MOD NOTE:

There's so much news about North Korea right now and what Un is doing, I got a suggestion for a NK megathread, so here it is. Post the world's greatest nation's antics here. I'm merging a few of the more recent threads to continue discussion.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in has pushed for a new plan for a rapid war with North Korea and an overhaul of the country's defense industry to overwhelm and crush the North's government, the South Korean newspaper The Chosun Ilbo reported Tuesday.

Moon took office in May promising to attempt to engage diplomatically with North Korea and seek peace, but in the months since, the North has provoked the international community with missile tests at a blistering pace.

For some time, South Korea has been training a "decapitation force," reportedly with the help of the US Navy's SEAL Team 6, but now an increasingly bold North Korea may demand quicker action.

South Korea's new plan identifies more than 1,000 targets for precision missile fires and sites for marines to drop in and quickly kill North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, the paper reported.

The plan represents a more independent version of South Korea's current plan, which relies on support from US aircraft carriers. As it stands, no major military commander recommends military action against North Korea, which has a staggering array of conventional — and potentially nuclear — weapons pointed at Seoul, where 26 million call home.

But South Korea's new plan to quickly and decisively dominate the North relies on reforming the defense-acquisition process and cutting out wasteful spending to wield the full might of its economic dominance against Pyongyang, according to the report. For that reason, don't expect the plan to take effect anytime soon.

Trump can be blamed for being a mysgonist when he refuses to give in to North Korea's inane demands! Oh boy!

The thing is, I doubt she will be able to control the generals or even the State security apparatus. She may try, but the moment she tries to go ham fist on someone important they will fight back. It wasn't so long ago Jong-Un did purges. I doubt anyone important is in the mood for another round so soon.

The interesting thing about that, is CNN back when it did news reported on her. And the elder sisters role.

And one month ago she made her first public statement. A prelude?

If the Kims are just figureheads, then keeping it in the Kim family is the most important thing. And it makes sense from an ideological angle too; as while yes all the top jobs in the military are filled by men, there are women in the Nork military because muh commie equality. They're not soldiers but they exist and likely serve functional roles. To have a woman as the Head of State might be phrased in similar ways. "Mother of our nation", "nurturer of our nation's future". Bold new direction crap.
I would not dismiss it out of hand. There is no offical rule against it, just the opposite.
I memba years ago reading something by some NK researcher about how the main narrative in nork propaganda is that its a nation of the purest and most innocent and good hearted children that requires a strong yet nurturing and loving leader to protect them from the disgusting and degenerate outside world. Someone who is not only be the ultimate strong and uncompromising "father of the nation" figure as seen in the personality cults of most dictators from Stalin to Mao, but also the ultimate soft and loving and nurturing "mother of the nation" figure as seen in the personality cults of various wannabe female dictators throughout the years....

To this end Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un were actively moulded into the plump and bizzarely effeminate "motherly" figures that stand in stark contrast with the stone faced military men around them, as this image would allow them to match the traditional maternal stereotypes of korea, and thus make it easier to spin them as this parental fusion figure so central to the narrative since it supposedly ties in to some traditional korean culture shit.

Im not really sure how much of this I believe, but assuming even some of it is true then Kim's sister will probably have zero problems with any narrative justification for her leadership, even if only as a figurehead.

Sadly if this interpretation is true then odds are she is going to be pushed into packing on the pounds in the not too distant future in order to fit this "perfect mother" image, so enjoy sexy dictator lady while you can before she lards out to the point where only the most degenerate and depraved feeder specimens could ever pop a chubby to her

Everything we know about North Korea says a female succession to their fucked up monarchy is impossible. But we dont know how pragmatic the ruling power structure is vs. How much they buy in to the cult of personality. The pragmatic solution, especially considering how hard Jong Un murdered or discredited his immediate male family means a female succession is the only logical choice.

On the other hand, how many women do you see in those pictures of senior officials, military commanders and party cadre.

none

And I just want to point out we are obsessing over the monarchical succession of a shit hole that if put up in a war without nukes against a single US state, not even one of the Big Ones. Let's say North Korea vs. Tennessee, would get its shit pushed in within months.

There's a big difference between regular women, golden (songbun) women and the Kims.
Firstly the Kims are noble in the sense of the Baekdu Bloodline. A Clause in the Ten Principles document outlines that NK must always be ruled by the Baekdu bloodline.

Kang Pan-seok was extremely important to NK. Kim Gyung-hee was NK's first female 4 star general.
Women who are senior officials are golden women or the Kims. Golden women being those who are related to powerful men in the inner circle.

At any rate, YJ could become leader, it matters not if she's a woman too much, it depends if she's in favor with those that hold the power. There's nothing in the principles that says that the Kim's must have the power, just that they must lead.
KJU has never had the kind of power that his father enjoyed and he never would have. The tide was turning prior to Kim Jong Il's death.

Jong-Un is more like his father, in that he's a nationalist, but he's more Anti-China. Jong-Nam wanted the country opened up, but he was pro-letting the Chinks help, like his father.

Both posed a problem. If KYJ is pliable for China, she may very well become leader. She's got more than enough going for her.

Apparently China are moving military across the NK border atm, and people are panic buying NK atm, so something is certainly going on.
Add to that, Kim Yeo-jong herself hasn't been seen in a while. Neither have Choi Ryong-Hae and Pak Pong-ju.
Source.

They could just be on that train that's been going to resort areas, but it's certainly weird.

Change is the greatest danger to the n. Korean dictatorship and they know it. Change like IDK three generations of the dear leader being men who look very similar to a youngish chick.
Then you have the fact that s. Korea just had a woman leader in Park Geun-hye and I ask: Just how likely is it that the north can be seen to follow the south culturally?
And this ignores both Kim Sol-song (oldest daughter) and Kim Jong-chul (oldest living son) plus and living children of theirs.

At least this thread is reasonable about the issue unlike the thirsty fucks in the happenings thread.

Wasn't chul not picked because he was too pro-west? He loved Eric Clapton iirc

That probably didn't help if that was him, but from what I've heard he was always seen as too feminine. I just know Nam was passed over because he was caught trying to sneak into Disneyland Tokyo, so I wouldn't be surprised if the Clapton thing was him.

Sauce?
I've seen that he was considered 'feminine' because he had no interest in the military or politics but not that he was gay.

Just a lot of rumour really. The feminine stuff and no known children makes me think gay.

park geun-hye's dad was the deposed military dictator of south korea back in the day. so maybe the norks wont mind the female dictator.

So what you're saying is the Norks were inspired by the Kwizats Haderach from Dune?

Does that mean Kim Jong-Un is non-binary?
