Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

This thread moves significantly slower than last month since all the doom posters have left. This wasnt everything they dreamed of and they cant take the tide of public opinion changing. It's so much easier to catch up on now.

We NEED to open May 1st. Its getting to the point where Ive stopped caring all together. When I need something, I go out and get it without a second thought. Local people are ripping the security tape off playgrounds and hiking in areas the state "closed" (how the fuck you gonna close 10 acres of wilderness? Fuck off). Rural people are fishing but super pissed theyre missing the spring Turkey season. Im sure people are hunting with no tags. Of course faggy metropolitan politicans dont give a fuck about people on the outskirts who need to hunt and fish to supplement their diets.

The west coast seems close to opening. Local subreddits are seething. The Karens and Boomers want to be sealed in their homes for their own good. I still don't get why scared people can't stay home while everyone else gets on with it. Thats basically how its been here the whole time anyway.

In Canada land parliament is on FIRE and the Conservatives are ripping the Liberal stimulus proposal apart.
The lack of testing, mismanaged criteria for small businesses to acquire loans, and the extension of the lock-down is really getting tense in the house. They decided to extend the lock down in Ontario BY ANOTHER 28 DAYS. Ontario is the second worst hit province in the country, and the Federal projections of death where actually way lower than the real figures that came out; It is tearing through our nursing homes currently, IS CANADA FLATTING THE CURVE? Testing in Ontario has been abysmal, but thankfully they approved the Spartan COVID-19 tests with in the last week or so, so very soon we are going to see a huge up-peak in testing. Right now they are only giving these quick tests in the hospital to medical staff, and any incoming patients. The incoming patient thing is accendotal, my aunt just had surgery this week, and ended up getting the quick 15 minute COVID test before surgery. The community I am in so far has seemed to respect the social distancing protcols, businesses are still shut down, lines at the grocery store now have the 2 meter distance rule, and lines at the LCBO are memetastic that the lines are so fucking long it is insane.
Here is another favourite video of mine that Pierre fucking grilled Freeland over the handling of the intelligence, she in typical exceptional fashion dodged the question.

WE'VE HAD OUR OWN PROTESTS OVER THE WEEKEND and most of the people are being called conspiracy theorists and anti-vaxxers; Despite that some of the points demonstrated about the lock downs are some what valid. Though, the social distancing orders are enforced, and the RCMP and OPP have been fining people for breaking the rules in my province. Ford has handled this crisis the most adequately I would have to say, and I am looking forward to the eventual lifting of these restrictions with in the next couple of months. A lot of the ministers seem hesitant on jumping the gun or quarantine, but it seems to me that from the trends in the infection rate and death rate, safe to say that May is going to be Canada's peak. Testing as stated earlier has been fucking brutal, and it is super difficult to get a test STILL in Ontario. It takes an average of 5-7 days to get your test results back under the current model, hence our remarkably convenient low infection rate. Our infection and death rate obviously will not mirror the US by a long shot, because our population density, also we implemented our lock down measures a week or two earlier than the US. Still I would like to see testing ramped up and the eventual end to this lock-down so I can go back to work.

A lot of people are very angry at the prime minister because his handling of the situation has been poor. Our populace has been watching the American's response in shock, but people in Canada don't understand the vastness of the US, let alone he whole notion of "civil liberties," because our constitution and charter mirrors the bill of rights in certain aspects, but freedoms are limited in Canada. Our politicians by the day are getting called out now by being China-com shills and safe the say this virus has united the right more than ever. Also I see that our take on the hybrid social-capitalist system being some what changed after the Trudeau administration has committed it's terror. I still wish the opposition took their opportunity to take a vote of no confidence, but I think they are just letting Trudeau keep burying his own grave at this point. I wish this Pierre guy was going for the conservative party lead opposed to Sheer, Sheer is such a fucking idiot. If anything the name Trudeau will go down as the darkest era in Canadian history, as much as I despised Harper's dopiness and neo-con tendencies, and China cock sucking. He makes Harper era look like the golden age, despite how much of the China infiltration and resource extraction they have taken from our country. The Health Minister by the day looks worse and is losing credibility more and more, and considering COVID blew up in the nursing homes the way it did, it's safe to say that her position needs to be challenged, and changed for A REAL DOCTOR. All things aside, I am now going to go back in the other COVID thread to rip on Drain doomer train sperg some more, hope his fat ass comes back in for more humor.

