Wuhan Coronavirus: Megathread - Got too big

I feel like there is more Hanlon's Razor to this.
I think state governors and city mayors just fucking freaked when cases started spiking and the media turned from "its just a flu, bro" to "THE NEXT BUBONIC PLAGUE!" they all collectively gave a knee-jerk reaction and started closing things down. Now that they committed to the action, they just don't have an exit strategy.

I mean I'm sure there are some galaxy-brained faggots giggling "lol destroy the economy to own Drumpf!" currently in office, but I really think this is more hubris and stupidity than a well-coordinated plot to get Trump out of office.
This wouldn't put Trump out of office, but would help with increasing China's profits. Media is only in on this because they think WHO matters because it's a "major" world organization like the UN. Not bothering to look up the current guy in charge.
Also
I can't resist

We just got a call from my grandpa's very large nursing home, in LA, that despite locking down several weeks ago, they've got two positive inmates. We're debating the wisdom of bringing Grandpa home for a few weeks. Grandpa reports that the other inmates are a little fuzzy on what's going on, and that they're no longer allowed to hang out and socialize in the hallways, as they are want to do, and must stay in their rooms except for meals and set activity times, when they must each sit one table apart. Also, family is no longer allowed to bring food, or visit. Given that the same, notoriously lazy, careless orderlies bath, change, and turn all the residents, I don't see how they can keep the disease from spreading.

A personal antidote, totally for evidence and not sympathy: It's super weird to be like, "Yay, lockdown's probably going to lift soon" and "Oh shit, Grandpa's got a 25% chance of dying" both at the same time.

Nursing homes are the one spot we REALLY need to work on to get up to snuff. I am glad at least they caught it early and are taking drastic action to stop it. But I don't think I'd trust them if I had an alternative.

Yeah, I hear you, and generally feel the same. Ultimately I think my mother's got to decide if she has space and time to become a caregiver for an ornery old codger for the next few weeks...

I see your point, and I'm sure that's the case with many of these state governments.

That said, I think that the Congressional Democrats have an agenda, based on their actions over the past month. Nancy Pelosi positively looked gleeful when she was talking about the Democrats blocking yet another relief bill, and then showcasing her fridge full of yuppy ice cream. I think the Dems were hoping to delay/hold out on the bill through May, which would have been a killshot for a lot of these small businesses (therefore sabotaging the economy even further in an election year). Then the day after Trump released that damning ad against Pelosi, the Dems got the bill passed (lol). It's just a series of events where I can't help but ask, "Democrats, what is your strategy here?"
Oh I absolutely agree the congressional dems are refusing to let a good crisis to waste, I'm just of the opinion there is a lot more stupidity than malice at the state level.

Almost makes me glad my fiancee's grandma pasted away since we wouldn't be able to visit her anymore due to this BS lockdown, but I know that old battle axe could fight the virus if she got it. WW2 didn't kill her, I doubt the sniffles would have.

Time for news from the glorious Mother Russia!

Every citizen of Moscow must now use the government mandated app on their smartphone to be allowed to go outside - available in Google play or Apple App store for free!
A wet dream of NKVD or KGB, I bet the veterans of these services are seething right now over the fact how easy the life is for the FSB.

App includes e-verify type identification of the person after installation, before one can use it.

Additionally, for every visit outside one needs to:
  • Literally agree to the terms and conditions of social distancing by checking checkboxes in the app.
  • Answer questionnaire about their symptoms
  • Choose the reason for going outside from fixed list - such as "walking the dog", "going to shop for groceries" etc.
This starts a timer, you will have to be back before the timer runs out. When challenged by the police while outside, you must present them your smart phone with valid QR code from the app.

Russians have already started generating maymays over this app, showing their delight in the new normal.

"What kind of legal reason do you have for going out? Do you have a legal document for going outside, doggo? Explain, doggo, why do you want to go outside without QR code? What are you going to answer to the rozzers, when they ask you to show them your QR code?"

Oh, in case you were wondering, what would happen, when you got caught outside without valid QR code or the timer ran out before you got back, take a look at the following educational video.

