Kim actually dying that he wouldn't be the Saul we saw in Breaking Bad. So I do think she somehow gets out.
And you could be completely right about that. I will freely admit, I don't know where this train is going...

But let's say the cartel *do* decide to kill Kim, and Saul even knows that they did it. What could he ever possibly do about that? (aside from being terrified until years later, when some -unknown to him- person kidnaps him and drives him out into the middle of the desert... where he spills that he is a "friend of the cartel", and throws "Ignacio" under the bus to save his own skin.)

But that's just a theory, a gay theory.

Well, obviously, he could join up with Fring whose sole reason for existence is revenge against that very same cartel.

It was always questionable in BB whether or not Saul knew about Gus and his true dealings. I credit it to the writing that I had previously heard people ask how Saul was so close with Mike, but didn't seem to know that much about Gus's part in the cartel. BCS has pretty conclusively answered that question for me as of now... Yes, Jimmy met Gus in BCS, but it was in a totally legal matter for both sides. I am actually curious if Jimmy ever finds out that Gus is a drug kingpin in his own right.

However they play this out , I still love this show.

I have to go with number 4. Mike.

#1 is the only one without someone who will murder you just out of boredom. #3 is probably the worst. Pretty much everyone who ever knew Gus or Walt died.

Pre-wheelchair Hector would murder you just for fun though. Post-wheelchair, just stay away from him if he's ringing that bell. And Todd is a straight up psycho.

Marie always got more shit than she deserved, I think. Yes, she was annoying, and was almost but not quite borderline, and she was a fucked up klepto. But she was fiercely loyal to Hank and stood by him no matter what, even when he was being a complete asshole, and would have laid down her life for him. She is the kind of woman you'd want as a wife, issues and all.

Her breakdown when she realized Hank was actually dead was one of the saddest fucking things in the show.

Mike would probably be able to keep everyone in order.

He could probably keep Todd in line. Pre-wheelchair Hector, maybe not so much. Of course he might just kill Hector on general principle.

Also, my personal quarantine house:
Gale Boetticher
Huell Babineaux
Mike
Saul