You live in Ontario lol. Bro, they are never getting this shit under control in Toronto until either herd immunity sets in or they find a vaccine. You think a couple who immigrated last year, barely speak english and have 17 kids are social distancing? That's like half of Toronto.

Hmm. So we're supposed to take it on trust that he has a government source, that source has a model and that model is sane. Even though the government has said it's not. I normally like Nelson but this is absurd. You can't take a figure like 150K deaths on trust without seeing the methodology and without seeing the methodology you should regard it as bullshit.

Without knowing the best case/median case/worst case figure for deaths with and without the lockdown it is impossible to know whether the lockdown is the right policy.

It's almost like the poll showing nobody trusts the media and the public perception of the media tanking faster than the Titanic is an actual, accurate measure or something.

It's blatant narrative building and results in me just watching the livestreams every so often as opposed to waiting for some cockbag like Fraser to say there's totally no exit strategy and we should all panic. Nelson's part of the now happily purged Tory Europhile faction, so of course he'll make up unknown sources and whatever else he can write to try and embarrass the heavily vote leave flavoured government.

It'd be bad enough if it wasn't blatantly at the same time as Keir Stammer saying we should discuss the exit strategy and now the media can talk about and attack the government blindly on only this sole subject.

I really really want a minister to actually blow up and tell the press they can fuck off and just address the public. Fuck them.

Some wants to save a big sinking Titanic from Corona-chan named the European Union. https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2020/04/might_the_eu_be_the_coronaviruss_next_big_fatality.html

Might the EU be the coronavirus's next big fatality?
By Monica Showalter
Too big to fail? It's not just small business sinking with the Chinese coronavirus, the European Union itself may go down like the Titanic.
That's the cold realistic verdict from France's alarmed president, Emmanuel Macron, who warned of just that in an interview to the Financial Times (subscription only) warning Europe's complacent EU technocrats to start helping Italy and other nations crushed under the coronavirus nightmare, or else.
According to London's Express:
Emmanuel Macron insisted Brussels had “no choice” but to set up a rescue fund that allows member states to share the debt burden of their coronavirus pandemic with richer neighbours. In a scathing assessment of the bloc’s response to the outbreak, he said the EU faced a “moment of truth” to prove whether it was more than just a single economic market. “If we can’t do this today, I tell you the populists will win — today, tomorrow, the day after, in Italy, in Spain, perhaps in France and elsewhere,” he told the Financial Times.
“I believe the EU is a political project. If it’s a political project, the human factor is the priority and there are notions of solidarity that come into play… the economy follows on from that, and let’s not forget that economics is a moral science.”
...and...
“You cannot have a single market where some are sacrificed.(")

? What's going to happen in the summer if people can't go to the beach but they've got the cops hassling them because their three-year-old isn't wearing a facemask properly. Are we going to see riots? Are people going to start shooting at politicians? I hate to sound like a doomer, but I really worry the situation in this country is about to get a lot uglier.
Thanks to 24x7 Netflix and social media there just isn't a lot of anger or testosterone. This kind of lockdown couldn't have been attempted before the internet. Cars would be getting flipped.

I have a suspicion I know who Fraser’s source is, but the figure is now being so widely passed about that there’s more than one place he could have picked it up, so I may yet be wrong. I will say that the methodology is probably a shot in the dark. There is competing modelling happening, for want of a better term, because we don’t have particularly comprehensive data at this time.