You'd be surprised. I know one particularly tough son of a bitch that through the spanish civil war went through multiple battles as part of the penal troops (who in case you don't know, were thrown at the battlefield with nothing but a uniform (to ensure enemy centinels would think they were soldiers and shoot them on sight) and a shovel during artillery bombardments so they scraped trenches for survival. The army that employed them hoping to use said trenches on an assault on the near future) was sentenced to death multiple times and managed to escape either by his own volition or pure luck every time. Was thought an enemy and persecuted by all 3 sides (because he got caught in the early skirmishes so no army marked him as part of their own and due to the penal troops they all had captured him and marked him as part of the enemy) and got shot repeatedly. (And smoked like 2 packs a fucking day because apparently he had a deathwish.) Btw we're not talking of some professional soldier. He was a fucking teacher who before the war had never held a gun. (Hence his inability to stop getting captured.) He died years later of a heart attack waiting for the bus. Just sat on the stop to wait and by the time someone realized he wasn't sleeping it was too late.

So I'd say you'd be surprised what can finish off some of the toughest fuckers ever. (BTW I didn't mention his name because I couldn't recall it so I'll say it now.) Manolo Rodríguez. After the war he was the director of the Manuel de Falla school. I heard of his story from a mutual acquaintance. He never got recognition for it btw. Because the dictatorship only recognized the nationalist's merits. And despite the fact that he enlisted as a nationalist before getting captured for the first time, first recollection they had of him was being captured as a republican when he was on their penal troops. So yeah... the community loved him for being a good teacher, director and person. He WORSHIPED franco. Cried during his funeral. Yet the regime he so loved thought he was scum. Because he got captured.

Ah yes "cyber gulag".

Given the state of our old age homes and long term care sites here, if you manage to survive that for years this wouldn't have done anything to her. You're better off living on your own and having someone check on you daily if you're not bedridden like she was. I've already talked to my fiancees parents about that since I don't trust such places.

Two new studies using antibody tests to assess how many people have been infected with the coronavirus have turned up numbers higher than some experts had expected.

Both studies were performed in California: one among residents of Santa Clara County, south of San Francisco, and the other among residents of Los Angeles County. In both cases, the estimates of the number of people infected in those counties were far higher than the number of confirmed cases.

The studies, conducted by public health officials and scientists at Stanford University and the University of Southern California, have earned the ire of critics who questioned both the recruitment methods and the analyses.

In the Santa Clara County study, researchers tested 3,330 volunteers for antibodies indicating exposure to the virus. Roughly 1.5 percent were positive.
That means that 48,000 to 81,000 people were infected with the coronavirus in Santa Clara County by early April, the investigators concluded.

In Los Angeles County, researchers conducted tests at drive-through sites and at participants’ homes and estimated that 2.8 percent to 5.6 percent of the county’s adult population carried antibodies to the coronavirus. There are 10.4 million people in Los Angeles County.
If accurate, that would mean that 220,000 to 442,000 residents had been exposed. By comparison, only 8,000 cases had been confirmed in the county by early April, when the testing was done.
While finding volunteers was not difficult, it’s not clear how representative they were of the populations at large.
To find participants in the Los Angeles County study, researchers used a random sample of email addresses and telephone numbers of residents to invite people to participate in what they said would be a Covid-19 survey.

The scientists set limits on participation, based on factors like ethnicity and age, in an effort to ensure the sample represented the county’s population. About 1,100 people signed up to be tested.

The study in Santa Clara County found participants by advertising on Facebook. Most of the first volunteers were in wealthy ZIP codes, so the investigators also recruited from poorer areas. As in the Los Angeles County study, the goal was to get a representative sample of the population.

“It’s not perfect, but it’s the best science can do,” said Dr. John Ioannidis, a professor of medicine at Stanford University and an author of the Santa Clara County report.

Antibody studies in other countries have produced similar figures, he noted.
If the numbers prove accurate, the coronavirus may be much less deadly than originally expected, with a fatality rate more closely resembling that of a seasonal flu strain than a pandemic of profound lethality.

But there are questions about who was tested. Among them: Were people who had reason to think they had been infected overrepresented among the volunteers?

