Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Minor power level I think, I have the 94 Black Flag comic so what exactly is Fraga selling with this IGG? Cause best I can tell the IGG is just a recolor reprint of the original. Frankly paying $25 plus shipping for a reprint of a comic I paid cover price & tax for is not a good deal. Ugh just remembered the original comic was more a pinup/sketchbook than an actual story.

Wait. It's a reprint of a 25 year old comic nobody has thought about for 24 years?

Are you sure this isn't new material based on the old comic instead?

If it's a reprint people are likely to be pissed.

I honestly have no clue if the IGG is new or a reprint. Page counts are different for the 94 and 2020 versions as the 94 comic isn't 48 pages. Granted I will have to dumpster dive my closet to find my copy to be sure but frankly I got more pressing issues to deal with than looking for a book.

Edit: Been looking into Black Flag online and the copy I got is the Image comics "Black Flag Preview Edition #1 or One-Shot depending on comic info site. The Black Flag miniseries is done with Maximum Comics.

So there is a non-zero chance that this is just a scam reprint of an old cat smacker series from the 90s. Fuck off if that's the case, since I bet that floppy is still cheaper even if it was that obscure.

Ethan's got a call in show going.

A couple just fans, a couple "we should be trying to get into the dying stores" and a few "WC fans" antagonizing a drunk Cecil and Malin.

Something is rotten when Fraga is using this cover with the new art pasted right on top of it. Black Flag.jpg

Fraga's character naming sense is already way off-putting for me tbh. "Sniper", "Bubble", "Geisha" (oh boy, not gonna get into how this comes off as SJW-outrage bait, because it is a bad name to even consider) and whatever else is all just generic-tier naming sense. There might be more to his story, but to be honest, sometimes, you can just look at the naming sense of characters and tell it's going to be uninspiring.

His art on the other hand, I can kind of stand behind. It looks good. Be better if he worked with a writer who can utilize his artistic skills better though. In fact, all of the fuckers in CG need to set aside this ego of doing books alone and being portrayed as the sole champion profiteer of it. Work with the artist/writer, and you each decide how much you really contributed narrative wise, and how much the art affected how the visual narrative came out, then split the difference there. It ain't that hard. But what the heck do these guys know about quantifying things when it comes to their quality?

He created these characters when he was a very young guy and trying to break into the industry, and so predictably it was a totally derivative work that is a mish-mash of Star Wars, TMNT, Mortal Kombat, and a million other things.

Its probably not a good idea to resurrect these characters, although the art does look nice.

I mean, I have characters I created myself when I was 15 and learning animation and writing fanfic online. My naming sense wasn't even THAT bad. That was more than a decade ago (might be approaching two decades at this point), and I did it as pass-time hobby, not for money. If I was gonna revive a character I made as a teenager, I'd definitely strike down the names and reinvent them if they're too generic. Seems more to me like these guys hung onto Nostalgia too damn much about their own creations and think that somehow resurrecting their old works without reinventing them is somehow gonna make it fly?

I just went and read a couple of issues of the original comic and it's not so much a story as a bunch of mostly unrelated and badly written viginettes. I'm guessing that it wasn't so much meant to be a viable comic as much as an audition for the big boys.

Oh, that's even worse. Trying to turn a badly formulated audition tape into a viable story? Did Fraga ever cite taking a writing course or reading books or studying the art of writing at all? Besides being a shroom induced writer, much like a lot of Hollywood writers who just "write" after getting high on some type of psychedelic isn't considered high-tier creativity either unless you're a high, but knowledgeable scholar to begin with on the art of writing.

I can go on and on about how this was such a wrong move, narrative-wise, but if people are gonna buy it for the art, then I have no complaints there. It is the saving grace from what I can see right now. But then again, I can also name plenty of books I regretted buying by just purchasing it for the art alone.

Not sure if we still talk the pro side, but Heather Antos is on stream confirming that "all comic book editors" are in the same discord room communicating to one another
(at 41:10 if timestamp does not work).

Watching her in this video, I get the feeling she is either quite good at talking to one person and exceptionally bad at broadcasting on social media or the host of the show is such an uncharismatic guy that he makes her look better (this is why she is a semi-regural in his shows)

Oh dear God. 3 minutes into the clip, and she clarifies that she equates comic book editors to being like film or TV producers. THANKS, now I know EXACTLY why things went to shit because this bitch keeps having this "look at me, I look pretty right, I twirl my hair" smug look on her face and thinks she's somehow more important than she is (based on how she views her job), whilst also not actually realizing being an editor also means you should probably be a pretty decent writer and have an understanding of marketing and such.

I don't consider Producers important at all, and in fact, based on my experiences, they can be replaced with someone so easily that the fact that people give them such power is detrimental. They are the least creative types in the field, so the fact that she's talking like she has control and can mandate events and shit, yeah, there you go. Non artists pretending to be artists.

It's telling that none of them want to actually improve as writers or get writers since so many of them have that as their weakest point usually.

Liam Grey is currently working his way up to be a "prominent writer" right now, but even his writing skills suck based on the shit he's been ripping off based on the amount of stuff I've seen of his work. I have a stinging feeling he might be the person Ethan might personally execute under the pretense of causing a lot of drama to set fire from his channel (even if those things already existed in the shadows), in a way, validating Sketch Therapy's grievances against Liam (Sketch tried to "air out" his problems against Liam today in EVS's stream, but he was kicked before he could make his point), but for a very different reason: Ethan hates writers, because he knows damn well in his heart, he can never be a creative in the truest essence of the word because he lacks the ability to craft a proper narrative. Liam might be a hack, but his hack work is better than Ethan's attempts at constructing one. Ethan can't have someone outshine him. This might cause Jon Malin to raise caution, as the infighting between him/Cecil and WC continues, to finally take his role as Brutus.

It's also true. WC has likely been recording everything and collecting dirt on everyone since they appeared.

Cecil is a massive loser but WC is is also a gay ops machine.

It would be funny to see them drop info on Malin and Cecil to see if they can escalate this sperg war.

I've said this before, hell I'm pretty sure a few of us did, but WC has been doing this shit from basically the beginning but all the big names in CG both former and current (aside from maybe Zack who keeps his mouth shut) thought these guys antics were downright hilarious right until they or someone they liked became a target. What's the issue Cecil? WC has been doing the same shit for ages that you now take issue with. Aren't they funny little scamps just memeing around with overreacting detractors?

WC needs to quit cockteasing this fat faggots dox and create a KF account and drop it already.
Cecil is pants on head retarded and so is Ethan. They are playing up this fake doxing shit for internet drama points.
If it happens to be true it would take them two seconds to PM it to me and ill post it. Forget all this fucking around whispering "ill dox u" to this tard and do it already.
WC if you're lurking create an account and dox this tard already, enough pussyfooting around trying to intimidate him with gayops.
No one is going to call him yelling "julayyyy" and if they do that's on cecil for self-doxing himself on multiple streams in a drunken stupor.
Put out or shut up faggots.

Yep. Cecil said nothing or cheered them on when they went after people he claimed as friends.

Ethan and Malin too.