I also want to add a note of caution that a lot of this “bUt tEh exTRa dEffz” is frankly coming to public health from 1) those specialities who are seeing a vast downturn in their workload and want to protect their unicorn funding and 2) the charities who need to keep their particular disease front and centre to keep the money rolling in. (I am not speaking about some of the cancer charities, to make that clear. Also cancer patients’ treatment in most areas is rightly being protected from disruption as far as possible)

tl;dr its a semi doomer figure my ex has pulled mostly out of his arse

you know that economic "boom" that has been talked about when the governments re-open? The fear is that if it does re open at once, people will flood shit again making everywhere congested, thus causing a resurgence if we do open cold turkey. Imagine a Boomer panic buying fueled version of stockton without the sex, maybe the drugs though. That's why the 3 phase plan that's in the US right now is a pretty good middle ground, enough to see certain states start up again, but just enough time to cut off any out breaks. because honestly if everywhere was as crowded as super markets are right now, we all would be boned.
That being said I'm not a doomer, but I'm also not full GO TO THE SUPERMARKET WITHOUT PROTECTION BRO LOL. ReOpen shit but have common sense because even if all the shit about it being lung glue aids is false and is just a more intense flu, the flu still is a bitch to deal with if you get sick

Luckily I live far from Toronto, that is such a Liberal shit hole, where all the troons, bugmen, and fags live; That shit is going to burn through that fucking crammed up shit box city like crazy. They got what they voted for, because those fuckers are half the reason are why Trudeau still ended up with a viable amount of control in parliament based on his delegates back in election time in October. 150,000 more!

I was going to wait until things went back to normal but Cuomo screwing us over made it my primary goal, to GTFO as soon as I can.

Same here, I have to look for a phone i can root.
Any other Canuckistans curious about unlocked phones, Staples was selling them at brick & mortar locations, under $100 loonies for an unlocked Nokia.

Oh yeah man, population density is going to end up being one of the big stories coming out of this. Out here on the east coast we're having so few daily infections now it's almost a statistical anomaly.

It's tricky here in Atlantic Canada we're like 90-95% white and your average joe is not so much into the social justice shit, but god damn people here love their gimmedats. So when Trudeau is giving you $350 a month per kid they're voting Liberal. People here like McKay and his dad though. If he gets the leadership, the Cons will get most of the Atlantic Canadian seats. But the whole region only has 32 seats total so it's not like anyone else gives a shit. lol

Where are they pulling tthe claims that "suicide and drug addiction will increase dramtically as a result of a closed economy"? Wouldn't drug use go down due to a lack of money? Sounds like 1970 propaganda shit to me.

When economies tank drug addiction and suicides go up. If you count alcoholism as a drug addiction it's a no brainer, but people get creative. Look at the Russians and krokodil, or locally we've got dirty shake n bake meth.

I've got to admit, this statement threw me. Isn't Canada larger than the US, and has the important city of Vancouver on the far side?
Or so you all just live between Toronto and Quebec and it doesn't feel like a huge place?
Between me and the border of the next province is a 6 hour drive. I think it's 6 days travel coast to coast, and thats if you don't go over to the Maritimes. There is a lot of open space due to agriculture, ranching and Crown land. Some of our smaller towns are hemmed in by these agri lands on all sides, and quite literally have no more room to grow unless they build up.

The cities are filthy Liberal shitholes that are jam packed with all of the New Canadian Immigrants. For some reason they don't want to move out of the cities, where the general attitude is a lot more like American rednecks. We aren't ALL perfidious faggot leafs.

It's fucking great. The provincial government brings in refugees and says "We're going to grow the poplolation" and when their required residency period is up, they all just move to Toronto and catch the coof.

Imagine if you didn't speak english and they dropped you off in Lewisporte where you're literally the only non-white non native english speakers in town and were like, "This is your new home." This has actually happened. The guy painted houses for a year and then noped the fuck off to Toronto.

NEW MEME! Translation "chinese fast tests finally arrived"

God I wish we had that attitude here in the states. The combination of the "trust the system" mentality in school + Journos virtue-signal worshiping the idea of "scientists" that causes STEM'ers here to turn a blind eye to media horseshit.