“We tried to look into the possibility of bias influencing the results,” Dr. Ioannidis said. “We asked for symptoms recently and in the last few months, and were very careful with our adjustments. We did a very lengthy set of analyses.”

That data will be published in a forthcoming appendix, he said. In any event, bias also can work to lower the numbers if the healthiest people were the ones inclined to be tested, a real possibility.

“Nobody knows the truth — let’s be honest,” Dr. Ioannidis said of the prevalence figures. “But if I had to guess, I would say it is probably higher than our estimate.”

I was sent that earlier today. I think the reason why it hasn't spread in the news is because that would put the death rate even lower than what it is and increase recovered numbers higher. California alone has seen 33,261 reported cases cases. This would increase that by 143.52845675115%. What would the world count be at with such an increase? 3,681,590. (currently it's at 2,572,600 )

Just wondering if this is some real stuff
apparently the WHO and Gates Foundation has some accounts leaked
I have no idea if this is real or spergs from ppl who are tired of the lockdown and have nothing else to do

Why is no one discussing this? This thread is moving too fast for its own good.
I'm inclined to think this is fake. Some one from r/wuhan_flu claimed to have checked the who employee list and couldn't find any one on the leaked list.
Also when you hack places like those, how do you find the relevant emails in such a short period of time? They must have tons of day to day innocuous emails.

They've been trying so, so hard to suppress this or any such report from the get go. It really damages their narrative to have had it spread so much with a lack of deaths.
Plus, the ghouls at Harvard, Imperial and the media are pushing super hard on the "BUT...there could be a second wave! We'll never be safe! MORE LOCKDOWNS". UN and WHO leaning into a new narrative of "FAMINES. WORST YET TO COME.".
Never mind the fact that they're all still super into dismissing any attempt at a treatment. HCQ is magically very dangerous, BCG Vaccine? Dame Dame, it could give you a fever! Please don't take it. Everything that people know or can see with their own 2 eyes must be spirited away from public discourse, because it doesn't fit the narrative.

This whole shape shifting of reality is exactly what these people did in relation to gender. Suddenly we all had to accept that normal was bad, men are real women, a penis is feminine, there's no sexual dimorphism.
All the new terms they've pushed through - social distancing, new normal. It's just like the Cis, Non-Binary, Trans etc.

We all know what the game is now and it's like watching something in its death throes. You have NYT still printing trash like this, citing the Chinese Spies at Harvard - "What will our New Normal feel like?" (Written by Max Fisher, so of course it's high grade bullshit).

Until the virus is subdued either by a vaccine or by a global campaign of strategically coordinated lockdowns — which one Harvard study estimated would take two years to work — daily life is likely to be defined by efforts to manage the pandemic.

This would preclude many weddings, sporting events or concerts. It would rule out a full return to commuting by public transit. Many malls, gyms, restaurants, bars and places of worship might remain fully or partly closed. So would many offices and factories.

No, actually it wouldn't, but thanks for playing Max. You've seen what happens in a month. Fucking rainbows you think you're getting 2 years of this shit. They really have no idea of how to read the room. This isn't the same as calling someone a bigot for voting for Trump to shut them down. People will actually kill for their freedoms and liberties. Someone useless and doughy like Max would be first... They're so insanely deluded, it's mindblowing.

The QR code thing is only in Moscow, which means nobody of value is affected by it anyway. I live in Russia, but not Moscow, and have been leaving my house every day for the past 2 months without any issues. I ride my motorcycle on the weekends, go to get gas, go to the store, etc.

Good attempt but I would suggest reading more than 1 post on 4chan before making a news post.

Journalists in Minnesota are trying so hard to push the "systemic racism causes disparate impact" button, that they've actually had to point fingers at the higher black fatalities in other states, since whites make up the majority of those dying of the coof in Metokur-land. The Dems never stop trying to push their brand of snake oil, even when it's an empty bottle with a note inside saying "pretend there's racism here".

Leaks like email addresses for this sort of thing really don't matter. What you want is actual leaked emails between those email accounts. Then start going through every cipher you can for each one.

