Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

At this point the most amusing timeline is appeals all coming back. The entertainment that can be gleaned from ISWV disappointment and KV gloating has already all been harvested back in September through December. Now that lawtwitter has gone all in on smugly insisting with 100% confidence the results of the lawsuit and jerking themselves off with being 'always completely right', they've set themselves up for a magnificent explosion should they suddenly fail. We've seen a few mini previews of it with the fee awards and such, but 'all counts reversed on appeal' is a lot harder to spin than 'Vic owes about 250k instead of 1m+'

Plus, if all counts get reversed and the lawsuit goes to trial, the fun of discovery and insane filings will continue on for however long it takes. If appeal fails it probably ends here, and all there is to look forward to is the dirty laundry Nick has, that is just one big shot.

I still don't understand them. They're arguing in their filings, and affidavids they never meant to imply or say that they fired Vic due to the investigation finding him being a sexual harrasser and assaulter.

So why didn't they just comply with the TDMA letter? You know, retract/remove the tweets, or simply clarify it.

Do that, and they were out of the suit right away; and saved potentially 200K. Even if they're still out of the Appeals and keep their TCPA win. Chupp never awarded them all their fees. They're not even appealing his fee decision.

Either way, they just threw money away.

Simple answer: They're banking on most dub anime fans who watch Funimation to follow or at least read their tweets, but not bother reading legal documents unless they're either lost cause ISWV or the choir. They're willing to pay $200k+ just to destroy Vic, because Sabat really, really hates him.

Slightly more technical answer: Sabat convinced Gen and the other bigwigs that the TCPA meant they could do anything they wanted for free, and by the time Chupp didn't award them all their fees it was too late.

The most fun, which will never happen, would be if not only that happens but they also chew out Judge Chupp and throw him off the case.

Well, yes, but if we're talking unrealistic dreams, it'd be pretty hilarious to see at least one of the causes go criminal, so that after all the posturing on twitter the one sitting in the big house, or 'walking away a registered sex offender', is Sabat or Ron.

"It's never RICO... except when it is."

Wasnt it Gen who first mentioned something about TCPA?

I know it was talked about before but it was mentioned there might be some criminal element like extortion or something. I know antitrust and IRS issues were floated around. Or maybe Im thinking of the Meyer case.

I think he got his just desserts when he got obliterated in that appeals election back in March.

The twat didn't even try to get elected. When asked why he wants to be on the appeals court, he just said he was a current judge.

That's it. He actually thought that would get him in; well that and his amaaaazing track record of doing well at trial court.

Fucking idiot lost to a normal lawyer.

He didn't even say he was a current judge. A complete sentence was too much work for him.

"Why do you think we should promote you to manager?"

"Burger flipper!"

What a fucking idiot.

"I have handled cases before all the courts from which the Appellate Court gets cases" is a funny way of saying "My shit gets appealed constantly and the Appellate courts have to fix what I fucked up."

I'm pretty sure "handled cases" just means he's been a lawyer in all the courts the Appellate Court presides over. Though your version is a lot funnier.

"I've been a lawyer in all the lower courts" is a funny way of saying "I don't understand appellate law well enough to bring my own cases before the Appellate Court."

God has seemingly intervened to make Vic's enemies appear ridiculous.

The timing of the virus hitting just as politics were at peak polarization, hitting our economy in just the right spot to cripple it, for nature to paralyze mankind with something we can't control or even see.

Whether God unleashed the virus or nature took the opportunity to feed on the weak, the universe is a strange place.

Sometimes the entire point of your life is to die in a way that inspires someone else, regardless of affiliation.
Knowing full well I deserve the autistic ratings, this entire saga has always been encapsulated by a single quote.
La vie est drôle

Welp we got a week for ty and his team's counter appeal. That or an extension.
It seems fairly likely they'll file for an extension and/or to exceed page limits because they're replying to literal mountains of nonsense from multiple parties.
The only thing I see related to dates is Vic's cross appellee brief (for the fees), which is due the 20th. Don't think there's anything for the appellate replies.

That said, I'm not sure what the "submission date" talks about.