When COVID first started coming around, I had some colleagues upset because people were blaming snakes as the vector and the media was *gasp* AIRING THOSE RUMORS! And I'm just casually trying to drop redpills about why the MSM is shit to no effect.
Then earlier this month it comes up again when their golden egg prized child NPR (government-funded propaganda) does an article basically defending seasonal snake massacres in Texas, and just the shock and horror that their beloved holy journalist class might share untrue information was entirely new again. But what's sad is I know my gentle redpills will be falling on deaf ears and I already await the next MSM clickbait horseshit that gets my biologist colleagues in a state of shock again

My biggest axe to grind with COVID reporting is the High-IQ "Ackachually" posters (usually white or asian males aged 25-40) who think that (current) deaths divided by (current) recoveries = mortality rate who come to shit up your online & social media posts with their galaxy-brained conclusions

Thing with spain is, unlike many other places, our universities actually care about who gets out of them. Like, STEM is a full oldschool magisterial motherfucking process of unnatural sellection. Practically every classmate I've had that has gone to one of those programs to go outside the country says everywhere else is way more relaxed, and judging by what they send us most of them have to have things made easier for them, no joke Erasmus students over here have quite a reputation for being duller than even the retards like me.

Point is, as a result they teach us a LOT more shit than most, and between those things are stuff like "how to deal with X", amongst those classes are things like "How to handle the economic aspects of a laboratory", "the actual law", "ISO regulations" and "How to deal with a journo", they're not their own matter they're mostly part of other matters. But this last one, "how to deal with a journo", might as well be "why journalists all suck."

The most important originator of the meme is one thing. See, when scientists have a problem with what you told them. Much like forum members over here, they tell you what the problem is, so you can explain further or admit you made a mistake.

When journos don't get a snappy headline, much like trolls, they ask you to repeat without explaining the issue. This is because your subconscious will invariably cause you to explain things more "for dummies" when you're consciously repeating yourself, and they hope this will make for a better looking statement.

Issue is of course better looking statements doesn't mean more accurate statements. So like a fucking intellectual arms race, now they gotta explain that shit to us so we don't get tripped subconsciously and say something incorrect. I've seen people try to defend this practice by the journos as "ok for standardized interviews", but most get the memmo that the journo isn't being honest with you. And scientists don't like dishonesty.

This is where the first meme comes, as knowing of this practice caused since the 90s a meme to arise, said meme being scientists asking others to "explain it to me like I'm a journalist" when they want to say "I did not get a thing of that", this with time has essentially devolved to the point where nowadays many use "work for the news" or "journalist" to mean "fucking idiot", and the memes are glorious btw.

The second factor that has affected seriously is the tendency of journos to grab whatever medicine is being tested and ultrahype it. They literally start hyping that shit when the animal tests START. Whereas we know they're likely to get rejected until after the human tests. So again, being taught how to avoid unnecessary hype being put behind your words causes students to realize... Journos are dishonest. And then we get to the frankenbite, what Potholer 54 explained and the dirty debate tactics they use, for example, to defend "miracle enzimes" and other such bullshit. And you see, yeah they definitely are a buncha lying cunts.

Then you add how much easier their degrees are (because journalism is a shit career everywhere) and how much they tend to push for the radical leftie stupid ass legislation and postmodern bullshit, and you can imagine how much vilw builds up. So at least here in spain, STEM really has a bone to pick with those cunts. And honestly. Every time I try to give them a chance I get reminded why we're correct in doing so!

Might be a touch of the old tism here, but do you think it'd be possible to canonize Li Wenliang as a saint of some sort?

If he was a devout catholic (and recognized as such by the churche's bureaucrazy.) He could be declared a Beato. And then if a miracle is recognized after his death (some cookoo bastard claims he saw his face on toast or some shit like that) he could be declared a saint by the pope.

We aren't ALL perfidious faggot leafs.

That sounds like what a perfidious faggot leaf would say to me.