So. Next part of the fucked up mess of laundry. Because this is a chronicle for the ages.

Turns out I did not give the whole news yesterday. Holy fuck the level of autism at display. Btw now I have the engineer's name. And I'm thinking of doxxing his ass, because he's an epic fucking lolcow on par with CWC himself. So now I learned the whole story from another unioner.

So, turns out shit got more real that even I thought. And I need some prologue. See here's the reason why this mattered so much: the PP here in spain is what the british lefties think the Tories are. Which is to say they have hacked up our healthcare every fucking chance they got. They salivate at the idea of privatizing ANYTHING. And while we've kept them from privatizing the actual healthcare shit like biowaste disposal (as you've witnessed before) and chunks of informatic have gotten QUARTERED to hell and back. Basically, if someone is fired, a facility closed, or an area temporarily deactivated. IT WILL STAY CLOSED FOREVER. It won't reopen/rehire/whatever, ever. Period. So laundry is something the PP hasn't been able to destroy here down south, but it's privatized up north. So as you can imagine. If this laundry service closes due to disease. We're not getting laundry until the free market takes care of it. Which can take months. For the whole province or cadiz. During a pandemic... You can see why the union was freaking the fuck out.

So. Yesterday morning the engineer made a deal with our boss. You don't fuck with me I don't fuck with you. The idea was to let the directive do what they see fit. Of course he proceeded to immediately break his promise and that's why he got the directives on his side and then proceeded to declare himself dictator and go to laundry barking shit and threatening to fire them all. Which is when laundry with ferdinand as a spokeperson literally threatened a strike. Which... Yeah. We'd not get any laundry for months if they do that. You can see why I described this mess as nuclear autistic arms race.

So. Yesterday afternoon the union boss noticed this word breaking and basically gave the rest of the union the order to do as they please. If he wants to play dirty, we're going nuclear too. And most did fuck all. But one unioner in particular went and talked to the economic directive in charge of laundry, and explained the situation quite carefuly, with pictures of the wazzaps, including the engineer's threats. And the economic director realized the fucking mess he was sitting on. Specially because if the PP privatizes laundry during a pandemic we are looking at open revolt. 2012 saw a severe increase in violence despite lack of epidemic, heads would roll. And he went to laundry talked with them and told them he'd prepare a new timetable. That got the shit to stop on laundry's side.

But we didn't get the memmo, and what it didn't stop is the shit from the engineer's side. If anything it multiplied it. So this morning the unioner was gonna go talk to said economic director at some point in the morning, but first they planed on doing some other shit. However, economic direction and the unions are very closeby. And on the way to the unions she spotted the engineer, going to direction. And even more fucking idiot spotted them and reacted by trying to act as if nothing happened and changing course (probably hoping to go unnoticed behind them) which doesn't work very well when you WORK ON A DIFFERENT FUCKING CITY you know. So she said. Fuck it. And went straight to the economic director.

This is where she learned of how he had fixed it yesterday. Which, props to the director for giving a shit, but also I swear if directive did their job and communications were properly transparent that'd fix 45% of our job, and another 45% would be fixed if paperwork and bureaucracy weren't designed by chimpanzees who have yet to learn what "consistency" is. But I digress. Point is, while they were talking she also heard of what the engineer had said about laundry personnel. Which wowee. And more importantly. The engineer keep calling the director by phone then hanging up before he could answer, over and over again, until the unioner told him the engineer was outside so he opened the door, saw him, told him he'd meet him in a second, and that got him to realize he was being an ass and stopping the fucking calls. Which is why I say this guy is a Chris Chan tier lolcow. Except less funny and more pathetic. I won't fully dox him because I might get accidentsly doxxed myself, and also because he's not online enough for his antics to be worth it. But fuck me sideways, that's exceptional. (EDIT: Btw the economic director confirmed he had called the engineer there. So he didn't even have a reason to act shady. Which just makes this even dumber somehow.)

So yeah. We'll see how this continues. But for now this is the end of the tale of the laundry uprising of 2020. Where an entire province was almost plunged into biowarfare because of a fucking timetable.
