Remember the video of Colleen Clinkenbeard saying that one of her first experiences at FUNimation was Chris Sabat humiliating her by taking the audio she recorded for an anime and turning it into a porno? He says that wasn't him (even though she said that was "totally something he would do") and that Colleen has a crappy memory.

I'm sure he had nothing to do with that 5-minute DBZ gay rape fantasy he voiced either.

Chris is just jealous he can’t be Team Four Star.

I guess having power and pull at a company like Funimation means you get to just talk shit about people who are supposed to be your friends/colleagues like saying they have a shit memory without worrying about any of it coming back to you because you know you have power over them and you know they can't do anything about it or to you because you can just Thanos snap their career away.

Sounds like another person with power that's infamous in the media for being inappropriate towards women in Hollywood.

True, Hell he didn't even make a big deal out of announcing that he was Ryze in Lol, people would have loved the hype of having Goku voicing one of the main characters in the game. He doesn't really have too much range and he sounds as bored doing the voice as the character.
Sean also voiced Dr. Crowler from ygo gx. Yeah, I was surprised too.
oh shit, I just remembered Sabat is All Might from MHA. I guess that gives credence to your theory.

Also Yami from Black Clover. And thing is, they all sound the same as his Piccolo voice. I get that some VA have their "iconic" voice sound and shit, but most of them at least try to make their character sound at least little different from each other.

Funi vas don't have range, the only range sabat has is the yamcha voice, the piccol voice he uses for all the strong build characters and the vegeta voice. Funi vas have no range and its pathetic, i cant wait for Sony to pruge the bad apples, those who were quiet about the suit can keep their jobs since i don't think its right to fire everyone, just fire the one's with casting couches and got funi in a lawsuit in the first place.

While that's completely true, I do think that voice does work perfectly for Armstrong/All-Might.

TBH I don't give a shit about the range of a VA. Plenty of VAs have talent without a range. Patrick Warburton uses the same voice for every character. The difference always lies in his performance. Erica Mendez always uses the same 2-3 voices, but it's still effective.

I haven't watched a Funi-produced show in so long because I just don't have time to these days. (that and I heard the MHA dub sucked lol) Maybe one of you guys can tell me if Sabat can act - but knowing you guys, I think the answer is gonna be a flat "no".

The Funimation dub for MHA isn't bad, but there are questionable voice directions (Monica Rial's portrayal of Tsuyu Asui being one of them).

If...BIG 'IF" Sony purges Funi, it will mean they also purged snowflakes overall. Which COVID has provided an opportunity for with little muss or fuss. If there is a problem, you cut the position and such, leaving them little twitter power to stop it.

I think some companies are going to do exactly that. But Sony? Too many in upper management IMO. I think Sony and anything attached, is hosed.

You'll notice with the Funi clique that they're EXTREMELY typecast in their roles because they have zero range, so they have to just grab the characters that 'suit' their voice. Sabat basically always plays the strong rough and tumble middle-aged man because that's his Piccolo voice, Monica basically always plays the sexualized loli because that's her voice (Froppy is a rare exception where she changes her voice some), Marchi plays the slightly comical sex pot because she also has no range (mostly she plays Monica's roles when the anime is too trashy even for Monica to be in it), and even Ian whatshisname pretty much just plays the troublemaking playboy because that's what suits his voice. It's noticeable as he's gotten more 'in' the clique that he's been getting cast in roles that don't suit his voice. (I think he played the MC in Afureta, for instance. Emo Squall wannabe with Whis' voice doesn't really work)

I think the people who mostly get employed by Aniplex have a better range. Liam O'Brien, Maile Flanigan, Yuri Llowenthal, and Crispin Freeman do have their recognizable voices, but they also have enough flexibility to make the same character sound recognizably different at different points in the character's life (Maile notably changes from 'young boy' to 'adult man', despite being a woman) and aren't all typecast into identical characters. Illidan, Archer, and Gaara are all recognizably Liam but don't sound the same.

Ian Sinclair? Hard disagree on this point, at least for me.
I think it's just the direction. We all know Funi doesn't have the best directing acumen. FE: Shadows of Valentia actually employed a lot of Funi VAs. (Ian Sinclair, Caitlin Glass... hell, even Monica Rial was in it)

The Prince of all Saiyans always had to cause so much trouble even when he tries to have fun. I bet you he is reading this thread right now deeply into it on how we exposing him harder with many tweets saved and DMs from Ron Soye being a thing in 2020. He might crack like an egg if he doesn't take a job working at Mickey D's. Feels bad for that man. Press F for the many ass-kickings he gets from Frieza, Cell, and Majin Buu.

Ah, you're right. I totally forget that Ian has his villain voice, because 99% of the time if he's got a role it's his Whis/Magna voice, even if it doesn't suit them, unless it's an actual villain. But that is likely a directing issue, like you pointed out. Same reason why MasakoX can do a much better Goku (and Gohan) if he's being directed by someone else, but he's forced into that shrill parody version because Kaiserneko fetishizes (OG)Masako's version. Or how Lani can do a direct copy of Sonny Strait's Krillin, but they make him do the whiny voice instead for 'humor'. Can't flex your range if your director wants you to just do the thing you're known for.

Main guy from Arifureta was voiced by Matt Shipman, not Ian Sinclair. Same VA as MC from Darling In The Franxx.

Really? Weird. I heard Ian the whole time. Okay, Ian's off the hook. Matt did a poor job of conveying the character, then. That's unrelated to anything on the subject, though.

Not sure if you guys have seen this video or if it was posted here before? But it seems like nearly those that are huge voice actors in anime have never thought of making a studio in their homes. So people like MoRon probably didn't think of a voice actor booth in their homes. It sucks for the underdogs that already lose money even when dubbing one-shot characters that die by a pin of a hat. But for the douchebags like loved to claim Vic is evil and wants him to die of the virus? You guys got no one to blame but yourselves. It's kinda funny that anime dubbing studios didn't think of something like this before the virus was a thing and now might as well work in voicing acting at their homes. So dubbing will take even more longer to come out. But at least we won't see as many new dubs in the foreseeable future knowing the folks that are KickVic vs IStandForVic ongoing battle.
